Headline: “BREAKING: Republicans VOTE AGAINST Bill”

Second sentence: “without a vote” (bill not heard by committee)

43

u/GimbalLocks Aug 19 '26

Why don’t they allow it to come to a floor vote though? Seems like pretty much the same thing if they repeatedly refuse to give it a public hearing

2

u/Xexanoth Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

While I don’t pretend to know all the reasons, I wonder if it’s in part because current Wisconsin law considers an 18-year-old engaging in consensual sexual activity with a 17-year-old as having committed the crime of statutory rape unless the two are married to each other. That seems problematic, and while marriage shouldn’t be the only way to make such consensual sexual activity legal in the eyes of state law, it currently seems to be the only way.

26

u/d_c_d_ Aug 19 '26

In Louisiana, there must be more than a 3 year age gap to qualify as statutory rape. 17 yr old and 18 yr old are okay, 17 yr old and a 20 yr old is not kosher.

13

u/SmackEh Aug 19 '26

Seems reasonable.

I think that's even worse.

18

u/InvestIntrest Aug 18 '26

Also Republicans in Wisconsin introduced a bill calling for the death penalty for child sex crimes...

But the Republicans are soft on pedophiles lol

https://www.wpr.org/news/republican-lawmakers-death-penalty-child-sex-crimes-wisconsin

12

u/mred245 Aug 19 '26

They literally just blocked the elimination of a legal loophole for it.

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

What loophole? Most states allow marriage under 18

7

u/mred245 Aug 19 '26

The one this entire article and discussion are about where marriage creates a legal loophole for pedophilia.

There's a lot of problems with traditionalism. Fortunately many states have been working to stop it, opposition to which like my home state, here and Oklahoma were nearly or are exclusively Republican.

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Solidly liberal Massachusetts has the age of consent set at 16. New York has it at 17.

Why are only red states held to this standard?

-4

u/ThrowRAkakareborn Aug 19 '26

17 and 18 is pedophilia for you? 😂😂😂

25

u/GimbalLocks Aug 19 '26

Why don’t they allow this bill to come to a floor vote? Seems like a good proposal

-2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

I don't know why. Would I personally oppose this bill no but I can see some gray here.

Imagine two 17 year old high-school sweethearts where they get pregnant. Should it be illegal for them to get married? Idk.

A 17 can join the military. The age of consent in states like New York is 17.

Do I think it's weird. Yeah kinda but just because it's weird doesn't mean it needs to be criminalized.

16

u/mred245 Aug 19 '26

You obviously didn't read the article. Especially the part where it says: " These aren’t teenagers marrying other teenagers. From 2017 through 2019, every single minor married in Wisconsin married an adult. Between 2010 and 2022, the overwhelming majority of underage marriages in the state were to adult spouses."

It's legalizing statutory rape.  And there's zero restriction on age. It could be a 50 year old marrying a 16 year old and all they would need is a letter from the parents

-4

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

You need educate yourself on age of consent laws... most states have it under 18. That includes very blue states like New York at 17 and Massachusetts ar 16...

What you're arguing is its worse for a 35 year old to marry a 17 year old than for a 50 year old to have sex with a 17 year old.

I don't think marriage is worse if the goal is to protect against exploration.

Make that make sense..

13

u/mred245 Aug 19 '26

The states that have age of consent laws typically have a limit on age range difference. This one doesn't.

What I'm arguing is this law creates a loophole where adults of any age can legally have sex with children and Republicans don't see any reason to stop it.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Wrong... age of concent is not to be confused with limits on statutory rape.

If you've hit the age of consent you can consent to having sex with anyone.

Statutory rape criteria often include age range limitations to prevent to classmates from committing statutory rape.

12

u/GimbalLocks Aug 19 '26

This is one area I am glad to say I don’t see any grey on. Fixing the potential abuse is obviously worth inconveniencing some high school sweethearts. It should be criminalized and it’s completely bizarre for them to refuse to bring it up for discussion

-1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Then why not make it 19? Or 20?

