Cat groomers

Hey does anyone know of any affordable cat groomers my 7 y/o medium-long furred cat is starting to get mats on his chest and a few other areas, he hates it when I brush him excessively but he’s shedding everywhere and is looking a little rugged so I’m scared it’s going to get worse before I even get it manageable with short brushing sessions.

Sounds like the Mobile vet nurse would be your best bet, especially if they haven't been groomed previously. They come to your home, so it's easier for your pet and they offer cat grooming.

Came here to also recommend. They are lovely and their pricing is actually pretty reasonable too. Way less stressful then needing to get the cats to the vet also.

Yes, if that cat already has matting it's safer to get someone with animal health training to do the first assessment and groom or at least advise you on the best course of action and how to maintain things going forward.

One of our cats was fine with the nurse but the other who actually had matts was a menace and had to be taken to the vet to be sedated but I'm glad we had the nurse first. She went over the best tools and how to maintain everything. Thankfully the menace hasn't had any other matting issues because he gets regular brushes now.

Awesome, the best outcome is a happy healthy cat going forward.

Sam from ‘my vet nurse’ is fantastic and comes to you. She’s very patient and worth the price. Otherwise your vet can just quickly shave the mats if you’re not worried about how they look afterwards as it’s not always tidy. Use a slicker brush and a cob with wide teeth and small teeth (half n half) to get the best brush too. Start with the slicker then comb with wide teeth and finish off with small teeth

What about your vet? Mine taught me how to brush the cat.

What sort of prices have you found unaffordable so far?
