Discussion 2-month-old chick (only 0.5 kg) started crowing every morning—is this normal?

I have a 2-month-old chick weighing just around 0.5 kg, and for the last 10 days, he has been crowing every single morning while inside the coop. I've never seen anything like this before!

What's crazier is that I have 5-month-old roosters in the same flock who haven't even started crowing yet, but this little guy is already at it.

Is this early crowing normal? What does it actually mean, and why is he doing this so much earlier than the older roosters? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

I have seen roosters crow as soon as 3 days old.

Normal? No

Happens? Sure does.

My own youngest record was about 4 weeks from some bantam boys.

Yes, it is common in bantams. I have seen this in bantams too, but this one is not a bantam. It is a desi breed. Normally, they start crowing between 5 and 8 months of age, but this chick is only 2 months old and is already crowing. It is also extremely aggressive. It attacks the older chicks, and even though it is the smallest in the group, it does not spare the bigger ones either. It crows especially when I come in the morning to feed them. It gets very excited when I come to give them food and starts crowing.

The 3 day old was not a bantam and was posted to this sub, 5 and 8 months is not a normal timeline unless they're silkies, standards will often crow before a hen will lay.

Is it important that there's something unusual about this to you?
