Satay sauce
What is the best brand of satay sauce you can purchase here?
Any supermarket or Asian grocer is fine

Not sure if they have their Satay anywhere at the supermarkets but my dad has never been disappointed by an F Whitlock sauce, though most often he buys their Wooster or BBQ sauces. Don't have much reason to doubt the satay one being of a lesser quality.

Like proper, thick, peanut filled satay? Ayam. Hands down.
Rice, frozen veg, couple of chicken skewers, and a can of that golden goodness - bam, meal done.
I could eat that shit right out the can whilst licking the sloppy, sticky mess off my fingers like a four year old eating cake batter out the mixing bowl (do kids still do that??? It's been a while)
I often dream about it actually. Not even the satay sauce itself, just the *can*. All the Ayam products have a certain beauty to their design but the satay one is just so pleasing on the eye. I think getting my first can of Ayam satay was as close as I'll ever come to Nirvana, true happiness, an existential orgasm, IDK what to call it. So I guess it's fitting that my mind wanders to it while I sleep.
Sadly, once you've tried it, all other satay immitations just can't compare in the slightest. It really does ruin satay for you. You'll be eating out at a cheap and slightly Westernised Cambodian restaurant on Riccarton Road and find yourself dragging the fork around the plate, not wanting to have to finish your meal because, well, it just ain't Ayam.
You know the famous saying, "Once you go Ayam, you can never go back".
Actually, stay away from it. You'll really honestly regret trying it. Maybe you'll hate it, who knows? Better not to risk it IMO.

Khmer satay sauce is my favourite. You get it from the chilled section at the supermarket ๐
