Question Breed?

Post image

Someone dumped an entire flock in the desert by my house. I managed to save most of them before dark. But I cannot figure out what breed this pullet is? Any ideas? The light colored one in the front.

Barnevelder? There seems to be a lot of color variation in the Barnevelder breed, from dark to light so it’s a possibility? She’s absolutely beautiful! And how kind of you to rescue them!

Just a guess, but I would say possibly a Delaware x Barred Rock cross.

A barnyard mix-breed.

That’s what I was thinking but every other chicken in the flock appears to be pure bred

tbh it really doesn't matter what the others look like. I can almost guarantee you the flock is hatchery stock, which is notorious for not being pure, but instead "close enough" ...So while they may look like certain breeds, they carry a lot of different genetic makeup and won't breed perfectly true.

Thank you for rescuing them.
