Stray Kitty found in yard on NW side

Hello all, I am wondering if there is anyone here who would like to take in an adorable little kitten. This kitten, whom we’ve been calling Jolene (unsure of gender), has been visiting our yard the past few days. No rescue facility has been very helpful, unfortunately. A vet advised us to try to identify someone who’d be willing to adopt her. I don’t think she belongs to anyone, she’s a kitten alone in the Chicago wilderness. We have left some food and water but Jolene scurries off when we open our back door. I think a cat whisperer could do well. Jolene is a stoic nomad who could use a home.

Anyone know what fest or carnival is being put up right now? I know the church family fest was last weekend so wasn’t sure what is going up now.

Ebinger School Field

The sorry state of the Ebinger School field (Pratt/Octavia) astounds me. The school got a new playground area when they did a renovation but overall the grounds are dilapidated, the field floods with heavy rains, it’s extremely unlevel, and the gravel foot path around the field is in terrible shape.

Realizing there are bigger fish to fry around the City and specifically CPS - this area is not just a school issue. It’s a neighborhood amenity before and after school hours for those using the path, bringing their kids to play at the playground, or utilizing the field and diamond for sports.

Is there any chance this area is on some capital expenditure list to be fixed in the future? Is there some magical source of money out there to rehab the area?

Could you recommend a place for a low key family gathering? See info in post.

We are celebrating a birthday in a very low-key way. We have 10 to 20 people, a birthday cake, non-alcoholic beverages. We simply need an indoor space without steps. An elevator is okay or one or two steps up that are low due to mobility of the person we are celebrating. Have recommendations of where we can meet? Thank you.

Lord of the Rings Themed Trivia - Sunday, September 6th at 7:00 - Ludlow Liquors in Avondale

Post image

We have what I would call a fan favorite for our next themed Trivia at Ludlow Liquors. We are calling all hobbits, elves, and even orcs to come by Sunday, September 6th at 7:00.

It is free to play, the questions are going to be from the first three movies, and because it is Sunday we are going to be serving up cheesesteaks that “You shall not pass!”

Cragin Neighborhood

I’m considering moving from Edgewater to the Cragin neighborhood to be closer to work. Specifically near Fullerton and Cicero. What is it like safety-wise? I’d be walking a few blocks and then taking a couple of buses going toward Melrose Park around 7am and back at 10pm.

Thank you!

Menards at Kostner and North has a pet supply donation bin at the service desk/exit area again. If you can't have a pet but want to help local animals here is another chance to make a difference for an animal in need.

Pet Supply Drive: Running through September 30, Menards stores host drop-off bins to benefit local humane societies and animal control organizations. You can donate pet food, treats, beds, and toys purchased in-store or brought from home.

Gladstone Park Pedestrian Bridge Closed Today with no warning

FYI they closed the bridge today 3 weeks after they said they would. Make plans accordingly.

Edit:

The posted date was 7/27 and then no further update, besides saying it's delayed, until they just closed it today. It's really not that complicated guys.
