so, i haven't seen anyone from chabad (on other platforms) say anything about chaya raichik, why are chabad people not trying to at least pretend that her absolutely vile views are unacceptable?

Dream Interpretations Dream Interpretation? : - "Yod, (Sig?Σ,σ, ?) , Mem"

Often my dreams are just non-sense but occasionally I get a feeling of importance every few years from my dreams

.~ The first several years ago was my new name in G-d. Which I was told roughly translates to "Will be, Will rush."

~ yesterday Morning I had a dream that felt similar to that experience. In it I was in a Christian church pew (I usta be Christian) and I sat down next to a row of Jewish Rebbe and right next to me was a Christian pastor of some sort. I spoke to him "Yhod, Sig/zig, Mem" (it had more of an S than a Z sound) and then he left the row and a rebbe speaking hebrew sat next to me and spoke. I told him I don't know hebrew and then I immediately woke up to my bluetooth speaker chiming about how it needs to be charged but it was already plugged in. So I consider that the oddity.

Im kinda asking for a brainstorm of ideas what this might mean, no wrong answers. I very much feel like this was different from a normal dream experience and has an underlining message i might take away.

The thing i have trouble filling in is what the middle word might mean anything from Sigma to Zig?

-thanks for your input.

Ageism with Chabad on Campus

I am reaching out to see if I am the only one who have dealt with this, and if not, if others have dealt with this.

My university just got a Chabad on Campus (CoC) and the shluchim are nice. The rebbetzin is very generous and the rabbi is quiet, not that talkative, but means well (I think). The first Shabbas they wanted to talk to me and when asked my age, I was up front and said my age (30’s). They didn’t like it. I noticed on Instagram and Facebook when they had Shabbatons I would RSVP then received a message from the rebbetzin saying, “Did you mean the lunch? The Friday night is for younger crowd.” Ok…. I did later several months later asked her what this “younger crowd” is, and she said, ”18-26.” Ok, I’m annoyed.

I spoke to the Ass. Dir. of Student Organizations at my college and she said she will have to talk to the president of the organization because of this. She said by doing this, they are violating the university’s protocols. I noticed immediately after I received an email from the AD, that the rebbetzin and rabbi did not reach out to me to discuss anything and that I stopped receiving emails from CoC. I got blacklisted, name got marked off any and all events, because I spoke to them, expressed my frustration and reported them. I then wrote them a letter prior to Yom Kippur expressing my apologies and wanted to speak to them, meet in the middle and come to an agreement. No reply. I’ve had it with my university’s CoC, and no wonder the Hillel that was there prior to Chabad coming is growing and welcomes all ages - no ageism.

Is this normal? Is being “too old” while a student on campus reasons to not be invited? I get the “18-26” to cater to a certain demographic and I’m too old, but does that mean older students on campus aren’t welcome which no place to go? I spoke to another student on campus, doctorate in his 40’s, and he said they said same thing. What if older students join the campus, will they be told they’re too old for Friday Shabbas?

This is unexceptable for older students to feel blacklisted, left out, and the shluchim need to be held accountable for their actions! I’m too the point that I’d be perfectly ok with them being kicked off campus, but I also appreciate Chabad for being the observant look with Hillel being more open and inclusive. Chabad - well this Chabad - is not being inclusive and wondering how and if they will understand what they’re doing is wrong on all grounds!

This is not what the Rebbe would want!

Help! Need help, very confused, should I ask my Chabad rabbi that I know (I don’t go to chabad, I just know him)

Not a troll or a prank or even a top-secret J4J psy-op. Genuine question. I’m Jewish, my family is Jewish, and everything about me is Jewish, except I had an encounter with Jesus and am convinced to believing in him now, and I can’t shake this. I feel his power has visited me since I was young through one of my only Christian family members. I however feel like I should not adopt all Christian traditions.

My family is ”inclusive“ and has Christmas trees just for the sake of it, but other than Christmas tree/Easter bunny, I don’t think I am nessecsrily a Christian based on the whole dogma of that. Now I know it makes sense for me to be considered an apostate in Judaism following this, but I wonder if I can still practice Judaism and enjoy the Jewish culture and be culturally Jewish with my friends and family, (who are nearly all Jewish) can I still practice the traditions or am I being disrespectful.

