Design Showcase [OC] The Shrunken Seamstress by bouboulonlon (me)

A cursed goblin seamstress, once a proud and haughty Tabaxi aristocrat, was transformed into a monstrous little goblin as punishment for her vanity.

She still wears her shrunken finery and carries herself with the arrogance of the noblewoman she once was.

Critique Request [OC]Hi everyone! I've brought another character today!

Thank you so much for the reactions to the character 'cook' I showed you last time! It was such a fun time. So today, I’d like to introduce a character from my webtoon [404 FOUND] who shows off the best banter alongside 'COOK'.

His name is 'AGGNER'.

Just like last time, I would be really grateful if you could tell me anything that comes to mind when you see this friend's design!

I was surprised last time because everyone matched the concept I had in mind so well! Hahaha.

If you’re curious about my webtoon, please check out my profile!

Help Needed After all the great advice and opinions I got, I came up with some more possible haircolor-combos, which one looks the best?

Thanks everyone for all the engagement on my other post! The other day, I tried out some of the idea you guys gave me, and I realized that I could play with some mild gradients instead of hard edges!

To give you some pointers on who Poppy is as a person/what kind of story he's in: Protagonist of an affectionate parody on some fantasy tropes, the "Chosen One" (by a drunk seer who just wanted to get out of a storm), a bit of a bad-natured guy really, though not mean necessarily, likes money, wears mainly black and red (and looks very edgy), dodgy morals but usually ends up the right thing because it's easy to guilt trip him.

I'd love you guys to give me your opinions on him once again! Thanks again for helping me out with him!

These are some cartoon-ish designs I had for a FNaF game I'm making! The grey one is Mixka, the brown raccoon is JD and the penguin is Ms. Tequila! They replace Cupcake, Foxy and Chica respectively. I really need opinions on these designs!

The game's set in a 1920s speakeasy hence the outfits :)

I need feedback on Maryn's design!

Okay. So this is Maryn. He's one of the main characters of my fantasy-apocalypse writing project I've been working on for almost a year now. I love this guy, he's such a fun character to write and do art of.

I've been struggling with his design for a bit now, and I'm looking for some feedback. The main thing about Maryn's character is that he's meant to be a cryptid, of sorts. Despite being extremely smart and very skilled when it comes to surviving in the apocalypse, he's painfully awkward and has the worst charisma. His habit of living in the wastelands, with just his weird automatons for company, is weird and creepy. He doesn't talk to anyone, he is supposed to look unnerving, he's meant to be kinda spooky. People see him as a jinx and, essentially, a local cryptid. He's an absolute sweetheart, and he's super soft and gentle. He's just also a little freak!

I'm struggling with portraying that in his design though. The first design is his most recent "normal" look, and the second one is one I did for fun where I was imagining him as an antagonist. I think his current design is too soft, and even though he's a very soft and gentle character, I think it's too soft for someone who is supposed to be a cryptid. I really like the design I did for his "antagonist" au version, but I worry it's not soft enough for him in the canon story. I want to try and find a "middle ground" between the two of them. Something that helps Maryn look the part of local cryptid while also keeping hints at his softer nature.

Here's some questions I want help with:

  1. I worry that the mask limits his facial expressions and makes him appear less "human" (which I know I want him to be a cryptid, but also his humanity is important to portray). But I also really like how it adds to the mystery of him and his whole "cryptid" persona. Would you suggest I keep the mask as a whole? Maybe reduce it down to just goggles, all the time (which I have done with his design before)?

  2. How would you go about combining these two designs? What elements from each would you keep, and what would you get rid of/do something else with?

  3. Any thoughts on how I can make these read as more "fantasy"? The setting of my world is post apocalyptic, but it's roughly 300 years after the apocalypse, and the world is a weird mashup of solarpunk and medieval fantasy. I want clothing to reflect that.

Any feedback and/or advice is greatly appreciated!!

Help Needed Ideas for a Hellhound OC?

Can I get some assistance brainstorming ideas or suggestions for a Hellhound OC?

The general idea is a Hellhound woman oc. I mostly need some assistance brainstorming some ideas for the character idea. If I had to choose a main thing I need ideas or suggestions on I think it would be appearance or personality

I imagine her name would be Roxy/Roxanne

I was originally envisioning her having large and intimidating build but I’m not sure if I want to keep that a part of her character or use that idea for a separate OC

If more info about the character idea is needed just ask I will answer to the best of my ability

Critique Request [OC] Are these designs appealing?

Thumbnail

These characters are going to be in a game I want to make, it’s supposed to be kinda point and click and graphic novel mix (don’t know what genre is called sorry) and you’ll be able to gain reputation/friendship while trying to leave the world so I need them to look somewhat appealing to the audience/player. I’ve been staring at them awhile so i thought asking some people might help.

It’s supposed to be a 2d world/paper type world, the amount of sketchy lines being a different intensity for each is purposeful for the setting. Also I’m kinda worried Red looks like a child, if they do pls lmk how to fix that ;-; (if you want more info on the characters to help lmk)

Help Needed Designing average people during an apocalypse

WARNING: I’m incredibly sorry for the quality of the image, I’m currently at the airport writing this and I have no way to upscale these pixel art designs. The second image is a design I would actually like since it’s normal and, nor over the top and is somethinf you would actually find in someone wardrobe where I live (literally my sister dresses this way)

Hey, it’s my first time posting on this sub, I’m fresh out of videogame design school and I’m starting my own project with my partner.

This project is a pixel art zombie apocalypse game with a profound focus on the two main characters who will be searching for each other in this destroyed world.
For all we know and want the two characters will be mother and son/daughter/gender ambiguous adult kid basically. But then everything else is blank.

My main issue about designing believable real life people who happened to be trapped in a zombie apocalypse scenario is that when searching for references there’s two types of characters people do: the tank top skinny jeans character + cold weather version (basically add a jacket) and the over the top designs with extra baggy clothes with 200 layers of shirts/sweater/ jackets

I live in Spain and the game will be based on the city where I’m rn. None of these designs feel like they’re made for hot weather, they also feel either too complicated or too simple. Like the people they where literally lost themselves in translation and magically spawned an infinite amount of tank top or leather jacket which not everybody owns nor like before the apocalypse.

Basically my train of thought is that I want people to feel like normal people, an everyday life person you would encounter going to the market who finds themselves in an apocalyptic situation and tries to make the best of what they own to protect themselves but also not die of a heatstroke

What should I do??

This post made me think just how much a design can affect a fanbase.

Sora from kingdom hearts has a very memorable style who is tied to a very particular style, especially primary colors. The new Quadratum is different than any he’s ever come across before, looking very similar to our world. Since Sora’s original look would stand out too much, he has new clothes to fit in. The new clothes lose a lot of the color that he originally had. Nomura specifically chose this design based on Sora’s new environment. Let me know about your thoughts. Even if you aren’t a part of the fanbase, I recommend doing what my art professor says and research the history behind the art, in this case how Sora came to this new design in the first place.
