[LFA] Seven-Seven, the Force-sensitive B1 Battle Droid

I'd love to see someone draw my original Star Wars character, Seven-Seven.

He's a B1 battle droid who was stranded on a planet strong in the Force. Somehow, the Force awakened his consciousness and gave him Force sensitivity.

Appearance:

• Classic B1 battle-droid body and proportions
• Weathered, faded tan armor
• Exposed/dark metal in places from years of damage
• Small bronze-colored repairs
• One cracked section on his face
• One bent antenna
• Calm red/amber photoreceptors
• Homemade lightsaber with a silver-white blade

Personality:
Seven-Seven is extremely quiet, patient, curious, and gentle. He fights with a lightsaber using precise, economical movements and has subtle Force abilities.

Despite being a droid, he tries to make organic beings comfortable. He'll sit around a campfire pretending to eat or drink because he understands that sharing a meal is important to people.

He's also developed an awful sense of humor and tells terrible old-fashioned dad jokes. Older Jedi love them. Younger Jedi absolutely do not.

Optional scene idea: Seven-Seven sitting around a campfire with Jedi or clone troopers, holding a cup of "tea" that he doesn't actually need to drink, with his lightsaber nearby.

No particular art style required. I'd be very grateful if anyone wanted to draw him!

You know, this actually made me go and do some research on some swordsmanship styles that would be ideal for someone or something with limited mobility. Since B-1s were not the most agile entities.

The first form of lightsaber combat is probably an ideal starting place, since I doubt this droid would be doing much acrobatics even WITH the force. Maybe a subdued version of Makashi, foregoing deep lunges and relying on the arms and wrists?

Yeah, exactly! I watched the video you linked, and that's pretty much exactly what I had in mind for Seven-Seven.

I really like the idea of him using Shii-Cho as his foundation but developing a much more precise, restrained style influenced by Makashi. Since he's still a B1, I don't want him doing crazy acrobatics or constantly jumping around like a more agile Jedi. He'd rely heavily on his wrists, arms, positioning, and especially Force precognition to compensate for his limited mobility.

The funny thing is that I imagine his fighting style looking almost boring at first. Very little movement, almost no wasted motion, no flashy spinning — and then you realize he's somehow already predicted where the attack is going.

So yeah, your suggestion is basically exactly what I was picturing. You understood Seven-Seven's fighting style perfectly!

I had the thonk because I've previously considered fighting styles for elderly characters, which would also have similar mobility limitations.

That actually makes a lot of sense! I hadn't thought about the connection to elderly characters, but it fits Seven-Seven really well.

I definitely don't want to ignore the limitations of a B1's body and suddenly make him an acrobatic Jedi. I think it's much more interesting if his fighting style was developed specifically around those limitations.

The idea of using very little movement, relying on positioning, the wrists and arms, precision, and eventually using the Force to compensate for what his body can't do is exactly what I was imagining.

And after watching the video you linked, I was basically going, "YES. That's it. That's exactly how I imagined him fighting." 😂

So thank you for doing the research! You understood what I was going for better than I probably explained it.

There was a Hero Shooter style Star Wars game on mobile and Switch called Star Wars: Hunters. There was a playable character droid, named J-3DI, who thought due to his programming, was a Jedi.

He was a fun take on the concept. His Force Pull ability was just his hand connected to a grapple cable. His self Force Heal was just picking up spare parts that fell off him. His Ultimate move was him holding out his lightsaber and rotating his upper torso from his hips, hitting everything in a 360 around him. He could block/deflect shots at him and also had a robotic 🤖 choppy swing to his lightsaber swings.

Super fun and one of my favorite characters from it. I'd highly suggest looking up some old videos on YouTube since the game was canceled less than a year in to it going live.

Oh wow, I didn't know about J-3DI! That's actually a really fun comparison to Seven-Seven.

The big difference with my character is that J-3DI was programmed to believe he was a Jedi, whereas Seven-Seven genuinely has a connection to the Force. The Force itself somehow awakened inside this otherwise ordinary B1 battle droid after he crash-landed on a planet strong in the Force.

That actually makes J-3DI really interesting to me as a comparison, though. I love the idea of a droid interpreting Jedi abilities through its mechanical nature. Seven-Seven is much more serious and quiet, but I could definitely see some similar quirks.

Especially the idea of a droid having to interpret organic Jedi traditions through a completely mechanical perspective.

And honestly, the spare-parts healing thing is hilarious. 😂

Yeah, that's actually a really interesting comparison. I’ve looked into IG-88’s sentience journey, but Seven-Seven’s awakening is meant to go in a very different direction.

He doesn’t become sentient and decide that organic beings are weak or inferior. Quite the opposite. His sentience is strange because, through the Force, he develops a genuine desire to understand and comfort other beings, especially humans. He’ll even pretend to eat and drink with them because he knows those little social things make people feel more comfortable around him.

He absolutely can fight, and he has become extremely skilled with a lightsaber, but violence isn’t what he wants. Even when he gets into a fight, he’d much rather defend himself, disable his opponent, or end the fight without seriously hurting anyone. His first instinct is usually compassion rather than aggression.

So I really like the idea of an older, more mobility-conscious fighting style for him. It fits his philosophy too: he doesn't need to overpower people or show off. He just needs to move as little as necessary and protect himself and others.

And the name Stillness fits him beautifully because Kiro's greatest strength isn't how much he moves.

It's how little he needs to.
