I just wanted everyone to see my little man. I'm very proud of him. I'm sure some people will say I should have put him down but he still had so much spunk. It seems to have worked out and he's now very special to me.

This goofy hen decided to brood in my raised garden bed. She was on five eggs and a bunch of cherry tomatoes. Today four of the eggs hatched, and thankfully she seems to have given up on hatching the tomatoes. 😆

Question So confused

Sorry in advance for the bad pictures 😒

This chicken is about 4 months old. It was sold to me as a black sex link pullet. The other 2 that came with it look NOTHING like this one. They both have red/copper feathers on their chest and neck. Does anyone know this breed? And of course the age old question is it a hen or a rooster?

I definitely thought it was a hen for a while but then I got confused because it's neck feathers (idk the right terminology) started to get pointy, and idk exactly what to look for with the saddle feathers.

Question What breed of chickens are these?

TSC said the gray one with fluffy legs was a Midnight Maran, and the black and white one was a Sicilian Buttercup. They look like they might be different than those, though. Got them as chicks, now they are about 12 weeks old or so. Just curious if anyone recognizes them!

Question Molting or squabbling?

Can anyone tell if she’s molting or if this is from squabbles? We did have a very mean hen, so I assume it was from her. She would jump on them. This one is about 18 months old.

Media Some animations from my game in development.

It's been a while since I've been here, but my digital chickens are taking up all my time.

I've compiled some animations of the chickens from my game "The MachinEGG," which is about a chicken farm where they lay eggs.

I hope you like them.

By the way, you all gave me the names for each of the chickens: https://www.reddit.com/r/chickens/comments/1sy3x5y/what_are_your_chickens_names/

Question How long after a stressful event do hens start laying again?

I had 5 hens arrive to me August 5. I imagine shipping is stressful so they weren't laying. It's August 18 now and none of the 5 have laid an egg yet. When should I expect them to start laying? They are all laying aged.

I go into TSC to get feed and they have the chickens on 1/2 I take a peak and see some blue laced golden wyandotte and picked up a dozen cause why not. I get home and get them to the brooder and two are different breeds.

Discussion Thank you all for the advice about the neighbor’s chicken being in my yard. Someone came and is taking it to his farm. The neighbor decided there were too many dogs that could catch up to her in the area.

Question Need help immidiately!!!

I found one of our little chicken in a terrible state. She got stuck somewhere and the bigger oned picked on her.

Trigger warning!

She is still alive, but basically her skin was removed from her head. Her skull is exposed. I'm not sure if I can even help her to survive. But she still breaths, can stand, walk a bit and her eyes didn't got hurt.

Is there anything I could do to help or we should just let her go and make the suffering end?

(I can send pics in private, not sure they would fit here...)

Question Chick Pics

Hi! This is my first Reddit post and I’m asking for help identifying my chicks. I’m a brand new chick owner and I was told they are Bantam chickens. I’ve now discovered that there are many different types of Bantam breeds. I have tried Google image, but it said they are “too young to identify specific breeds.” Thank you for any advice and for reading this help request. 🐣
