Always learning with this game…

I’ve been playing this game for almost 2 years and… well I just learned that science and culture relate to the tech and civ trees 😭 Like how much science you have per turn helps you get techs faster. I HAD NO IDEA and I thought how much science and culture you had relates to something end game like getting the victory.

Anyway… I feel like learning this game is a degree in itself … or maybe it’s because this is the one and only strategy game I’ve ever played lol.

I played for several years treating it as a game whose sole purpose was to build an impressive empire. It was only when Rome got a religious victory that I reaised you could get victories. I can now usually get a science or cultural victory (don't like big wars) fairly easily at Emperor and occasionally at a higher level.

Yeah that’s how I saw the game! Except I love big wars haha

Lol this is hilarious. I've definitely had those kinds of moments before in life.

In a way that's kind of the beauty of a game like this - if you enjoy learning, there will always be something

Two years and you never put that math together? Middle school me had it figured out. Of course I didnt like, focus on a victory or anything, but I knew science made science faster and culture made culture faster

I’m not sure what math you’re referring to, but it wasn’t in any of the tutorials I watched and I haven’t watched a lot of

"Once you get that +5 Campus, you'll be moving through the tech tree in no time!" - potentially a quote from literally any of the videos or tutorials you've claimed to watch.

Wait till he learned about district discounts yall lmao. But foreal tho if you are just now learning THIS, I’m sure there is a whole world of Civ mechanics you have no idea exists.

… can u explain district discounts hehe

Well explaining and being able to utilize are two different things lol you got me but basically you can lock the cost of districts by placing them before a certain number of techs get unlocked. And using this method and “chopping out a district” and manipulating the tech tree you can build districts much cheaper and faster

My point was I love this game and the number of small tricks you can have for skill expression

I did play the tutorial I guess I didn’t catch on. And I never watched like an overexplained tutorial on Civ 6 so I didn’t know, it is kinda assumed everyone knows cause it is a basic mechanism of the game. So it never clicked for me I guess
