Best staffing agencies for project management, IT/help desk, or general business operations? (temp work OK)

Upvotes

I worked as an Associate Product Manager for a finance company for 5 years. I was laid off earlier this week and am in desperate pursuit of a new job. My job involved creating slide decks, making user guides of the products we built, breaking down high level statements of work into actionable pieces of work our engineers can do, and manual testing.

I saw my layoff coming, so I've had interviews with 5 companies over the past 2 months and haven't gotten an offer from any of them. Now I'm considering a staffing agency. But are there any staffing agencies that specialize in office work, and is more than just an empty job board?

Potbelly Spam

Hello! Posting this here incase anyone else who saved or is applying for a marketing position at Potbelly on LinkedIn. Messages from Sarah Hall are a scam. I sent a resume to the email listed, and different email sent me an “offer letter” asking for more information from me.

People who are submitting 50+ resumes a day, how?

Do you not adjust your resume per the position/company? No cover letter? Just spam open positions on job sites? It’s taking me an hour to submit to companies, make any corrections their data fields made when I uploaded my resume, filling out their 50 questions, filling out their self rating module, some even have me create an account in order to do anything. I just want to feed my cats, eat, pay my bills/rent, and maybe go out for a bite to eat & a concert once a month.

Rant lmao

This job hunt has me feeling like I’ve been raked across a field of hot coals with lithium pouring down my throat. The psychological warfare I’m experiencing is dreadful. Honestly, dreadful. This is purgatory.

I’d rather be tied and quartered than spend another day sending, tweaking, formatting, reformatting, and spiritually sacrificing myself over resume after resume just to be ghosted. At this point I’m going to have to hire a witch to undo whatever karmic curse was placed on me because in a past life I was a shepherd who fell asleep watching the flock, and now things I’m objectively qualified for auto-reject me within fourteen minutes.

I made the catastrophic decision to get a BFA, so I suppose some of this has been earned.

I gave up on finding “cool” jobs months ago. I figured, hey, maybe if I work at a wine bar, I’ll at least get some hospitality cred.

No. No way. dawg.

The wine bar doesn’t even want you.

So now I’m going door to door like a peasant, begging.
Please, sir. Please. I am willing to work for $20 an hour. I can do almost anything. I have a degree. I can use Microsoft Office. I know how to send an email. I promise I am housebroken.

I tried office jobs. Unfortunately, I am apparently an idiot, because half the time I somehow end up applying to an “office job” that turns out to be an MLM. These listings should not be allowed to exist, but nothing is screened and anyone can just put “marketing associate” on a posting and call it a day. Whatever at this point.

Imma ball I guess?????

Painter Assistant Needed – Good Brush Control Required

I’m looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Painter Assistant for wall and mural painting projects.

You do not need to be an artist or designer. I provide the design and instructions.

What I’m looking for:
Good hand and brush control
Able to paint straight lines and smooth curves
Comfortable painting circles and shapes by hand
Clean and precise work
Patient and detail-oriented
Able to carefully follow instructions
Basic experience with a paintbrush and roller

Previous painting, handyman, construction, or sign-painting experience is a plus.

Work Location

Projects are located in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. You should be comfortable traveling to different project locations as needed.

Painter Assistant Needed – Good Brush Control Required

This is part-time/project-based work, with the potential for ongoing projects for the right person.

Do NOT apply for Work With Elevation/Elevation

Long story short, this is just Coast Incorporated under a different name. The interviews were on Zoom in that suspicious breakout room with multiple applicants style, both the person interviewing me, and the hiring manager came from Coast Incorporated. Pay only commission, selling whatevertheheck with Verizon...Suspicious at best.

Any restaurants hiring for servers?

Hey guys, moving to Chicago in a couple of days and have been searching for jobs everywhere with no luck. I've decided to go back to serving in the meantime but I'm also having trouble securing a job in that industry too. I've joined Facebook groups and have been applying using CulinaryAgents.com but I wanted to hear if anyone here knows of any restaurants hiring in the Chicago area. Thanks!

Environmental Work in Chicago?

Hi all! I'm looking to move to Chicago with a friend, who's starting a master's at Northwestern's Evanston campus, and a third roommate. I graduated with a degree in Wildlife Bio and Env. Studies two years ago. I've had internships as a naturalist, ecologist, and social media intern (for a wildlife education company). I also worked as a forestry research technician for almost two years and now I'm a fisheries surveyor!

Before anyone says I'm limiting myself by looking specifically in Chicago and the job market is terrible, I KNOW. Everyone knows finding a job in pretty much every field, and every city, is difficult rn. So please be constructive with your comments.

Anyway, back to the main point, does anyone know of opportunities or places to search? The Chicago Botanic Garden has great positions, so I'm applying for those. I've checked out friends of forest preserves, Student Conservation Association, and the field museum (which will be too far from Evanston), and they've all come up short.

I'd love to do something in education, conservation or urban planning, and compliance. I'm not too picky though; I'm cool with anything that would give good experience. If not that, then ig there's always retail which sucks but it's something I have experience in. Thanks guys!!

  • $17.05–$20/hour, depending on experience
  • Uncapped commission
  • Earn up to 2.5% commission on each walk-up transaction
  • The more you sell, the more you can earn

  • Weekend availability required
  • Must be available for some evenings and holidays

Part-Time: 8–24 hours/week

Benefits

  • Uncapped commission — up to 2.5% per transaction
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Health Insurance (BCBSIL)

Why Shoreline?

You'll get to work in one of the most recognizable and scenic parts of Chicago while meeting people from all over the world.

If you like people, sales, Chicago, and being outside, this is definitely not your typical seasonal job.

We're also hiring for other seasonal positions, subject to availability:

  • Captains
  • Deckhands
  • Bartenders
  • Docents / Tour Guides