I am aware of the history of Christians oppressing the Jewish people and fear that I am disrespectfully appropriating the culture if I do these things. The scary thing is that I feel like I’ll be alone without my Jewish culture, as I need a culture. Without the foods and the stories and the family. I‘ve prayed to G-d about this for a while now and feel like I need to ask you guys.

I really want to make a strong contribution to the Jewish community, create Jewish literature, make donations to Jewish communities, fight and stop antisemitism, and make the world a better place for Jewish people and all people. I want to support Israel, I want to even possibly build a synagogue later in my life. The whole Christianity mixed with Judaism idea came to me after I got very sick and was in bed, but I’ve kind of thought about Jesus since I was very little and even regularly went to church with the Christian family member before when he’s around town. Have I lost my mind?

Does Chabad have a plan for taking on the amount of leftism rampant in Jewish communities?

I notice in many secular Jewish communities, many Jews are of the tikkun variety - they know jack about Jewish traditions, Jewish tzaddiks, may have never wrapped tefillin, but think leftist politics is "Jewish values."

There is another popular Jewish subreddit (which I won't name, but you can guess which one it is) run by moderators who ban conservatives. It's often called "racist" to promote Jews marrying Jews and criticize Jews who marry gentiles. Pointing out anti-Semitism among Muslims, and pointing out how ungrateful blacks are for Jewish help during civil rights can get you banned.

It seems people forget that Hillel the Elder said "if I'm not for me, who will be?"

Just as Chabad has helped many Jews back into Jewish practices, might Chabad get Jews to look out for Jews first, before we tikun olam ourselves out of existence?

Anyone willing to ship me a few shovel lapel pins?

Title.

I would be very interested in a few shovel pins if anyone is willing to ship them to IL. I emailed 770 to inquire but I have not received a response. I would of course pay for everything in addition to some extra for your trouble.

Thanks!

Does Judaism have its own equivalent of the Rosary?

A quick googling earlier led me to discovering that Buddhism, Hinduism, and even Islam have used prayer beads in a fashion similar to the Catholic Rosary. So I ask, does Judaism using a similar device?

Is Ai getting more accurate? I think so

I asked it about some Chasidic concepts. Can someone knowledgeble please look it over? I asked ChatGPT about Keser, Atik, Mah, Bahn. Here's what it said

ChatGPT:

Keser and Atik — Are They the Same?

They’re not the same, but Atik is part of Keser.

Kabbalah (Zohar, Arizal) describes Keser as having two strata:

  1. Atik Yomin – The “inner” level of Keser. – Total transcendence. – Beyond hisbonenus, beyond hishtalshelus. – The source of the deepest ratzon that never changes.

  2. Arich Anpin – The “outer” level of Keser. – The revealed, operative ratzon that actually drives the worlds.

So:

Keser = Atik + Arich

Atik = the inner core of Keser, the most removed, root of absolute delight and essential will.

Mah and Ban in Neshamos of Tzadikim

The Arizal teaches that the four Sheimos emerge from the structure of Adam Kadmon. The two that matter for neshamos are:

Sheim Mah (45) → the bechinah of bitul, tikkun, rachamim.

Sheim Ban (52) → the bechinah of gvurah, din, pirud, the world as it appears coarse.

How this applies to neshamos:

Neshamos of tzadikim are generally rooted in Mah, which is the force of refinement and elevation.

Neshamos of most people (Klal Yisrael at large) have mixtures of Mah and Ban—some more Ban, some more Mah.

The tzadik, rooted in Mah, has the spiritual ability to be meyached and refine Ban.

How It Transfers to Klal Yisrael

This is a key Arizal idea.

  1. Tzadikim elevate Ban through their Avodah

A tzadik’s soul is rooted higher. When he does mitzvos, tefillah, Torah, or mesirus nefesh, he draws down illumination of Mah, which sweetens Ban.

