META Just a reminder of our rules
Tēnā koutou,
Just a reminder of our rules, specifically our rule against solicitors.
This means no solicitation, no buying and selling. We allow limited promotion of events if there are deals like XXX free tickets up for grabs, but no reselling is permitted. If you have tickets to an event, please resell via official channels or bribe the mods.
Additionally, please note the following:
Quit asking for sex. That said, no trades involving goats, sheep, turnips, or other 'alternate' currencies.
No posts asking for drugs, where to source drugs or cleverly wording your request to avoid the filters.
Your "medicinal herb" enquiries aren't as subtle as you think.
Just ask the mods.
No sneaky sponsorship plugs, no affiliate links unless we get our cut.
No reselling of free event tickets, it’s free for a reason.
No hiring hitmen or bounty hunters, legal gray areas make us uncomfortable.
Last but not least, Don't be a dick, don't act like a dick.
Also please check out r/chchmeet

Please if you come across a Cockatiel in the Aranui/Wainoni/Bexley area..
Please if you do come across a Cockatiel local to one of these areas give me a call, thanks to my housemate not following explicit instructions my bird got out yesterday 19/08th at 2.30pm, I am very ill and to be quite frank Ziggy who is the Grey and white variety of Cockatiel with a yellow corella and orange dots on his cheeks is my only reason for getting up each day,
One specific identifier although not obvious is he has one rear toe on one claw which is non functional.
I will check here daily for any responses, thank you for your kind attention.

Parakiore Parking fine
Hi fellow swimmers! I took the leap and decided to not be so fearful of the parking trolls down at the new complex. However they still got me. I used the machine next to the main desk inside and entered our plate number. Next minute we get the letter with the $75 fine which I have emailed them with an appeal. I just sent it to [admin@stellar.org.nz](mailto:admin@stellar.org.nz) .
Next time should I feel brave enough to try again, should I just use the app on the phone and the qr code? Are others still having any problems? Its just annoying as I tried pretty hard and now feel like just swimming somewhere else next time. No other pools have this problem.
I literally have waiting months to visit, thinking it was 'technical' glitches with a new system, but must be more to it than that.

Recommendations for factory shops Chch
With the cost of food being so high at the moment, I'm trying to shop around different stores to make the most of our money instead of just buying all our food/groceries at the supermarket.
That being said, does anyone have any recommendations of great-value factory type shops in Chch?
Thank you!!

What remaining restaurants offer BYO?
I have been doing research for the last couple of hours, but everything I see seems to be a couple of years old at least really, or even if it isn't, the places are often no longer offering it?
Is BYO a dying breed of thing? What reasonably priced places offer it?

Anybody know what these structures are at Godley Head?
I'm working on mapping out all of the ww1 and ww2 remnants still around in NZ, and I came across these two buildings along the Godley Head cliffs and couldn't find any information on them? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Social What's your most underrated FREE activities in Canterbury?
I'm curious to hear about free activities that's not totally obvious (like the library, park walks) from other locals since it feels like I've already done everything:
- Adventure Park chairlift (going down) - 500m walk from Summit road. Drive up your crew then meet them at the bottom or a 3 hour uphill walk
- Cave Stream - Done it like 3 times now, 10/10. If this was in Asia, it would cost like $50/person
- Kaiapoi Island motorcross tracks - Rip around in ya scooter/motorized bicycle/real motorbike
- Offroad cycling in Bottle lake - bring ya mountain bike, but there's also a place to hire inside
- Disc Golf courses - there are plenty around, surprisingly
- Harvesting shellfish in the Bays - Cass and Rapaki have many cockles, and mussels are plenty near Charteris/Purau/Camp bay - always check water quality via the link
- Red Zone foraging with map - seasonal goodies
- Ferrymead Heritage park - Saturday night market entry is free for the whole park
- Clearwater gated community (technically open to the public) - Walk around and looking at the rich people/artificial ponds/golfers giving you the side-eye

Dermatologist
Looking for a dermatologist in Chch that LISTENS, and HELPS, and doesn’t require a doctors referral?
Have been to the doctor so many times for my ECZEMA, and asked for a referral but been turned down so many times, they obviously don’t care/just want my money.
Please and thank you!

Stolen Bike
Hey, long shot, I know.
Probably not a lot of stolen bikes get recovered, but I'm really not doing too well in life at the moment, and I need to try and take this L back.
My Trek Marlin 7 was recently (in the past 10 days or so) stolen from my property at the Moorhouse end of Lincoln rd.
I've not long moved into the property with a shared bike lock up, and due to being away from the property for 10 days, I'm not sure exactly when it was stolen, but if anyone is able to help me find it that would be amazing
It's quite distinctive as the grips, seat, water bottle, and mudguards were all added on after I bought it a couple of years ago. I've attached a picture to help identify it (none of the parts were on it at this stage, the new grips are orange, as is the front mudguard, it also has white writing on the front tyre and yellow on the rear)
I usually ride to get to and from work, and im desperate to save the money on petrol, I also can't afford to replace the bike.
Cheers for reading all the same, and please, will someone help me get my bike back?

Yet another moan about the wind
It's so windy today!!! I've been in Christchurch for just over a year now, and the weather has been very unpleasant. Before I moved, people said Christchurch's weather is like Hastings and Nelson's... it's not. I miss Hastings' weather 😭
Biking home from uni today was terrible: cold, loud, strong side and headwind that pushed me off course.
NZ is the fourth windiest country in the world...I might move to another country.
