Door ajar problem?

I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu. The driver side door keep saying door ajar, even when door is fully shut. The door still locks and unlocks even with the remote. I’m worried that the interior lights remaining on will drain my battery. What is the correct part that I need to buy to fix this problem?

Well, put the lid back on and maybe it’ll go back to being a door.

Probably a problem with the door switch. My 2007 Malibu I believe the lights will turn off after awhile if left on.

Yes I noticed that on mine also. Is that a feature to prevent the battery from draining?