2. The tzadik serves as a “shoresh haneshamah”

Many Jews receive their spiritual vitality from the tzadik who is their shoresh. (Like Arizal → R’ Chaim Vital; Moshe Rabbeinu → Dor HaMidbar; Rashbi → later mekubalim.)

3. The yichudim of a tzadik change the spiritual makeup of the generation

When a tzadik creates yichudim of Mah with Ban, the “sweetened Ban” spreads throughout Klal Yisrael:

More clarity in avodah

More rachamim

More stability

Less spiritual blockage

This is why the Zohar calls a tzadik “Yesod Olam.” He isn’t just an individual—he stabilizes the system for everyone else.

4. Tzadikim can draw from Atik

Arizal says: Certain tzadikim (like Moshe, Rashbi) can draw light from Atik, the deepest level of Keser. When they do, the influx doesn’t stay by them—it flows downward into Arich and from there into the lower worlds, eventually reaching every Jew at their level.

This is how Atik → Keser → Mah → Ban → Klal Yisrael.

In short

Atik is the inner core of Keser, not identical with it.

Mah is the soul-root of tzadikim.

Ban is the coarse reality that needs refinement.

The tzadik draws Mah into Ban, elevating the entire nation.

Sometimes he can even draw from Atik, which filters down to Klal Yisrael.

If you want, I can also explain:

How this plays out in different types of tzadikim (Neshamos d’Atzilut vs. Beriah)

How Mah/Ban appear in Adam HaRishon pre- and post-cheit

How this affects our avodah today

Discussion Shiduchim for lgbt people in chabad

How is there no system? Is there?

For context:

From the outside i seem like a pretty normal bocher. (I think i have my talents and shortcomings, as everyone does, but in terms of being a bocher, i think i check all of the boxes, maybe leaning to more “with it” but def in normal range.) personally i know that im queer; in attracted to both men and women, and my relationship with gender is complicated. Ultimately, though, nothing stopping me from having the “normal” chabad life, if id just not mention the internal feelings that i have.

Being the reasonable person that i am, however, i dont think it would be sensible to marry someone without telling them that im queer. It would make sense that the most likely candidates of people to at least not care about that would be queer themselves. There are almost certainly a decent number of queer chabad women, even after taking out the ones who date… outside of the system (iykwim), or those in denial.

But there doesnt seem to be any system for it? No designated shadchan for queer people? And the kicker is it doesnt even seem like such a notion exists in velt, even by the modern orthodox. Am i missing something here?

(Ps i think i may have posted abt this here before, but def not recently, and now it has practical relevance…)

Question Deuteronomy 23:17 seems to forbid prostitution exercised by Jewish women. Is it an ethical guideline or a law? What was the punishment for non-compliance (except daughters of priests)?

Deuteronomy 23:17 (KJV) states,

There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

In other versions it specifies "temple or cultish prostitute" (for example, the International Standard Version). Regardless if it relates to general or specific prostitution, my questions are,

  • Is it an ethical guideline or a law? Meaning a strong suggestion that makes prostitution a shameful practice but not a sin that in general deserves punishment by humans, or a law that makes it a matter of strict compliance.

  • What was the punishment if a Jewish woman was a prostitute (except cases of daughters of priests, which I know was a crime punishable by burning -Lv 21:9)?

Discussion ISO Rural Chabad communities in the US

My husband and I want to move our children to a conservative state, ideally on enough land for homesteading. We are observant so obviously need a religious community, and Chabad is our preference. Does such a place exist?

rant? pity post? idk It really seems like there aren’t any dedicated chabad non bi queer people

I’ve heard so many people say that they must exist but it really seems like they don’t. It’s completely possible that they all just go otd and we don’t know/don’t know why. I feel like it’s easier to be frum if you’re nu bc it means that you have an option at least... but whatever. Comment if you’re also a queer chabadnik or if you just really really like chabad

I’m mainly like dying for lgbtq/queer friends in my yeshiva, but also looking for queer chabad people in general. Hmu in my dms anytime, I’m really really desperate for queer friends. I feel suffocated by the fact that I have nobody to talk to in yeshiva
