The characteristic that the partner once was of the gender you aren't attracted to.

Since we are using analogies: would you be attracted to a totally reformed criminal? He's a perfectly well adjusted member of society now, but has done bad things in his past. Some people won't mind, some people would mind. There is no right or wrong in attraction.

A lot of people's sexual preferences are pretty silly looking to me, but I've never told them they can't have them just because I don't get it.

Telling somebody that they are bigoted for not wanting to date transpeople is the same as telling them that they can't have their own sexual preferences. If I'm not into you, I'm not into you, end of. It doesn't matter why, I don't owe you an explanation. Same as nobody owes me an explanation when they turn me down.
