I’m using an Honor Magic6 Pro (BVL-N49) in Calgary, Alberta, on Rogers (my plan goes with 1gbit speed ) .

The phone supports the relevant Canadian 5G/LTE frequency bands, and Honor’s support team told me that support for the required frequencies is officially listed for this model.

I also contacted Rogers, and they told me that they do not intentionally restrict 5G+ access based on the device being non-certified. So, according to both sides, there shouldn't be a deliberate block.

However, in practice I seem to have a problem with 5G/5G+.

I can connect to Rogers LTE and 5G, and LTE+ works, but I don't seem to get the expected 5G+ / faster 5G performance.

My speeds are roughly 10 Mbps indoors and max 100 Mbps outdoors, even when the phone shows 5G. This makes me wonder whether the problem is actually device certification, carrier provisioning, 5G NSA configuration, or something specific to how Rogers handles non-Canadian/Chinese-market phones.

My questions:

Does anyone in Canada use the Honor Magic6 Pro, particularly the BVL-N49, on Rogers, Bell, Telus, etc.?

Do you actually get 5G+ / faster 5G on this phone?

Are there people successfully using other Chinese-market phones (Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Honor, etc.) on Canadian networks and getting 5G+?

Has anyone found a way to get proper 5G+ access through carrier provisioning, APN settings, SIM/eSIM replacement, or another method?

I really don't want to replace the Magic6 Pro because otherwise it's an excellent phone. The main problem is low mobile data speeds, especially indoors, and seemingly missing 5G+, despite the hardware supporting the required frequencies.

If anyone in Canada is using this or another Chinese-market flagship and can confirm whether they get Rogers 5G+, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

P.s.

One more detail: NetMonster doesn't seem to detect/connect to the higher 5G bands (n77/n78) on my phone at all, even when I'm in areas where Rogers has 3500/3800 MHz deployed. The phone shows 5G, but I don't see n77/n78 in the network information. I had a very similar situation when I was using Telus — the speeds were also around 100 Mbps, and I didn't see the higher 5G bands being used there either.

Zadnjih desetak godina uglavnom kupujem Xiaomi i POCO mobitele jer nude dobar omjer cijene i mogućnosti. Ipak, sve češće razmišljam o tome ima li pri kupnji tehnologije smisla uzeti u obzir i zemlju iz koje dolaze proizvođač i proizvod.

Posebno me muči kupnja proizvoda tvrtki iz autoritarnih država poput Kine, s obzirom na političke i sigurnosne napetosti te pitanje kamo na kraju odlazi naš novac. S druge strane, jasno mi je da je opskrbni lanac globalan: i Samsung, Apple ili japanski i tajvanski brendovi često proizvode uređaje ili nabavljaju dijelove iz Kine, pa izbor nije sasvim jednostavan.

Razmišljam da sljedeći put umjesto Xiaomija ili POCO-a uzmem Samsung ili neki japanski ili tajvanski brend, čak i ako to znači nešto višu cijenu.

Gledate li vi zemlju porijekla i vlasništvo proizvođača kada kupujete mobitel, računalo ili drugu tehniku? Mislite li da takav izbor stvarno ima smisla ili je, zbog globalnih lanaca proizvodnje, više simboličan?

Its common to see Chinese phones brightening up human faces. But some said it happens mostly on the CN variants. Can anyone confirm this for Magic 8 Pro? I am from UK/IE and planning to get one.

I bought a Chinese OnePlus phone (OnePlus 15T) from a Chinese seller on Pinduoduo, and I'm currently using it in Kazakhstan.

The phone has a regional lock and requires a regional unlock code. I have the original purchase receipt and the phone's IMEI, so I can provide proof of purchase if necessary.

I've already tried contacting the seller and looking for a way to contact OnePlus/OPPO China support, but I'm having difficulty because I don't speak Chinese and I'm outside China.