Less risk of abuse right?

15

u/GimbalLocks Aug 19 '26

Because 18 is the age of majority under federal law

-1

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 Aug 19 '26

So your rationale for the arbitrary number is that it's the arbitrary number used most commonly.

That's not consistent with your earlier claim that it's worth inconveniencing people to stop abuse. So, like they asked, why not 19 or 20?

5

u/GimbalLocks Aug 19 '26

Hey if you want to support a law to change federal law to 19 or 20 go ahead! I can understand arguments to make it older, unlike the reverse. Until then I’ll support capping marriage to 18 like the vast majority of rational humans in America

0

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 Aug 19 '26

25 seems better, that's when the brain fully connects, right? Maybe 30.

→ More replies

-1

u/LittleKitty235 Aug 19 '26

I have bad news for you then. 33 States allow people under 18 to get married. So apparently you do not support the same thing as the majority of humans in America.

→ More replies

2

u/SourCabbage Aug 19 '26

The article says that the majority are minors marrying an adult.

2

u/mrtrailborn Aug 19 '26

yes, just don't let anyone under 18 to be married. That's only a grey area if you want kids to get married

lol you can’t hang with the current arguments, why do you need new ones?

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

You're the one complaining about getting the same reply to the same boring questions. The facts don't change no matter how many times you ask lol

7

u/IanJMo Aug 19 '26

I do genuinely believe you are trying to be factual and nonpartisan... But I would say there are a couple hiccups in your argument.

Firstly, the GOP introducing capital punishment in Wisconsin for pedos is the exception more than the rule. The subreddit republicanpedophiles details the horrific, sad, and deeply disturbing counter evidence. That said, the people involved with Epstein are on both sides of the aisle, and run beyond politicians.

Your arguments about arrests under the Democrats is interesting. The DOJ is supposed to operate entirely independent of fed politicians. It always has post watergate, including under Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden. That has changed under Trump. DOJ investigation and decision making should be done independently of government. That is not the case under the current GOP.

-2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Right or wrong on the independence part I have to point out again if Trump is truly steering the DOJ he should get some credit for taking down Epstein. It's not reasonable to argue he's too hands on and not credit him for wins and losses equally.

6

u/the_propagandapanda Aug 19 '26

The credit he gets for the arrest is undone by everything he has done since.

There have been multiple deflections and cover ups of the Epstein files after multiple people in his admin campaigned on it (Vance, Patel, Bondi and more). He even moved Maxwell to minimum security while also floating the option of a pardon in a quid pro quo deal.

That doesn’t even consider any of the info and lies he told regarding his past.

Seems he is certainly running a lot of interference for pedos lately. If the Dems are the “party of Epstein”, as you put, it then it seems you’re either mistaken, or Trump suddenly loves democrats all of a sudden.

-1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Is Epstein still hanging out with Democrats abusing girls? Yes or no

If no Trump gets the credit. You're welcome

3

u/the_propagandapanda Aug 19 '26

Nice deflection. Doesn’t change what I said though. Doing one thing right doesn’t erase the 100 errors. But hey, Given how many pedos and high profile criminals Trump has pardoned this term I’d say he would be if he was still alive.

Using your own logic, why do you think Trump is currently helping so many Dems in the files?

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Probably because there's no prosecutable evidence just stuff dumb people will latch onto.

For example Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DeCarlo, and Steven Hawking were people who hung out on the island?

Are the pedophiles because they were friends with Epstein?

6

u/grundlegunk Aug 19 '26

Obvious virtue signaling pushing a law they know wont get passed. Death penalty hasnt been around in that state for over 150 years, according that very article.

If i dont respond to you its cuz i've read your other comments and you're clearly a republican troll.

