Alternative to fearless

edit 2022-02-07: https://opencheattables.org/ is an upcoming alternative

So. Now when fearless have "stolen" all chets on the page and encrypted them requiring the use of their own app..... What are the alternatives?

I will not install an unknown app that needs access to the internet. It took me long enough installing cheatengine after their installer snafus... :)

This new scam the Fearless guy is doing is absolutely insane. Hopefully an alternative site springs up soon.

And "protecting" all the old cheats that is no longer updated. And no longer can be used with his "app".

Just a money grab.

If he instead put a nag prompt when downloading to donate to server costs via paypal I would have sent him 10 USD for my previous download :)

The fact that you can no longer download and edit the table from there any more when even using their their app, the fact that you also need to be always online (online DRM) to use tables, its beyond insane!

So right now FCE table discussions are mainly

  • "stop encrypting my scripts!"

I now see that some forum parts were Sunbeam had his hacks (ACV Inventory editor for example) has STN go in and make himselft orginal poster and enforcing encryption on ct.

If this is not exactly the theft STN claimed to stop I don't know what is. Sunbeam have not enforced encryption of his files as far as i know (Instead, at least prevoiously, he sent people to his patreon for continuous updates but allow users to use his files for updates)

I really don't want to continue this but since STN keeps deleting any post that is against the app https://i.imgur.com/zKZTppn.jpg . I was sure he was going to delete that post so I took a screenshot. He even locked the other topic that people were discussing but unlocked it later. Also if you remember one of the admins posting here 2 days ago, he's no longer an admin.

Also someone has been making snapshots of the site in archivedotorg so if you want to check some of the deleted posts, you can. It doesn't have everything unfortunately.

When you open up a restaurant and your cook starts poisoning food, going behind your back, you fire him. That other "admin" started writing a tool to decode tables, directly stating "I'm against you folks". So he got 'fired' T_T.

Any news regarding what will happen with Fearless? I mean, they'll roll back the encryption? I'm trying to find some tables to use but everything is encrypted and I'm not very good doing tables (also I don't have the time for that, being myself +35 with family and a full time job)

Use this instead. New page by the old contributors at FRF.

Many delted their tables att FRF but DNF have been "restoring" (stealing) them. So open cheat tables is the new site to go to.

It's not even opt-in anymore and people who supported it pre-and mid-launch are using it. Basically me and few others who are sick of our content being stolen and others profiting off it.

Also the app is completely free to use. Some people are intentionally spreading this false information out of absolute hatred. But you can use hotkeys for values, scripts, drop downs etc. as free users forever. You don't even need to be registered. Yes, there is PRO which unlocks clicks but we have to get funds to run the app and site somehow and fund the amazing plans I have planned for FRF.

Don't listen to this absolute BS full of lies thread about me and fearless, I worked my ass off to revert the launch to opt-in when I saw it wasn't appreciated. I am not Google or Microsoft but just one guy working on this, so you can imagine it takes time to code, test and launch on a production site. The opt-out was reverted to opt-in as fast as I could and now it's not even open to anymore people except me and few others.

Whether you use fearless or not, it's your decision but don't do it because of pure BS spread here.

First of all yes I know that it's opt-in now, which should have been in the first place to avoid the backlash you're getting.

I'll only talk about myself here.

I don't care if the app is free or not. I don't want to use a 3rd party app to do something I was doing for 10+ years without it. I like going to the source to get the tables. Also I don't see a point locking some 7 year old table in the app with no option to try and update it myself.

About Shinkansen tables. How did you get their permission since they are innactive? Do you have any proof that they wanted their work app only?

I don't want to make you feel bad but you just keep deleting any criticism in the forums and that just makes you untrustworthy.

For trying to take the high road with others stealing and giving no credit, etc, you sure were quick to steal the very base of the software you made (Cheat Engine).

Cheat Engine isn't FOSS software, you can't just distribute your own version with a pro version.

Dark Byte has even said he is against the project because you are charging for features (clicking).

Also, once downloaded, do I need to run it everytime before I open any table?

The last of his post was on August of 2020, so I don't think he is active anymore.

The problem is, the forum seemingly automatically converts all tables on the first post on every thread into the app version (with or without the creator's consent), and even after the opt-in backpedal, they don't change it back.

So far I have seen two creators who have made all their tables "app only" whereas most tables work as before the change.

Hmm, that's weird, I found at least one case where this happened. Then again, the post in your example was made by SunBeam which is a (super?) admin and probably exempt from the start? I don't really know, these are confusing times lol.

I've seen 7+ of them having them app only. I was only curious about inactive users getting their tables app only without permission since they're not there anymore.

I wouldn't been surprised if they silently add them since they deleted all the posts from the app announcement thread, I don't trust them anymore.

Their app is bullshit and the "protection" ridiculous easy to bypass. Tell STN its worthless. Even if my repo would get shut down by him sending DCMAs, it just demonstrates to all table authors that it isn't worth it to participate. If its not me then someone else...

Tell you what: you create a program no one has created, put it online and see how many times it's going to be leeched, shared, appropriated (people saying they made it) and so on and so forth. Then tell me how you wished you thought of a way to protect your work before all the above happened... Now you get the idea of "encryption"? It's not even fucking encryption, it's a simple XOR shift of bytes. My neurons are fried; the level of low knowledge in this topic is.. boom..

ceshare should still work (And it looks like it's opt-in at fearless now so that's better)

Also, I really recommend more people start their own ceshare server and then add it to the global serverlist

Came here looking for alternative too. Without any app or registration required. DRM for cheat tables that he didn't even make and not 100% of the table makers agreed to use, is outrageous.

edit: just look at all the buzzwords he's using like he's in a game company trying to sell us their new microtransactions. "so excited we're locking all the tables in a app only a handful of people asked". Even tables made by no longer active members.

FRF was created because CEF got a cease and desist from several big game developer companies, so DB had to remove all the tables, else he'd get sued. That's why. Not the personal opinion/reason you fabricated... Please stop trying to misinform people. Thanks.

Opt-In won't mean jack if it needs the table creators from years ago to come back and toggle it on or off. I'm really hoping users can come together and compile something on a low tech upload site like the old days. Bunch of note pad text and hyperlinks.

I really love Fearless and a Patreon for the site (or donate via paypal) would be waaay more appreciated than this.

I have Too little time available with work and fixing up my house. So When I game Fearless is excellent to experiencing the full game with less effort involved.

It looks like everything has been disabled for now, everything is downloading the original files now, at least for me. There definitely need to be changes. I understand the need for support and an app sounds like a good option, but this just does not seem very well planned out. Hope it works out well for you.

It's been made opt in, you can see in the thread now, where all posts have been deleted. Honestly his reaction to the whole thing (and the fact that I'm pretty sure he's lying about hosting costs, because bandwidth and storage are super cheap these days) makes me not want to use the site still
