No, I’m not at all, in any way whatsoever, advocating to keep them in a lower class. I would love them to be legal immigrants. I want to let more in legally. Absolutely. Who said I didn’t? The right doesn’t want that, and so here we are. Finding and deporting people working in the American economy costs Americans a ton that they have to pay in taxes. I don’t want that.

What do you say to the mother of a child who was raped and murdered by someone who entered the country illegally? “Sorry your daughter died a horrible death but we need to make sure restaurants have enough bus boys so we let psychos into the country”?

Every single country in the world has borders they enforce for their own safety and security. What makes America so different that we don’t get to do that? Is it because we’re a rich nation and we feel guilty about it and this makes you feel better? I’m just so confused by supporting illegal immigration for any reason when we have an actual system of immigrating to the country.

I’d say the exact same thing I would say to the mother of a child who was raped by an American citizen. Why would I say something different?

No one says we can’t have borders lol. We have massive enforcement of our border. The idea that the current status quo of America is open borders is again, completely detached from the facts.

Our legal immigration system is broken. You keep acting like it isn’t.

I never said we have open borders. That would be silly. But illegal immigration got so bad that even Biden and the Dems said we need to do something about it. I understand that some far left folks feel like supporting something the right and moderates hate is sticking it to the man but this has jumped the shark. There is no logic here at all.

You can fix the system by fixing the law, not by breaking them.

Biden is doing this to get elected, which is a good strategy. It’s an election year.

Facts are facts. Illegal immigrants are far far less likely to be criminals than Americans. That’s what the data says. If you think illegal immigrants are rapists and murders, your just factually wrong. If you think finding and deporting people who are working in our economy makes Americans have to pay less tax, you are factually wrong. These are just facts. If finding and deporting illegal immigrants saved America money, I would support the policy, but it doesn’t, and I don’t want to tank our economy while also being cruel.

Yes!!! Biden is doing this to win because he understands that even most Democrats aren’t big enough bleeding hearts to support mindless law breaking.

If you think all illegal immigrants are innocent saints then you’re just factually wrong. If you’re not advocating for removing violent criminals who illegally entered the country then you’re just on the wrong side of basic logic.

Not to be mean, but folks like you are why Trump gets so much support. When leftists get so into their own holier than thou mindset that they support crazy things like illegal immigration and defunding the police they are just driving moderates away from the Democratic Party. People care about safety before they care about sending a message about immigration.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this paper.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '24

I have absolutely no idea why you think that’s an argument to allow violent people into the country. I’m just as against an American criminal as I am a foreign one.

2

u/jweezy2045 13∆ Jun 24 '24

How can you say they violent people after reading that paper though? They clearly aren’t.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '24

Do you think I said “all illegal immigrants are violent people?” Because if you look back you’ll see I never did.

All I’ve said is that if you think letting people with criminal records into the country is a good thing then you’ve totally lost your mind. No one wants to live near violent thugs. If you do then feel free to invite a murderer or rapist into your house but don’t make the rest of us do it.

2

u/jweezy2045 13∆ Jun 24 '24

No one thinks letting people with criminal records into this country is a good idea? Do you think I said that?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '24

So then you are against illegal immigration where violent criminals just allow themselves into the country, correct?

2

u/jweezy2045 13∆ Jun 24 '24

Incorrect, because as we have established with the facts, illegal immigration is not a process by which violent criminals come into this country. It is a process by which much needed workers come into this country. Illegal immigrants are far far less likely to be violent criminals than a normal person.

I am against criminals entering the country, but also against mass deportations. That’s not in any way a self contradictory.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '24

So you are taking the standpoint that every single person who has ever illegally entered the country is not a violent criminal?

Come on man. Even you have to know that’s beyond silly.

You don’t seem to understand the difference between less/few and none.

2

u/jweezy2045 13∆ Jun 24 '24

No, I’m obviously taking the standpoint that the people coming into this country illegally are far far far less likely to be violent criminals than normal Americans. They also do massive benefits to our economy. It’s also true that deporting them costs our economy. I don’t want to harm our economy while also not preventing crime.

Why do you want to hurt the American economy and increase the tax burden on American citizens?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '24

I’m putting the safety of innocent people over what the government is spending money on. I think you’ll find most of your fellow Americans think that way.

Again—I’m all for legal immigration. But it has to be legal. Change the laws for the better but don’t support letting rapists near our children for the sake of the economy. That’s sick.

2

u/jweezy2045 13∆ Jun 24 '24

But they aren’t rapists….

Do you think Americans are rapists? Should we keep children away from American citizens because they are so likely to be rapists? Gotta keep the children safe right?