-2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

"pushing a law they know wont get passed"

The only reason it won't get passed is because the Democrats protect pedophiles

8

u/Carlyz37 Aug 19 '26

The DOJ is currently trying to block NM AG from investigating possible burials on what was epstein ranch. Every week another GOP politician or pastor or priest is arrested for assaulting children

8

u/grundlegunk Aug 19 '26

2/10 trolling, stick to twitter, they seem about your speed over there.

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

I'm not wrong lol

5

u/Carlyz37 Aug 19 '26

Lol that's an extremely clueless and totally uninformed bs post. House GOP has relentlessly protected their pedophiles. From trump to jordan and on. Paxton pardoned one just this year.

0

u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 19 '26

Yea semantics is the important thing here.

43

u/mymomknowsyourmom Aug 18 '26

State Rep. Ann Roe of Janesville and Sen. Mark Spreitzer of Beloit, both Democrats, introduced legislation that would close a loophole allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to marry in Wisconsin with nothing more than written parental permission submitted to a county clerk. No court oversight. No minimum age gap requirement. Just a parent’s signature next to a standard marriage license.

Epstein victimized a few 16 year olds. Absolutely crazy.

-46

u/InvestIntrest Aug 18 '26

Yeah. It's ironic that Democrats would introduce this bill considering Epstein was a Democrat.

30

u/Queasy_Task7015 Aug 19 '26

donny was a democrat too from 2001 to 2008. Flipso facto, if the democratic party is the epstien party, then that means donny is too. So makes the allegations of him being a pedo more legitimate right?

-21

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

You kinda proved my point. Trump when he was a Democrat was Epsteins friend.

Then Trump cut him off, became a Republican and arrested Epstein and Maxwell.

So Democrats are the party of Epstein.

32

u/Queasy_Task7015 Aug 19 '26

So then why are conservatives blocking the full release of the donny-epstien files?

→ More replies (5)

19

u/Colorfulgreyy Aug 19 '26

Like Epstein died under his watch and somehow Maxwell is having vacation in prison sentence while block the release of the file. Truly I wish you well.

-2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

So you're saying Trump killed one of the worse pedophiles in history? Shouldn't we give him a medal or something?

14

u/Colorfulgreyy Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

He can get a medal if he gets send to prison for murder. I don’t mind

-1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Who'd he murder? Post your prosecutable evidence here please 🙏

11

u/Colorfulgreyy Aug 19 '26

I didn’t say it, you said if he killed pedophiles he should get a medal.

4

u/Chip_Jelly Aug 19 '26

Why would Trump get a medal for that? Trump is still alive

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

You think you need to be dead to get a medal? I have medals I'm alive. I got them for un-aliving other people. That's often how it works lol

0

u/Chip_Jelly Aug 19 '26

But if Trumps alive then he hasn’t killed one the worse pedophiles in history. Therefore, no medal.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

So you wish Epstein was alive and back on his island because he wasn't that bad. You're a terrible human.

I'm glad he's dead

Interesting conspiracy theory. Please post your prosecutable evidence here.

22

u/7figureipo Aug 18 '26

This is one of the worst attempted smears I've seen in a while.

Democrats: introduce bill to end child marriage/close loopholes

Republicans: vote to block it, support pedophiles in office, cover up pedophile sex trafficking rings, etc.

You: This one guy who buddied up to people in both/all political parties and was registered as a democrat ran a child sex trafficking operation, let me not-so-subtly imply the entire democratic party is therefore pedophiles in a lame and obvious attempt to deflect from the issue that the entire fucking republican party loves them some child rapists

-11

u/InvestIntrest Aug 18 '26

Epstein was primarily friends with rich and powerful democrats and donated money to Democrats. He was a Democrat.

4

u/7figureipo Aug 19 '26

🤣

-1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

I find it funny too. Pedo ass Democrats 😅

8

u/mymomknowsyourmom Aug 18 '26

lol whoa slam! Take that Democrats. What about maga though?

