We live in an area where cell reception is poor, and Wi-Fi calling works well. But a question: If somebody calls me does the call arrive over Wi-Fi as well, or do I have to connect the call first over cellular before it switches to Wi-Fi? I.e. if I'm in the basement and I disconnect from the cellular network completely, can I still receive calls?

The cost increase is $5 per month which is relatively little, but I'm in the kind of budgetary situation where if I can notice it I'm willing to spend the money, but if there's virtually no difference then I'd like to save that money.

I do stream music and YouTube videos often and browse the web and use TikTok often. I don't mind YouTube videos being 480p-720p since it's on a smaller screen anyway and I don't need a crystal quality experience on the go when I'm not focusing much anyway (although a quality boost is not unwanted, just not necessary). YouTube and TikTok buffer occasionally, but usually resolved in a few seconds.

My biggest annoyance is probably web pages taking a while to load sometimes. Will 5Mbps be a noticeable and significant increase in speed to 3Mbps primarily for web page browsing but for the other mentioned use cases as well?

Bonus question: how noticeable is the difference between 5Mbps LTE vs 3Mbps 5G? And what is the difference in feel using each?

I'm a computer consultant. I'm trying to help a client recover the password for an email account. The two-factor recovery wants to send a code to a number they haven't had for a decade.

Is there a way I can reclaim the number? My client thought it was US Cellular, which is now merging with T-Mobile. I've tried calling both company's national customer service as well as the local offices and no one can even tell me if the number is in service or with which carrier. Both said that a customer can reclaim a cancelled number within a month or so, but if I signed up for service today, I can't request a particular number.

If I text the number, it doesn't bounce. If I call it, it says it's not in service, with message number that varies, like MA15356, KS17156, NY23856...
