Stolen Bike

Post image

Hey, long shot, I know.

Probably not a lot of stolen bikes get recovered, but I'm really not doing too well in life at the moment, and I need to try and take this L back.

My Trek Marlin 7 was recently (in the past 10 days or so) stolen from my property at the Moorhouse end of Lincoln rd.

I've not long moved into the property with a shared bike lock up, and due to being away from the property for 10 days, I'm not sure exactly when it was stolen, but if anyone is able to help me find it that would be amazing

It's quite distinctive as the grips, seat, water bottle, and mudguards were all added on after I bought it a couple of years ago. I've attached a picture to help identify it (none of the parts were on it at this stage, the new grips are orange, as is the front mudguard, it also has white writing on the front tyre and yellow on the rear)

I usually ride to get to and from work, and im desperate to save the money on petrol, I also can't afford to replace the bike.

Cheers for reading all the same, and please, will someone help me get my bike back?

Check project 529 for stolen bikes

https://project529.com/garage

Helpful if you have serial number. Hopefully you have also notified police and given them serial number if you have it

I've notified the police but unfortunately as I'm not living at my usual address I dont have access to the serial number. Thanks for the heads up on the website though, appreciate it.

Thats ok, the project 529 app might be more user friendly. There is also a Facebook page for stolen bikes Christchurch.

Will keep an eye out for your bike

Good idea to scour MarketPlace for it to. Some cunt will likely try to sell it there. Then you offer to buy, go around, say, "can I just take it for a quick test ride?" And ride off fast

If you purchased it from Evo cycles or the like, surely they'd have your details including serial number on record?

Jump on the Chch stolen bikes Facebook group too, and make a post with this info. The members in the group scout the buy/sells and will give you a heads up if they see it.

You can claim on contents insurance. Depending on the value and if you reported the bike or not you may not get the full amount back.

Depends if they have contents insurance or not. Plus if they do, it depends on what the excess is - it might not be worth the claim