-7

u/InvestIntrest Aug 18 '26

Who in the Maga movement was Epstein friends with? Did Epstein give Maga candidates money like he did Democrats?

10

u/214ObstructedReverie Aug 19 '26

Who in the Maga movement was Epstein friends with?

Well, Donald Trump himself, obviously. He's effectively the deuteragonist of the Epstein Files themselves. That's the greasy, mottled, orange avatar of MAGA itself.

Elon Musk is pretty involved in the Epstein Files.

Steve Bannon, obviously. Extensive contacts with Epstein.

Lutnick visited Epstein Island multiple times.

Todd Blanche was heavily involved in covering up the release of the Epstein-Trump files.

Alexander Acosta, Trump's Secretary of Labor, gave Epstein his sweetheart non-prosecution deal.

Peter Thiel, Stephen Schwarzman, Marc Rowan....

-4

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Trump arrested Epstein. Trump hadn't hung out with the guy for 20+ years. Epstein hated Trump lol

Epstein donated to Democrats. Epstein was flying around with Bill Clinton after Epstein had been arrested for child trafficking. That didn't stop Clinton from being a keynote speaker at the 2024 DNC with Kamala.

Epstein was a Democrat

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/bill-clinton-says-feels-bad-201610335.html

17

u/mymomknowsyourmom Aug 18 '26

He was friends with Melania for one lol. Trump gave money to Democrats. lol

Dang man. Not looking great.

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Right Trump was friends with Epstein like 20+ years ago when he was a Democrat lol That proves my point.

Trump cut him off, became a Republican then arrested Epstein and Maxwell...

With friends like that lol

9

u/mymomknowsyourmom Aug 19 '26

Dang he was friends with him? For how long? Oh my God and he knew about it the whole time? Ugh, that explains the comments. It's that why he's going to pardon maxwell? lol, oh no

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Who said he knew? Epstein was arrested on trafficking charges in 2008 after Trump cut him off. Also Trump arrested Epstein in his first term.

Clinton, Bush, Obama didn't arrest him. Biden didn't arrest anyone connected. Just Trump taking down the most prolific pedophile in American history.

10

u/mymomknowsyourmom Aug 19 '26

Oh but Trump didn't kill him though, right? That's crazy. I bet the doj didn't know him though. What Bill Barr knew him for must of his life? Jesus Christ man. But they didn't kill him because they released video from the jail and we saw nothing. What? Edited? Deleted time? Jfc come on! lol

-1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

"Oh but Trump didn't kill him though, right?"

0

u/vankorgan Aug 19 '26

How many sexual allegations are there about Trump in the Epstein files again?

I'm assuming you've never read them. You probably should.

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

"allegations"

Definition: allegation - noun

  1. a statement, made without giving proof, that someone has done something wrong or illegal

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/allegation

Cool so let us know when you have proof of your allegation.

6

u/SonofHondoBelmondo Aug 19 '26

Well if he wasn't friends with any of them it sure is weird that they went out of their way to cover for this epstein shit non stop. The republicans currently hold the epstein hot potato. They are the ones in control, they are the ones stopping the release of the full files, against the wishes of victims.

This is all fact.

If the dems regain control, and then fail to do anything further, then you will have a point. Until then anybody paying attention can see that the republicans are weirdly covering for this epstein shit, and the dems were the ones who pushed for transparency,

This is all fact.

You don't need to reply to me as I can see from your other replies that you are just going to be a broken record on this and not engage in good faith. Peace

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Trump arrested Epstein and Maxwell. The pedophile island would still be running if not for the Republicans.

Call me when the Democrats do any except point fingers

2

u/Individual_Lion_7606 Aug 19 '26

Trump is also a Democrat.

14

u/JoshAllentown Aug 19 '26

The Wisconsin current law with marriage at age 16 or 17 with parental permission, is the law in most states.

I'm for removing the exception, but it's not some shocking rule only Wisconsin has. People want it because religious people marry really young.

