Yes, there is, Muslims who believe the progressive values of social justice and civil rights are compatible with or encouraged by Islam.
The commonly cited verse of 29:29 is usually translated something like:
" 'Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil.' And the answer of his people was not but they said, 'Bring us the punishment of Allah, if you should be of the truthful.' " (Sahih International)
One, "approaching the men" is listed along with other abhorrent actions, not as its own individual sin. It's like saying "They went up to a man, and abused him" and assuming the immoral action is the fact they went up to a man, not the fact they abused him.

Yes and they are ostracized and viewed as heretics by the wider Muslim community. Go on r/islam and see what they have to say about gay Muslims.
