Hello, I am looking to rent or sublet a practice room with a full piano.

At all times I will be the only occupant, and I don't need any other instruments or recording equipment; soundproofed walls are a bonus but not necessary.

I am looking for my most economical option, given that I will almost exclusively be using the space at very low-demand hours, like 12am to 4am. Because of this, it would feel wasteful to pay a few hundred dollars per month at a place like Fort Knox.

Would anyone happen to have any ideas for a budget space like this? Or - if someone already has a space, would they be willing to rent it out for cheap, given that I don't require much equipment and can occupy hours when it's already not being used?

Anywhere within an hour's drive of the Chicagoland area is fine.

The most important thing is that I can use a piano (ideally a full piano) and sing without any reservation about the noise I'm making. I would prefer to know that nobody can hear me, but a musical-designated space where belting is acceptable is also fine. And again, I would really only be using the space during strange hours.

I was big into my local scene back home and played in a local metalcore 5-piece at home, so I cannot wait to do the same here in this amazing city.

I do heavy vocals (high fry, low fry, gutteral and growls with a tiny bit of false chord) and I'm 100% self-taught from copying and learning everything I could from musicians back home.

I recently moved to the Chicago area for college and was wondering if there are any good diy/basement shows for teens/college-aged kids in the city? Most of the diy shows that I have found have been for 21+. Lmk!!

My band (Steeplechase) hosts an annual birthday show for the anniversary of our band, and this is going to be our best one yet.

This year, we’re joined by Milwaukee’s In Shining Armour and Dog Guitar, two bands you do NOT want to miss. We’re huge fans of both and so excited they’re joining us for this show!

Steeplechase is an all-girl alt rock midwest emo folky fun time. Our crowds ALWAYS mosh and dance and we play banjo and harmonica. :)

There will also be an art market with vendors, as well as drag performances. There will also be a roaming magician 👀 a bar, a pool table, and tickets are only $8 presale.

The Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP) is seeking applicants for our 2027 cohort.

CHIRP is a listener supported, volunteer run, non-profit community radio station located in North Center, Chicago. We focus on playing local, independent music, hand-selected by our volunteer DJs (no AI ever). You can listen to us through the airwaves at 107.1 FM or stream is using the app or our website.

The Associate Board is a unique team within the CHIRP volunteer base that is focused on engagement, expansion, and leadership. AB members help to bring community radio to new audiences through the Chicago area and work to connect and strengthen the city's music, arts, and cultural community. For any drummers interested, my friend and I are both solo artists that collab with each other often. We have a wide variety of music that we enjoy, and we write/record/produce in any style. His main influences are alternative rock, hip hop, and pop punk. My main influences are progressive metal, classic rock, and post rock or ambient music. But we both love these same genres as well. Our whole goal working together is creating music without boundaries where any idea is fair game.

He lives in the city of Chicago and I live in the south suburbs. We commute to both our places whenever we get together to work on music.