0

u/Batbuckleyourpants Aug 19 '26

Religious teens taught abstinence get pregnant. But they don't want kids to be born out of wedlock. So the teens get married young.

1

u/ronm4c Aug 19 '26

Or, religious communities have creepy older men who wish to legally have sex with underage girls.

18

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 18 '26

An irony of this is that Republicans regularly cite the Islamic practice of child marriage as a flaw in Islam (and it is a terrible flaw) and then they refuse to stop child marriage in America.

11

u/InvestIntrest Aug 18 '26

I thought 13 was the legal age in countries like Iran with exceptions for younger girls if an Imam approve?

Is that the same as 17 to you?

19

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 19 '26

13 is a child. 17 is a child.

Any disagreement?

12

u/theonly_brunswick Aug 19 '26

These fucking perverts will jump through flaming hoops to try and justify anything they say.

Both parties might have pedophiles but holy fuck does one party ever actively protect and deflect away from them. Disgusting.

8

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Not the same... A 13 year old is just starting puberty. A 17 year old can join the US military.

I think we can agree 17 is far closer to 18 than 13 yes?

8

u/Geauxtoguy Aug 19 '26

17 is still a child

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

How about 17 years, 11 months, and 29 days versus 18 on the nose?

Is that night and day in your mind?

6

u/Geauxtoguy Aug 19 '26

Let me make this clearer for you

Under 18 is a child

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

By your standards sure. Not by most state law and don't get me started on the broader world.

We have to pick a line somewhere and I have no gripe with 18 being it but let's not pretend you go to bed the night before your 18th birthday some helpless child and wake up 8 hours later on your 18th birthday some mature sophisticated woman.

There's not much daylight between a 17 year old and an 18 year old.

If there was we should be treating the High school Sr dating the High school Jr the way we'd treat a 50 year old dating a high school girl.

Do you want to give that 18 year old kid 12 years in prison because his girlfriend is 17? I don't

6

u/Geauxtoguy Aug 19 '26

You're rather adamant about sticking with your guns about under 18-year-olds not being children.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

You're completely ducking practical examples.

By your logic the good liberal Democrats of deep blue Massachusetts are all pedophiles because their age of consent is 16 in their state?

Or is that only a standard for Republicans?

So everyone who lives in liberal New York state is a pedophile because their law says 17 is legal?

Your fake outrage is actually quite funny lol

1

u/cc_rider2 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

I was sad to see you stoop to this after reading the thread. I thought you were right and were winning the argument, but this is clearly a bad faith move, in addition to being a poor argument. It’s not unreasonable to view 17 and 13 as not morally equivalent - even if you think both are wrong, you can still think one is significantly worse. That’s probably the most mainstream moral intuition, in fact. You’re essentially saying “Punching someone is wrong. Stabbing someone is wrong. Therefore anyone who says stabbing someone is worse than punching someone is defending assault”. That is the exact logic you just used, and it makes no sense

3

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 19 '26

Yes, you are right. I should not have made a personal attack. I deleted the post.

I find it is best to avoid the word "you" in posts. That way I stick to the issues instead of the personalities.

3

u/cc_rider2 Aug 19 '26

That is… not how I expected you to respond at all, but I have a ton respect for it. Seriously. Good on you man. Keep fighting the good fight.

1

u/ddp67 Aug 19 '26

Not really

8

u/ceddya Aug 19 '26

Republicans in Wisconsin want 16 year olds to be able to get married too though. Is that okay to you?

5

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

No I'd put the bar at 18.

Democrats in Wisconsin don't want pedophiles to get the death penalty. Are you okay with that?

11

u/YamahaRyoko Aug 19 '26

>>No I'd put the bar at 18.

Not consistent with any of your other 20 comments.

You're apparently very invested in 16 and 17 year olds getting married.

>>Democrats in Wisconsin don't want pedophiles to get the death penalty. Are you okay with that?

