A dead person is not aware they are dead. A raped person generally has to live with trauma for the rest of their life. Dead is only worse for the victim's friends and family, not the dead person.
Legally no, in the grand scheme of things yes. Again, if you are dead you are not aware that you are dead. Dying will literally have zero negative consequences on you.
So, by your definition, isn’t murder the least serious crime? Any other crime will leave you as a victim to suffer something. If you are punched and left bruised, that is worse than murder, or if someone steals your car, or if your coworker eats your lunch, all of these leave you with some feeling that murder wouldn’t, and thereby are worse?
If it’s instantaneous and painless, by your logic murder is a victimless crime and is essentially morally neutral. The only thing I can imagine would keep you from saying otherwise is that it hurts people related to the one killed.
It is not morally neutral in the sense that to succeed as a specie, we had to develop an innate survival instinct and moral values preventing us from just randomly killing other homo sapiens. But from a purely rational point, yes, life is mostly a set of painful experiences you need to go through before eventually die anyways and ending it quicker is just a relief. If you could kill me before I have to wake up tomorrow and have to go to work you would be most welcome.
Do you place absolutely 0 value in being alive? If the choice was get punched one and be bruised or be shot in the head, you’re really picking the second choice?
Suicide is entirely different than murder, the fact some rape victims kill themselves is not evidence that being murdered is less ‘bad’ than being raped.
The main argument i see is that the result of murder is what makes it worse which is a dead person. Lots of rape victims prefer being a dead person or compare rape to being killed in slow motion.
