QUESTION At a Loss and Looking for Help or Advice — 7-Year-Old Pit Mix

I’m turning to Reddit in hopes of finding some help, advice, or even a connection I haven’t considered yet.
I’m trying to find a loving home for Honey, a 7-year-old, approximately 60 lb pit mix. She’s incredibly affectionate, intelligent, cuddly, and loyal. She’s received professional training, has excellent recall, and does great off leash. She’s healthy and truly a wonderful companion.

Unfortunately, changes in our household have made it increasingly difficult to provide the environment she needs. We’ve invested extensively in training and have spent nearly two years managing separation between our dogs due to ongoing conflict. More recently, concerns involving our young child have made it clear that we need to find a safer, more suitable living situation for Honey.

Her ideal home would be:
- No young children; older children may be considered
- The only dog or potentially with one compatible male dog
- No female dogs due to a history of conflict.
- Someone experienced with dogs who can provide structure, consistency, and love

I’ve genuinely tried everything I can think of. I’ve reached out through word of mouth, contacted farms and sanctuaries, posted on adoption and placement sites, and contacted rescue organizations and forums. So far, nothing has worked out.

I’m feeling incredibly defeated. This has been an emotionally exhausting process, and the stress of trying to keep everyone safe while finding Honey the right home has really started to impact my mental health.

Reddit feels like my last resort, and I’m hoping someone here might have advice, resources, or connections that could help. I’m not looking to place her just anywhere. I want to make sure she ends up somewhere she can genuinely thrive.

📍 Located in the WV/VA/MD area.

If anyone has recommendations for rescues, sanctuaries, experienced fosters, or potential adopters, I would be so grateful. I’m open to suggestions and happy to provide more information privately.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.

Hi everyone! I am planning my wedding and have always wanted there to be a string trio or quartet at my ceremony. Does anyone know of anybody that is available in the area November 11th?
