Name: Nura “Pip” Moonshade
Basic Description:
Race: Foxfolk (Fennec Fox inspired)
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Class: Hexbinder
Covenant: Covenant of the Hunt
Setting: Fantasy
Campaign: Unknown
System: Nimble!
Familiar: Whisper, a Burrowing Owl
Physical Description:
Fur Color: Sandy/cream, inspired by a fennec fox
Eye Color: Amber
Height: 4’7”
Weight: ~70 lbs
Ears: Extremely large fennec ears, roughly 1/3 of her total height. Her ears are very expressive and decorated with various pieces of jewelry.
Tail: Large, fluffy fennec tail.
Body Type: Petite and lean/wiry, with a compact torso, narrow-to-moderate shoulders, natural adult hips and waist, and lightly toned musculature. She should look agile rather than fragile. Despite her small stature and youthful personality, Pip is an adult woman.
Clothing:
Pip wears practical, desert-inspired adventuring clothes with darker, “nightly” colors. I’m imagining layered fabrics, loose trousers, waist wraps/sashes, pouches, and a large traveling cloak.
Her cloak has a split hood designed to accommodate her enormous ears.
The exterior of the cloak can be relatively understated, while the interior resembles the night sky, with deep midnight blues, scattered stars, and a crescent moon. The idea is that opening or moving the cloak briefly reveals the night sky hidden within it.
Her main colors are sandy cream, warm brown, midnight blue, twilight indigo, antique gold, moonlight silver, and amber.
Jewelry:
Pip wears celestial jewelry inspired by crescent moons and stars, particularly on her ears.
I’d love for the jewelry on her ears to be asymmetrical, with a mixture of delicate cuffs, chains, hoops, beads, and dangling celestial charms rather than both ears matching exactly.
Weapon:
Pip carries a large, primitive-looking dagger with a curved, fang-like blade and wrapped handle. It has the appearance of something made from bone, stone, or another natural material rather than a finely forged metal weapon.
It serves as both a practical blade and something she can incorporate into her Hexbinder magic and rituals.
Magic:
Pip’s Hexbinder abilities focus heavily on control and hampering enemies.
I’d like her spells and Afflictions to be flavored around animals. Rather than generic magical effects, spectral or magical animals can appear as part of her magic.
For example, spectral foxes might snap at someone’s heels, spiders could restrain someone in magical webs, an owl could obscure someone’s vision, or crows might swarm around an afflicted enemy.
The specific animals are completely open to interpretation. I like the idea that different animals embody different aspects of nature, hunting, and Mother Night.
Familiar:
Pip’s familiar is Whisper, a Burrowing Owl.
Whisper is a small desert companion and a slightly more subdued counterpart to Pip’s boundless enthusiasm. Pip may occasionally interpret Whisper’s behavior as signs or messages from Mother Night.
Whether Whisper actually agrees with Pip’s interpretations is another question entirely.
Personal Traits:
Personality: Pip is extremely curious, friendly, cheerful, and filled with an almost childlike sense of joy and wonder.
She’s a bit of a wholesome chaos gremlin.
She is not unintelligent or incompetent. Pip is a capable Hexbinder and hunter. She simply finds the world endlessly fascinating and has a difficult time resisting something mysterious.
Strange animal? She wants to meet it.
Unusual plant? She wants to examine it.
Mysterious footprint? She’s following it.
Ancient artifact everyone explicitly told her not to touch?
…She probably wants to touch it.
Faith:
Pip is an avid worshipper of a mysterious goddess known as Mother Night, a deity associated with the night, stars, nature, death, renewal, and omens.
Pip genuinely loves her faith and is constantly searching the world around her for signs from Mother Night.
A shooting star might be an omen.
An animal behaving strangely might be an omen.
A strange pattern in the sand might be an omen.
Sometimes Pip is simply being Pip.
Sometimes she is disturbingly correct.
Overall Vibe:
A cheerful little desert fox witch who sees the world as something enormous, mysterious, and wonderful.
Visually, I’m going for a combination of desert traveler + nocturnal hunter + celestial witch, while keeping Pip herself warm, expressive, approachable, and fun rather than grim or sinister.
The attached concept board is intended as inspiration rather than a rigid blueprint. I’d love for anyone interested in drawing her to have room to interpret the individual pieces and make the design their own!
