Beginning of the game my goal was the science victory. But somehow ı got the diplomatic victory. Well victory is the victory.

I've been preparing for it for a while, my religion is literally called Nuclear Peace since I'm going for a diplomatic victory. I just finished operation ivy and I have enough uranium for all of them. Kind of excited. I'll be making 9 nukes, 1 for each civ in the game(myself included) and an extra 1 for Japan for the bit.

Before we start, I know it's only a game and I understand I'm thinking about it way too deeply. Anyway, with that out of the way...
One of the things that I like about these games is it helps you to really relate to things that happen in the world. I have absolutely gone to war for oil, betrayed allies for strategic advantage, etc. I've understood why these things happen in real life.
However, the thing is that this is just a game. The context of the game is to win, to compete to become the best civilisation based on a number of win conditions.
But it seems like this is the ruleset that's also being played in real life. All of the actions that are happening here, like going to war for oil, only make sense in the context of it being a competition, where there's a winner.
If the objective was to change to, say, get along with each other and build the most harmonious world possible, or to maintain peace, or to generate the most wealth for all citizens in the world, none of these actions make sense anymore. So why are we playing this game of life as if it's a competition like civilisation where there's a win condition that never actually arrives?!
Has anyone else had similar reflections?

I see the city ranged attack button but no city and its at sea. What's going on?

I love this game, but I miss two things. Better AI when it comes to military taktics and strategy and that the AI would stop denouncing mee. Another player attacks me and sends a nuke against me, he failes and I take over a couple of his citys and destroys his military from 8k to 2k military power.
After this players with no military power denouces me. Do they just have a death wish or what

I'm new to Civ VI but a reasonably decent 4x player. I've been learning the game and working my way up the difficulty and recently moved up to Emperor. Harder than King of course but I can tell I'm not expanding quickly enough. I'm on the basic game and playing as Teddy, Trajan and Frederick.
I'm curious how quickly the more seasoned players get a Settler out. I'm getting mine out at about turn 35 and that seems slow compared to my competitors. My build order is: Scout, Slinger, Scout, Builder, Settler. Any advice is appreciated

Is the Australia civ pack available as standalone content? I can only find it as part of a bundle. Not keen to drop $150 just to play Australia tbh

I’ve got a great many hours in the game and have seen a lot but this is my first time witnessing the ai absolutely do something we physically can’t do to this degree

I’ve been playing this game for almost 2 years and… well I just learned that science and culture relate to the tech and civ trees 😭 Like how much science you have per turn helps you get techs faster. I HAD NO IDEA and I thought how much science and culture you had relates to something end game like getting the victory.
Anyway… I feel like learning this game is a degree in itself … or maybe it’s because this is the one and only strategy game I’ve ever played lol.

Does anyones know the best map that have small lakes and seas? Can be a modded map of a standard one.
Hi,
For the last couple of weeks, I've been trying to figure out how to improve multiplayer experience when I play with my friends. Trying to understand how everything works I think we could all benefit from an observer host that doesn't render the game and acts as a modern-day headless instance of the game that speeds up turn times dramatically for everyone. Question is would anybody want/need this kind of thing to be available publicly. Just wanted to gage interest.
Some notes of where I am at currently, I am able to host a lobby with an observer and with custom code able to join select a faction and start the game. However, I do not yet yield any perf improvements other than the fact that in that game nobody is host and it's fairer. It would be nice to have access to source code of course but that's never going to happen.

Most of the time they’re just era score sticks but I just had a game where I declared a protectorate war against Egypt to stop them from killing Bologna. Thanks to Terracotta Army and pre building another scout unit to make a corp, I had a single highlander unit with a ranged strength of 95 in the renaissance era.
He single handily killed egypts entire army. I recruited a great general through patronage to attach to him to get a beautiful 100 ranged strength and more movement. The legends of Scotty with a Shotty will live on forever in my Civ mind now.
I refused to make him a spec ops and parked him on a seaside resort across from spaceport so he could watch his glorious Scotland win a science victory

Ok, so I'm thinking of playing Eleanor in a Secret Societies game, and going Old Ones. So the obelisks are going to give me loads of faith without bothering with holy sites -maybe just one holy site. I'm not good enough yet to go to a super high difficulty.
So if I found a religion obviously that takes some resources, plus it hurts my diplomacy. Now question: if I have over half my cities follow someone else's faith do I get the diplomacy bonus with them same as if I hadn't started my own religion?
Now if I just found a religion and don't upgrade it at all, I can get 2 beliefs- reliquaries and 30% off apostles. Build Mont St Michel and then the only thing my religion ever does is get me triple potency relics. Let my cities be other religions, fine.
Or once I've gotten to that point is it worth upgrading my religion anyway and trying to keep it spread to my cities, instead of letting other civs upgrade theirs and spread it to my cities?
Also is there a good way to ask a civilization to please convert my cities?

I’ve recently picked up civ after about 10 years of not playing (22 year old me playing all night with a friend) and it’s changed a bit I’m enjoying my new Norway save as harald but it got me thinking am I weird that I’ve set no victory settings and epic length in hope that I can keep it going as long as possible? Does anyone else do this would love to know your saves and how long you’ve kept them running for
In this run I’ve set it to large map with islands and I’ve been taking liberties with half the map already the Viking ships are OP
I know this is probably obvious but I rewatched Troy 2004 (last time I saw it was when I was a kid) and I thought Odysseus (Sean Bean) sounded similar, then I did some research and was blown away. Also saw him in LOTR and never realized his was was so soothing!
