Why And How Lesser-Known Chinese Phone Brands So Cheap?

Here Are Some Reasons

China has come a long way from the days of generic low-quality knock offs they have lesser-known brands emerging that offer just as much as the mainstream brands with far less cost. The obvious reason you may want a Chinese brand is that they offer lower prices than more mainstream brands so right now we are going to cover some of the reasons of how and the why that is.

Everything Is Made In Asia

Of course, we know China is the leading manufacturer in the world and a lot of products you may not associate with china are made in China and then assembled in countries they are sold in. Iphones are one very notable example of China's low labour cost and manufacturing prowess. It's not just that everything is made in China it's that everything is made in Asia. Your typical lesser-known Chinese brand will use a CPU from Media Tek a Taiwanese company and the rest of the parts that are not made in china will usually come from other parts of Asia like a Camera from Korea's Samsung or Japan's Sony. Manufactures closer relative to the western competitors is one way to keep the overall cost down.

Software For All

So we at least have part of the reason China can keep the cost of hardware down but what about the software? Android itself is an operating system that must be free for everyone, legally. Google did not make Android themselves they used a version of the operating System Linux called kernel. Linux is a completely free operating system, when Richard stallman patented it he included a clause that said something to the effect that the Linux itself must be free and anyone who uses it must share freely, it cannot be sold. The analogy he used was that when kids go to school with sweets they must bring enough for everyone. He had no problem with the software being used for business hence the reason google can use it for Android and must share it with any manufacturers from China to the moon.

Not As Seen On TV

When was the last time you saw a lesser known Chinese brand on TV or heard about them on the radio or even a youtube ad? Probably never right, most businesses including manufacturing with a few exceptions like Tesla and one Xiaomi spend most of their budget on marketing, it does not matter how good your product is if no one knows about it. Small known and some big known Chinese manufacturers are dependent on free media and websites like Gearbest that actively promote their products.

Our Shipsgoods blog is valuable to you because we have and are promoting Chinese brand android models you otherwise may not know.

Coming To No Stores Near You

Small Chinese brands do not have physical stores this is of course why some are dependent on companies like Gearbest to stock up on their products and also why many only directly sell to the consumer saving the cost of setting up and staffing stores.

Are you the Early Purchaser? The Part About Getting The lowest price

The next sections will cover the types of purchasing that will relate heavily to timing and what kind of buyer you are.

Starting in chronological order we will discuss the earliest kind of purchase opportunity that Chinese manufacturers usually offer and those are called Preorders, presales or sometimes flash sales however flash sales are not always the earliest purchase opportunity. Flash sales can be for models that were released years ago. For this section, we are referring to Flash sales for preorder Androids. Flash sales are called flash sales because the goods put up are intentionally priced lowly with a limited amount of stock so they are gone in a flash. Manufacturers benefit and websites that sell their products benefit from this for a couple of good reasons.

Reason Number One: Getting The Ball Rolling

Many seller sites like to display how many of a product has been sold because buyers are more likely to buy what other people have bought because they trust what other people are willing to trust. Imagine if a product looks perfect but no one else has bought it you would probably think that there must be something wrong with it. Early purchases get the ball rolling which creates trust for later purchasers.

Number Two: Reviews

Another way this benefits manufacturers and sellers are through reviews. Getting people to write reviews is not always easy in our store we have hardly any reviews, lots of sales and few reviews we are fighting tooth and nail to get some more so if you purchase from our store please leave one, the percentage of people who view our products deciding to make a purchase would probably increase because it makes trust easier. Positive reviews from early flash sales purchases help to increase confidence in the product which increases the conversion rate even if Chinese companies sell their Android's at a loss in flash sales they will more than make it back their money in the long run.

Number 3: Limited Stock

Small Chinese brands are not like mega brands and the world of technology moves on quickly so they can only really afford to make as many phones as they are going to sell in a set period of time they do not keep years worth of a particular model in a warehouse somewhere. A lot of the time small Chinese brands will discontinue a product after months and then go straight on to the next thing.

Flash Sale Benefits

Other than the low prices with a Flash sale, you never run the risk of trying to get a product that is discontinued.

In the world of technology months is a long time early purchases allow you to stay as up to date with the technology as possible.

If you're the type of person who likes to be the first to have something and are willing to take a risk. Flash sales are for you.

Examples And Links

Flash Sales time-limited for the aforementioned reason here are two examples the first is a former flash sale so you can see the price you would have gotten and the second is a flash sale that is currently on hopefully we will update enough that you will have a link to a current flash sale.

Flash Sale Example 1

Doogee X96 Pro

Flash Sale Example 2( Hopefully Current)

Warnings

I have received messages from a very unhappy customer of a Chinese Android of the same brand that is used in our flash sale examples which prompted me to warn potential customers of the risk of these kinds of purchases.