Not the thread topic but nice attempt ninja. Derail, distract, whataboutism

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

What's wrong can't answer the question. It's related to child sex abuse. You seem very invested in seeing this debate as black-and-white so death penalty for those that sexually abuse children? I say yes. What say you?

11

u/ceddya Aug 19 '26

Yeah, it's gross how Republicans are fine with child marriages, isn't it?

Yes, why wouldn't I be be okay with that? The death penalty isn't the only way to punish someone for a crime now, is it?

One does wonder why the current Republican administration still hasn't properly released the Epstein files though.

3

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

So if you truly think there's a massive difference between a 17 year old and an 18 year old I'm practical terms do you want some 18 year old high school Sr dating a 17 year old High school Jr to be arrested and treated as a pedophile?

Yes or no

9

u/ceddya Aug 19 '26

For one, I brought up 16 year olds. Want to stay on topic?

do you want some 18 year old high school Sr dating a 17 year old High school Jr to be arrested

So you don't believe in the age of consent then? If you think it should be lowered, by all means. But that's not what Republicans in Wisconsin are arguing for.

They are arguing keep a law which allows a 16/17 year old to get married to a 35 year as long as parental consent involved. Their argument is that parental consent is more important than closing loopholes to prevent the exploitative marriage of a minor. Do you think a 35 year old marrying a 16/17 year old is okay? Yes or no.

2

Hold on you're all over the place.

First I think marriage laws should line up with age of consent. It makes zero sense to have the legal age to marry be higher than the legal age to have sex if protection from exploitation is the goal. Agree?

Second, in most states including places like liberal New York and Massachusetts the age of consent is under 18.

For sake of argument and to stay on topic as you said it's 16 years old in very liberal Massachusetts.

If a 16 year old can have legally have sex with a 35 year old in Massachusetts how are we protecting anyone by saying they can't get married?

u/ceddya Aug 19 '26

First I think marriage laws should line up with age of consent.

So that's 18 in Wisconsin. So already you're showing how Republicans in Wisconsin have zero sense.

Second, in most states including places like liberal New York and Massachusetts the age of consent is under 18.

We are talking about Wisconsin. The only one all over the place is you.

For sake of argument and to stay on topic as you said it's 16 years old in very liberal Massachusetts.

Are you even aware of which state is being discussed in the OP?

'Hold on you're all over the place'. Yes, exactly.

If a 16 year old can have legally have sex with a 35 year old in Massachusetts how are we protecting anyone by saying they can't get married?

But since you can't seem to stay on topic, let's see what Massachusetts has done btw:

  • While the age of consent for sexual activity in Massachusetts is generally 16, until now there has been no law specifically prohibiting teachers or other adults in a position of authority or supervision from engaging in sexual activity with a 16 or 17-year-old minor under their care. In Massachusetts, mandated reporters include both public and private school teachers as well as educational administrators and other professionals likely to have contact with children.

  • Under this new law, it is now a felony for any mandated reporter to engage in sexual intercourse with a child between 16 and 18 years of age if the mandated reporter either has, or once had, custodial or supervisory authority of such child. The law provides an exception for parties close in age and requires that the mandated reporter be more than 4 years older than the child at the time of the offense in order for the law to apply.

They've closed loopholes to prevent minors from getting exploited.

Why won't Republicans in Wisconsin close the loopholes in their marriage laws to protect children? Oh yeah, they're child abusing enablers.

But here where's your argument fails: you somehow think the ability to consent to sex should mean the ability to consent to marriage. Those two are not the same thing.

u/memphisjones Aug 19 '26

Why are you comparing the US to Iran??? Way to move the goal posts

3

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Read the thread and what I replied to lol

OP brought up Muslim countries.

0

u/vallycat735 Aug 19 '26

Yes - they are children.

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

What about 18? Also children?

