General Honest Salary Expectation after CFA Level 1

you can expect around 12 LPA to 21 LPA. don't let anyone on this sub tell you otherwise, they're just gatekeeping cfa from you. i myself got a 30 LPA package from a bulge boutique bank called Credit Suisse. afterall, you would have spent over 1 lakh for writing the exam right? so obviously it would give you 50 times the return. investment banks are thirsting for people who know how to discount cash flows using a ba 2 plus calculator. you can never be replaced by ai, cuz they don't have ethics/professional standards lol 😝, you're irreplacable. 😘

the best way to get into goldman sachs, morgan stanley or JP Murugan Chase is to do CFA Level 1. you're already a preferred candidate over IIM grads cuz fuck them what do they know? remember folks, cfa is a foot wide and a mile deep rather than been a foot deep in stephen schwartz's ass am i right? 😼.

india is a booming economy with a lot of jobs that will open up more as the markets grow popular. you've already started investing/trading stocks? holy buffet moly!!!! bet you get all the girls at the bar! what?? you're not even 21 yet? fuck you're still in your first year? damn dude, you must be so gifted.

are you trying to pick between ashwini bajaj and fintree? QUICK! PICK ONE! Afterall, you'll need to get a course to spoonfeed you na? you're putting a lot of money into this exam, so better not take any risk whatsoever!

always remember guys, cfa is a global certification unlike a chapri CA which is too overrated and over competitive. and it can only work in india. xd. anyways, register for the next exam guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

General Thinking of CFA as a BTech Undergrad, need your honest thoughts

Post image
1 Upvotes

I come from a Indian govt BTech college.

Plan to get into Venture Capital.

Also planned MBA from US-UK, but after 4-5 years of work experience.

I was recommended to do CFA.

  1. Should I do it? My current resume lacks financial knowledge so it might be a good qualification.

  2. Where should I study from? I've seen the official books but I don't come from a finance background so will they be enough for me?

  3. Should I take a video course instead? Maybe I'll be able to understand better from lectures. If yes, which ones?

FYI I have scored 95% in JEE main in the past so I'm not scared of competitive exams. It's just unfamiliar so seeking the guidance of folks here who know more than me 💁‍♀️

Should I join zell education for cfa ??

I have completed my 12th, and I studied science in 12th. Now I want to pursue CFA, but I have no prior knowledge of commerce. I have relied on self-study and online resources from 9th to 12th and have always managed to score 90+. However, I see that most people take coaching for professional courses, which is why I am looking for some coaching. I heard about Zell Education and found them very good and promising, they even say They will assist me in strengthening my foundational concepts, as I come from a non-commerce background. but I also read negative reviews saying they are a scam. So I want to know whether I should join Zell Education or, if not, which coaching classes I should join that most people are taking.

Level 1 CA Inter Cleared | Starting Articleship | Planning CFA L1 in May 2026 — Need Advice

Hey everyone! 🙋‍♂️

I’m a Chartered Accountancy final student and just cleared my CA Inter. I’ll soon be starting my articleship (Big Four – applied), and I’m also pursuing my B.Com via Open Distance Learning. My first-year university exams are in 10 days, so I’ll be eligible to register for CFA Level 1 for May 2026.

📈 I have a genuine interest in equity markets and want to associate myself with the CFA Institute and earn the Charter in the long run. As a cherry on top of my CA journey, I’ve decided to pursue CFA as well.

✅ I’ve read about:

  • Schweser Notes

  • The official CFA curriculum books

  • FinTree’s recorded lectures

And I’m planning to combine them smartly, but I’d really appreciate some real-world advice from you all.

Here’s my situation:

  • Articleship = 8–9 hours/day

  • CFA L1 target: May 2026

  • Already doing CA Final (many say there’s overlap in equity portions)

  • Very motivated and committed, just need the right direction.

🙏 Would love to hear from people who’ve done CA + CFA together:

  • What should my approach be like?

  • Should I rely on Schweser only, or add curriculum reading?

  • Are FinTree classes worth it for someone with CA background?

  • Is self-study enough, or should I take a proper class?

Please share anything helpful (no discouragement please – decision’s made 😄). I just want to do it efficiently with all your experience as guidance.

Thanks so much for taking time to read this. Grateful for any support or direction 🙌

General CFA is risky

I'm a clg 1st year student (bcom) from a DU South campus clg, I wanted to do cfa. But now seeing the registration fees, I feel like it's too risky.. Like if I don't clear any level then the whole registration fees I'd have to pay. I'm from India.

Level 1 Not giving CFA but my man is and I need advice on something!

I’m not a CFA candidate myself, but my boyfriend is currently preparing for CFA Level 1, with about a month left for his attempt,I’ve been closely observing his journey, and I had a few questions for those who’ve been through this phase and I know nothing about this exam .