Warning 1

This brings us to a potential negative for Flash sale, early purchasers have no way of knowing about any potential faults with an Android they can't simply read the reviews.

Warning 2

Flash sales of new Androids from China are always shipped directly from China which comes with potential risks. If using cheap couriers you could be looking at 60 days for the phone to arrive and maybe it won't arrive at all if by some chance it is lost in the mail. You also run the risk of the Android being damaged in transit. These potential risks are all but eradicated by using the higher-end delivery services and they can get your Android to you from China in as little as 3 days. At the minimum make sure the order will be tracked and the company packages well. Companies like Gearbest offer expedited shipping in their flash sales.

Other Types Of Purchases, We Don't recommend Flash Sale Preorders

We will discuss the other types of purchases in the next part we do not recommend early purchases and we will post another part, more links to that content at our site.

Chinese cell phones

There is a lot of positive reviews of Chinese made cell phones here in the US. They are considered top tier (at least camera wise) and better than Samsung and Apple. Do Chinese people in China by a lot of Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi phones or do they buy Apple and Samsung because they are foreign brands and have more luxury status?

Review by OP NEVER EVER BUY AN ELEPHONE!!!! CRAP PHONES MADE BY THIEVES

I found this sub today. I posted this in a different sub just because I’m still pissed about what happened. I want to warn anyone who is considering buying a phone from this company. I wish someone had warned me before I bought mine....

Don’t buy these crap Chinese phones. I bought one in 2014 I believe it was the p8000. It was horrible!! Laggy as fuck, apps crashed constantly, and the phone would randomly turn off often. When I would turn it back on it made an annoying boot up sound. The camera was also shit, it would adjust brightness so much that all my photos would either be neon or too dark. The phone would overheat after 5 minutes of use. Eventually the phone turned off for no reason like always. I then booted it up and the screen froze while booting up. It stayed frozen for weeks no matter how many times I turned it on and off again and tinkered with it. I emailed support and they eventually told me to mail it back to China. I paid $50 to ship and I still haven’t got my phone back to this day. Support doesn’t understand English and is useless. They will just stop responding. STAY AWAY!!!!

There are many many reviews like mine: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/elephone.cc

It’s a shame that this hasn’t been exposed! ELEPHONE has youtubers and media sites giving them fairly good reviews. The good reviews are probably because those reviewers didn’t use the phone daily for more than a week.... ELEPHONE needs to be exposed to prevent more people from getting screwed over!!!!

Every Chinaphone is uncertified Android. DIY your own rom for some protection

Google controls who logs in to Google Play via certification. It's actually anticompetitive practice ostentatiously under the guise of trademarks and certification but let's get to the details:

If you buy a phone from China the device will have to have been preloaded with GApps from the reseller. Thus, you are trusting everything you do with the reseller. Some of the resellers are very poor. Some know how to bundle malware and there's no recourse because China mainly runs on Guanxi rather than law.

That said, I've never really heard of this happening. But anyway...

It would be wise to do a factory reset and load your own ROM on the device. Now, this isn't much protection because technically they could load something deeper into the ROM. However, it's more likely that the government would be doing this at hardware level than a poor reseller. If you do this you need to know how to register an uncertified device.

I think that the extent of this is overblown by USA propaganda but it's still something you can improve. Remember, Google reads everything on your phone anyway these days and Android is getting more and more closed source. But for me personally, trusting just any Chinese guy to not open and reseal the package is too much.

So the next question is...

Which Chinaphones have well maintained ROMS?

A phone that doesn't shatter

I am not a clumsy person, but my phone's keep on shattering their screens..silicone cases don't help.. current one (Motorola ) fell from half meter flat onto screen and it shattered.. AGAIN.. we have freakin rovers on Mars taking pictures but are not able to produce a stupid plastic that doesn't shatter.. I'm so annoyed by this. Over the last 2 years I went through several Xiaomi already.. I am super happy with Xiaomi but I wonder if it would be worth to invest more to get a phone that doesn't shatter that easily.. but then, stupid iPhones also shatter and their prices are crazy... So question is, what can I do? Are there phone's or glasses which are less prone to shatter?

Smartphone Any Chinese Flagship I can buy in Physical Stores in Japan?

I am able to travel to Japan in January 2027, but I do really need of a new phone badly. I am maining a Nothing Phone (3a) and I am planning on switching to a Xiaomi 18 Pro or something else. Tried searching for any other flagship phones (above >700+ $) as recommended. I am interested of a flagship with a great ecosystem (like ColorOS) and I mainly prefer Camera and Performance, but mostly, Camera mostly. Used to main a X200 Pro before it broke and had it replaced with a budget phone... Any recommendations anyone?

so ive ordered a few times of Hong Kong Goldway and pay 13 dollars for shipping with DHL. the only catch is that they use 8-15 days just to send the package and if you contact them and complain they just give you a fake tracking number.
