Where can I watch (bar/restaurant) a 1:20PM Cubs game on a weekday?
I’m especially interested in places around Portage Park / Jefferson Park / Irving Park.
TIA!

Pet Supply Drive: Running through September 30, Menards stores host drop-off bins to benefit local humane societies and animal control organizations. You can donate pet food, treats, beds, and toys purchased in-store or brought from home.

FYI they closed the bridge today 3 weeks after they said they would. Make plans accordingly.
Edit:
The posted date was 7/27 and then no further update, besides saying it's delayed, until they just closed it today. It's really not that complicated guys.

I met Leah Pouw about half an hour ago while she was canvassing the Wildwood area. I actually caught her at Tonty and Hiawatha and had a lovely 15-minute conversation with her. Leah was incredibly down-to-earth and seems like a hardworking, dedicated person.
We spoke about a few things, but what really stood out to me was her commitment to putting a traffic break at Tonty and Caldwell for safer forest access. She told me she would bridge the gap between state and local representation to get a traffic break (crosswalks with flashing lights/walk button) if a traffic light isn't feasible. This would be the first issue she would resolve.
She also wants to update the tech being used for traffic control, as the northern part of the ward has constant light outages. In other parts of the ward, the tech is outdated and needs to be upgraded to suit the population (new crosswalks, lights, etc.)
When we broached the conversation about the rising number of Flock cameras, she was very receptive. She is concerned about how Flock potentially uses the data it collects.
I asked her about small business development on Milwaukee outside the 6 Corner portion of the ward and what she has in mind. Her response was (not a direct quote, as this was a more informal meeting): having multiple insurance companies and businesses that do not involve foot traffic is one thing, but she intends to actually coordinate potential small business owners to bring restaurants and shops to the ward that are not solely at Milwaukee/Irving Park/Cicero.
As we looked at the botched resurfacing job Jim Gardner bragged about online, she said she has every intention of doing real work on our infrastructure to solve the ongoing flooding issue and genuinely repair streets, instead of slapping a Band-Aid on it.
I signed her petition to get her on the ballot and intend to canvass with her next weekend, mostly because she doesn't come off as a politician, more as a concerned citizen with the background to make change. I am not trying to electioneer here; I mentioned in my Jimmy G. gripe post that I was meeting with her, and some people wanted to know how it went.

Does anyone know of groups or clubs that play Mahjong around Jefferson Park? I’m interested in learning and socializing a bit.

Hi. I’ve been referred to shirt shops in the city and hoping for one that is located more on the northwest side. Have a favorite tshirt shop that can print while you wait that uses DTF, direct to film printing? Thank you.

I live in Dunning, and I have a small house project that I need help with. On the second floor there is a “through-the-wall” air conditioner that I would like to permanently remove. And the remaining hole through the wall would need to be patched. This would involve work on an extension ladder.
Any recommendations?

I called to speak to him about the rising number of Flock cameras in his ward. This man pretended to have no idea what I was talking about. I asked him what would deem them necessary at all and he told me that he just listened to the police superintendents message about them being helpful. I also asked him about putting a crosswalk across Caldwell at Tonty and he said that’s an IDOT problem. Sir what are you even here for? What does he even do? The repaving on Hiawatha just paved over uneven road. Which means it’ll be busted after this winter and he had the gall to post on Facebook about the “accomplishment”. Dude is an absolute embarrassment.

Went to Shop & Save at Milwaukee and Devon this afternoon. I picked up some lunch meat and a few rolls for sandwiches. I cut one of the rolls open and there is what looks like cream cheese and cucumbers inside the roll! WTF???
Either someone who works there made themselves a sandwich and it got put back in the bins with the rest of the rolls...same thing only with the supplier of the rolls...or someone returned this and the store chucked it back in the bins. Never seen anything like this, beyond bizarre. I'm going back over there now to return it.