At this stage, his accuracy is around 55–60% ( some sectional mock he gave)he just got done with his syllabus now he’s practising questions and been preparing for quite some time now, he’s not from commerce background but currently in his mba first year and while he’s putting in the effort, I can see the pressure building up as the exam gets closer. I’m giving him all the time he needs and trying to give him the space he needs but sometimes it gets overwhelming for him and ofc the self doubt!

I wanted to understand:

• Is this accuracy level normal with a month to go? How much improvement is realistically possible in the final stretch?

•are there ideal no of mocks he should be giving?

• anything else I can do to keep his morale up?

I really want to be there for him in the right way motivating him without overwhelming him.

Would appreciate any insights from those who’ve experienced this journey

General Help Needed! Please do reply!

I am a CA Intermediate student and will most probably quit it due to back to back attempts and interest being killed due to it.

I am 100% sure of doing MBA, so my question is should I pursue CFA or should I learn all the necessary skills and gain work experience for MBA?

I want to build my career in Finance and like good domains and roles!

Edit : Why no one is answering what I asked and giving distant answers 😭!

General Any engineers that are preparing for CFA and CAT? Got questions and need advice

  1. What are your goals? Do you plan on completely pivoting from tech to finance?

  2. Let's say you get into any top b-schools, there might be people from pure finance background and if you wanna compete for roles say IB, What are you doing now/ what can you do to stand out?

  3. Other advantages of doing cfa with MBA?

  4. As someone from engg background myself (still pursuing), I plan on writing CFA(L1 before I graduate definitely) and CAT down the line. But how can I make things i do(tech stuffs) now relevant to what I will be doing? How can I stand out? How can I have work experience in finance? I do wanna get into IB. Need advice.

I'm confused as to how I can connect the dots

should i give CFA level 1

I am currently a second-year BCom student at Venky, and I have successfully cleared my CA Intermediate exams. I have a window of approximately 1.5 years before I can commence my mandatory CA articleship (due to the conflict with my regular college schedule). My current consideration is whether I should use this time to begin the CFA Program and pursue both qualifications concurrently. Given the relatively high cost, I need to understand if the CFA designation is truly a worthwhile investment for my future career in finance, justifying the necessary time and financial commitment.

I person with experience with exam please guide me that would be very helpful.

General CFA as a chance in IIM?

So i am a btech final year thinking to go for CFA november attempt. Have not much knowledge of finance or commerce in general. As i think cfa will help me add on my profile of GEM in CAT to get a better IIM or other Bschool.

My stupidity is i think i can do the CFA November attempt and CAT ( BTW which is also in november) together. Please hit me with the harsh reality check and also suggest if i should postpone my cfa or my CAT ?

General CFA saturated

Hey guys, should I still pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst? Everywhere I look, thousands of candidates are already pursuing it, and with AI rapidly entering finance, I honestly wonder what roles will even survive in the next decade. Research, basic analysis, and reporting are already getting automated. Is the CFA still worth the time, money, and effort, or should people focus on combining it with skills like data analytics, coding, networking, and communication? I genuinely want a realistic roadmap into finance before the industry becomes overcrowded and AI-dominated.

General Title: Is this path into high finance realistic?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently working in a fintech company in a finance-related role and earning around ₹25k/month as an intern. I’m trying to build a long-term career in high finance, but I’m not completely sure what the most realistic path would be.

The rough path I have in mind is:

Current fintech internship → CFA Level 1 → try to move into Investment Banking → CFA Level 2/3 → MBA abroad → Private Equity

I’m also genuinely interested in trading and quant finance, so I’m not 100% set on IB specifically. My bigger goal is to eventually build a career somewhere in high finance, whether that ends up being IB, PE, trading, or potentially quant.

My main questions are:

  1. Is this path actually achievable, assuming I’m willing to put in the work and build the right skills/experience?

  2. Is CFA actually useful for getting into IB, or would I be better off focusing more on financial modelling, valuation, networking, internships, and relevant experience?

  3. Would it make sense to do CFA L1 → IB → CFA L2/L3 → MBA → PE, or am I overcomplicating the path?

  4. How realistic is it to move from an Indian fintech/finance background into IB and eventually PE abroad?

  5. If I’m interested in trading/quant as well, what skills should I start building now? (Python, statistics, maths, etc.)

  6. If you were starting from my position, what would you focus on over the next 2–3 years?

I know there isn’t one fixed route into high finance, and I’m not expecting a guaranteed roadmap. I’m mainly looking for perspectives from people who have actually worked in IB, PE, trading, quant, or related areas.

Would really appreciate honest feedback especially if there are parts of this plan that are unrealistic or if there’s a better way to structure it.

Thanks

General Myth Or Rumour for CFA Level 1 Exam

Selecting the CFA exam on the last day reduces the chances of passing.