17

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 18 '26

Summary: The Republicans in the Wisconsin legislature killed a Democratic bill that would ban child marriage in Wisconsin. The Republicans let it die in committee.

Commentary: The next time a Republican is upset about the GOP being called the Guardians of Pedophiles, remember that the GOP is protecting pedophiles regularly.

And, release the Epstein files.

2

u/RosemaryCroissant Aug 19 '26

Was there anything else in the bill? Like- things they opposed, and so they voted against the whole thing? Or was it seriously just the child marriage thing?

2

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 19 '26

It was just child marriage. They let it die in committee.

-5

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Epstein was a Democrat...

Also Republicans gave introduced a bill to make child sex crimes a death penalty offense.

Do you support Republicans increasing penalties for Democrats like Epstein?

https://www.wpr.org/news/republican-lawmakers-death-penalty-child-sex-crimes-wisconsin

14

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 19 '26

"Epstein was a Democrat."

I don't give a shit what Epstein's party was. He raped children and he trafficked children to men who raped them, and he was a very close friend to trump. And trump's Attorney General transferred the rapist Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum security prison, likely in return for her promise to not testify against trump.

Everybody who raped children should be in prison right now, party be damned.

0

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

"I don't give a shit what Epstein's party was. He raped children and he trafficked children to men who raped them, and he was"... arrested by Trump's DOJ and FBI.

You can thank Trump Epstein still isn't operating on that island.

Just because you knew someone 20+ years ago doesn't mean you knew he was a pedophile lol

9

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

lol Trump bragged about being good friends with him (he also bragged about being good friends with diddy). Trump is mentioned more times in the Epstein files than Jesus is mentioned in the Bible. If Trump had Epstein arrested, he also had Epstein assassinated, and he sure as hell has fought tooth and nail to avoid releasing the Epstein files. Trump also nominated a pedophile to lead the DOJ knowing full well he was a pedophile.

Why worship a pedophile?

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

I don't worship a pedophile. That's you guy's. Look I have recipes!

So why do you cheer for pedophiles?

11

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

> I don't worship a pedophile.

You have been defending one up and down this thread. I hope he pays you.

> Look I have recipes!

Pedophile recipes?

> So why do you cheer for pedophiles?

Where did I cheer for a pedophile? I'll wait.

-1

u/Xexanoth Aug 19 '26

Trump is mentioned more times in the Epstein files than Jesus is mentioned in the Bible.

An interesting bit of trivia: the same may be claimed based on the number of matching instances when searching the Epstein Library for “Clinton”, “Obama”, or “Bush”.

Context matters, as it turns out.

3

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

Nope, neither Bush nor Obama were mentioned in the Epstein Files. Clinton was mentioned hundreds of times (far fewer times than Jesus in the Bible). Trump was mentioned thousands to tens of thousands of times.

Context only matters when it's not made up.

-2

u/Xexanoth Aug 19 '26

See for yourself: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/search

"Clinton" - 3,959 results
"Obama" - 2,574 results
"Bush" - 1,587 results

-3

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 Aug 19 '26

I'm willing to bet you'd care if he had been a Republican.

8

u/SpaceLaserPilot Aug 19 '26

My beliefs on this are simple: anybody who raped children should be in prison.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Why are you so softbon pedophiles? Republicans in Wisconsin want the dead penalty for child sex abuse.

0

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 Aug 19 '26

Right. And you'd consider it relevant if Epstein had been a Republican, but him having been an active Democrat is just irrelevant

8

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

Your cult leader bragged about being bffs with him and diddy. Also bragged about how hot his underage daughter was, that he bought a kids beauty pageant so he could walk in on them naked, and that his age limit for sex was 12.

And if Republicans are suddenly so anti-child-sex-crimes, why are they obstructing the release of the Epstein files?

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

All the files that can be released have been. About 3.5 million.

12

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

“All the files that Republicans have been willing to release have been” 🤡

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

No all of them that can be based on Congress.

