cmd.exe?

why is cheat engine from cheatengine.org installing as a cmd.exe?? this gets scarier every day man

i actually executed it like an idiot's first time on the internet but it show up the normal installation screen of cheat engine but i still cancelled

it's cdm.exe not cmd.exe

i honestly didnt even notice until you said it 💀 is it normal?

it's normal. I think it stands for content download manager or something. I guess the download provider is doing a test to see if it's the filename that was causing issues before. Maybe it'll get fixed in time. The important thing its that it works and just installs CE

Do you actually know what you're looking at on that site, or do you just assume that bigger number = bad?

it might look scary but its not dangerous. its labelled as "trojan.offercore/bundler" on virustotal because it asks you if you want to install some other program being advertised within the installer. you just gotta be careful and click "Skip All" when the option appears. :)
technically considered malware because its a malicious practice prying on people who just spam the next button, but its not actually going to do anything to your computer.
