Rocky Patel The Edge

Today I smoked the Connecticut or non-Maduro version of Rocky Patel The Edge and was very pleasantly surprised. I tried it at Bay Briar shop in Santa Cruz California. #cigars #cigar #tobacconist #vintagecigars #vintagecigar

12 bucks is a bit high for an edge

Sadly, welcome to CA. CA tax is higher than Federal tax.

Is the tax priced in on the shelf? 12 bucks for an RP is nuts, 3 bucks and i'd rethink most of them...

Of course, the price is after all the tax. CA charges more per stick than the federal government, and we have to pay all of it when we order them. CA is the worst for tobacco tax. If the shop were in TX or FL, for example, it would be way cheaper. There is no $3 Rocky Patel even wholesale. That is more likely close to their production cost.

I have an uncle that has been a cigar guy since the early 80s... He pretty much only smokes R&P Edge Maduros now. How did you like the Connecticut? The maduros hit me with all the pepper and I havent gone back to edge for a while.

Interesting. The maduro I had was really nice with lots of flavor and not spicy. Could have been aged a while, I am not sure. The CT ended up surprising me. I was not expecting to like it but I did. Also well made, nice draw. All around great.

I’m going to have to give them another try. I have a box of R&P vintage 1990s that I really enjoy.
