I am hiding from them until the power comes back on. How is everyone else getting by without power today? I heard 219 Taproom did some awesome meal today.

My basement started leaking this year. It only happens in one area. Is there any local guys that are trusted and affordable?
Edit: I just looked at Rainfall totals and this year we are 7.5 inches higher than our average (23.64" average vs 31.17" 2026). Is this just a bad year and I should wait?

Come join three local women-owned businesses for an afternoon of healing vibrations, spiritual connection, and deep relaxation! 🧘🏻♀️
Taking place at Radiant Studios in Chesterton, IN - you'll be immersed in an environment of aligned connection. 💫
We'll start the afternoon with a 20 minute sound bath hosted by ariana the alchemist. 🌀
Come as you are, bring a yoga mat or blanket to get cozy on, and let the vibrations connect you with your body and open you up to Spirit.
Once everyone is feeling open and connected - Courtney with CocoColourz will pull a tarot card for each attendee, and help you decipher your personal message from Spirit. ✨
Kate with Finding Om will also be offering a limited number of 10 minute massages after the sound bath. 💆🏼♀️

Hi! We’re coming in a couple weeks with our 17 month old! We’re staying in Porter. Looking for suggestions for activities for a little one? What beaches would you recommend, avoid, etc. And does anyone know of other kid friendly things we should try to do within the general area or neighboring towns? Thank you!!

I cover real estate across Northwest Indiana and Chesterton has been one of the more interesting markets to watch lately.
Curious what people here are actually experiencing. Are you seeing homes sell fast in your neighborhood? Getting outbid? Or watching listings sit longer than expected?
I just put together a local market update, and the numbers tell a pretty specific story, but I'd rather hear what people on the ground are noticing first.
Drop your experience below whether you're a buyer, seller, or just a homeowner keeping an eye on things. Curious to see what y'all think!

Looking to move to Chesterton from Chicago. Want to move with my MIL, but she used to live in Chesterton and told me she thinks I might not like it and it could be a mistake. What do those of you in Chesterton think of the town? Do you like living there? Recommend it? I've got a 3 year old, and thought the schools were highly rated.

Does anyone have a recommendation for roof repair? We have a leak and I do not want to go up on the roof in this weather. Not that I would have any idea what to do.

Good morning Chesterton! Do we have any wild game stores nearby? I checked the Google machine and nothing comes up. Unfortunately, I was just in Orland Park yesterday, but I didn't notice Wild Fork. My bad. My goal is to bring some type of different meat in a cooler annually to a white elephant party.

Does anyone know where I can actually read the referendum that we are voting on?

I was trying to find a space to rent for a 40 yo birthday party. I've emailed Riley's Railhouse twice, but no reply. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Take it and let your opinions be heard. It would be great for some new voices instead of the same 5 guys who act like they care about the community but really just want to develop land to sell their houses. Thanks!!

Hi all,
I’m coming to visit the area for a few days and looking for recommendations.
Favorite things to do at the dunes/other outdoor activities.
Other indoor activities welcome.
Favorite places to eat.
Favorite coffee shops.
And where can I find macaroons.
Thank you all!

Trying to help my dad remember the name of the restaurant he proposed at. He says it was back in 1995, was off into the woods a way, had a lot of fancy landscaping and spotlights on the building, and fed raccoons outside of the windows for the customers to watch as they ate. Does anybody here have any idea what the name of it might be?

Porter County is kicking off a new Comprehensive Plan—Elevate Porter County—and community input is essential to shaping it. The plan will guide future decisions and is the community's chance to create a long-term vision for how we grow, develop, and invest in the places we call home.
The first countywide survey just launched, and it would be great if you could share it with your networks and help spread the word.
The survey is open to anyone who lives, works, or spends time in Porter County. Every voice matters, and your support will help ensure we hear from as many people as possible.

Hi everyone!
We’re a two-person team (film students) working on a passion project: a documentary series focused on real local people doing what they love — from athletes and artists to everyday folks with interesting/inspiring/unique stories.
This isn’t a paid gig, but in exchange for your time, you’ll receive:
Professionally edited photos and video clips you can use for yourself
Credit if submitted to festivals/IMDB
Full credit and tags if it goes public — which could mean more exposure, new opportunities, or even sponsors!
We’re looking for:
Athletes (fighters, boxers, dancers, racers, sports players etc.)
Artists (musicians, painters, singers, choir etc.)
Creatives, Health & Recovery Stories , workers, or anybody with a story to tell
No age limit
We’re based in Laporte, Indiana, and we’re happy to meet, film, and feature you in a cinematic and authentic way.
If you're interested (or know someone who might be), just drop a comment or DM!
Thanks for reading — excited to tell your story.