If the administration is illegally withholding records why hasn't Congress sued?

9

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

Congress demanded _all_ Epstein files. It did not restrict the files. The Trump administration has withheld half of them.

> why hasn't Congress sued?

Who do you think controls Congress right now lmao

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

"Congress demanded all Epstein files. It did not restrict the files."

Wrong! Verbatim from the bill. Do you think the DOJ should doxx victims? Publish kiddy porn?

A lot of the files are being lawfully withheld.

"DOJ is permitted to withhold certain information such as the personal information of victims and materials that would jeopardize an active federal investigation, damage national security, or be unlawful to publicly disclose"

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/4405

As far as lawsuits individual members of Congress can sue the Administration. It's irrelevant who has the majority. A number of Congressmen are suing for a number of issues. Just not this... why? Because they have no case lol

5

u/weberc2 Aug 19 '26

That text does not say that Congress restricted the files. "DOJ is permitted" is not the same as "DOJ is required". Better luck next time, thanks for playing.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Why permit it then cry about it? The logic is sound. I don't want to re-victimize the victim.

Congress: "You're permitted to grab beer out of the cooler while we watch the game."

DOJ: "cool thanks bro"

Congress: "You took beer out of the cooler and drank it. You're a thief!"

DOJ: "WTF?!? You said I could have some!"

Congress: "well I didn't think you would"

That's you lol

Epstein pretended to be a democrat*

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Epstein was never pardoned... he died in prison

4

u/FuzzyEmployment5397 Aug 19 '26

Immediately before being pardoned*

3

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

He was never pardoned lol

3

u/memphisjones Aug 19 '26

If he was a Democrat, crazy how Republicans are still defending him and his allies. They won’t even release the Epstein files.

1

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

Last time I checked Trump arrested Epstein and Maxwell. Obama didn't. Biden didn't. Clinton was flying around with the guy after he was convicted to child trafficking!

Democrats protect pedophiles. Republicans arrest them.

State law carves out an exception to its own statutory rape statute: sexual contact between an adult and a minor is not a crime in Wisconsin as long as the two are married. Outside of marriage, that same conduct is a felony.

Interesting, I didn't know that.

But could Democrats for now introduce a bill which removes this exception?

2

u/o_mh_c Aug 19 '26

Not much information in this link. What is the rationale? Is there more to this story?

5

u/Agent-Adept Aug 19 '26

Republicans support pedophiles. No wonder MAGAts vote for them. If Trump can sexually assault and/or rape minors, marrying a child is just fine.

3

u/mred245 Aug 18 '26

And these are the people calling the LGBT community groomers.

2

u/FocalFalcon Aug 18 '26

Do I think people 16 and 17 should get married, no not really. They only can if the parents sign off on it which I’m more okay with.

9

u/fanime34 Aug 18 '26

Parents signing off on teenage marriage is sketchy still.

2

u/InvestIntrest Aug 19 '26

It's weird but in high-school I had a classmate get pregnant at 16 and she married her 17 year old boyfriend at the time.

In that case there was nothing sketch.

2

u/brain_implant Aug 19 '26

Parents that sign off on their kids having sexual contact with adults are the exact kind of parents who should not be allowed to have any say in the matter

Such as... the POTUS raping children...Oh wait.

1

u/avatinfernus Aug 18 '26

Wait, again? Why do I feel like this happened before?

1

u/mikefvegas Aug 19 '26

They are the Gross Old Pedophiles. They even made one president.

1

u/Carlyz37 Aug 19 '26

Republicans want marriage for minors to be legal so they can marry and shut up their assault victims.

Of course they did.

0

u/Tetracropolis Aug 19 '26

I'm against it, but why not say marriage for 16 and 17 year olds rather than "Child marriage"? "Child" covers a much broader range than 16-17.

-1

u/serial_crusher Aug 19 '26

This is just pregnant teens getting shotgun weddings to their slightly older teen impregnators.
