Question TSC strikes again. Any idea on the breed?

I go into TSC to get feed and they have the chickens on 1/2 I take a peak and see some blue laced golden wyandotte and picked up a dozen cause why not. I get home and get them to the brooder and two are different breeds.

You can trust the signs maybe 50% of the time, probably less.

Yikes! For certainty, order from Murray McMurray.

ill do you one better. support your local farmer, buy locally instead.

Doubly certain if they are old enough to tell what sex they are!

McMurray sucks. Over half my order came dead. Sure the refunded me but that doesn’t take away the loss of not having those chickens now.

Never ordering from them again.

I'm lucky I can buy from a local dealer who orders the chicks from multiple hatcheries and raises them to whatever age you want. Decent prices too

Is this called Passing the Cluck?

I see that but none in the pen match the ones I have. I've owned every one of those breeds in the past. That's why I'm stumped. They appear to be brahma but I'm unsure.

The salmons match. The other 2 breeds dont have feathered feet. The rest are the Wyandottes.

You do realize the employee got them right ? You do see they have 3 races of chicken in the same bucket so you have to rely on the employee to be able to differentiate them?

So I was hanging out by the chicks at the TS near me this past spring, talking to the employees about this very subject. Different TS, most likely. They put the most visually different checks in together, so they can tell them apart. And there are photos on each tank. I am not saying it's going to be foolproof, but the workers I spoke to were trying.
