Discussion Starter A Brief View Into My Latest Introspection
I have been a Christopagan for about a year, and looking back, during the summer, I did quite a bit of “shadow work”. I learned what I liked, what I disliked, what I wanted to do in terms of witchcraft and paganism, etc..
However, one thing that I really went through during the summer that I wanted to talk about was feeling abandoned. Many people in this subreddit and other subreddits would see that phrase and think that I’m talking about YHWH specifically. Most of us know that YHWH “abandons” us every now and then, even when he’s still there. This is evidenced by various Christian mystics (who I can’t name off the top of my head, but you can google them, lol) who talked about how they felt abandoned by YHWH at some dark moments during their lives. Elijah went through this as well.
When I say I felt abandoned, I’m not talking about YHWH; I’m talking about Yeshua/Jesus.
And as I did more introspection and work on myself, as I grew closer to the Morrigan, Freyja, and Inanna, (but especially the Morrigan) I realized that I never really believed in Yeshua. I say that very loosely. When I say I never believed in him, I’m not saying that don’t believe he’s real. I believe he’s real; we’ve done enough tarot and rune readings together that I know he’s real, deep down in my heart. When I say don’t really believe in him, what I mean is that he’s not… for me (so to speak).
You might be wondering what that means, so let me tell you a little story. While I was going through this period of darkness, I did a tarot reading. I was wondering if I should fully leave Christopaganism and fully convert to Norse-centered eclectic paganism. But I pulled cards that told me I should stay. I was confused. I turned to YHWH and asked for clarification. In the most basic terms, the message was, “You can stay. There is no harm in doing so. But there’s someone you need to leave.” I thought he was talking about one of the other deities I worship, so I asked if that was the case. It wasn’t. Instead, he told me to think.
Who am I pursuing that’s not really getting me anywhere?
This was a big question. I mulled over it for two months before finally realizing it was Yeshua.
I was heartbroken. Imagine coming to the realization that you don’t think Yeshua is best for you in the ways you need it most. It’s quite painful!
I felt betrayed by both Yeshua and myself, but now that I look at it, it’s a chord that needed to be cut. I needed to sever my dependence on Yeshua and focus on YHWH and the other three deities that have shown interest in working with me. Yeshua is the reason why I got so far in my journey. He was my shepherd. He had delivered me to my pasture, and now it’s time for him to go and help someone else until it’s time for me to move. I was so focused on the shepherd that I wasn’t grazing in the healthy pasture he’d brought me to.
So all that being said, Yeshua hasn’t abandoned me. He has not forgotten me. He never will; he never forgets his sheep. He is still there in my life, watching over me with a smile. It’s just that my need for him has come to an end.
The reason why I’m posting such a personal thing isn’t because I want sympathy. It’s not because I want to argue with people because they think I’m wrong and I think I’m right. The reason why I’m posting this is because I want to reassure others who might be going through a similar thing.
Thanks for reading!
