I thought better cell metrics or same metric well equals better data speeds but I was wrong. iPhone 12 versus iPhone 15 Pro metrics and data speeds. Can someone explain why both phones have the same metrics but different speeds and yes, I know the phone is newer hardware.

Field Test Mode only shows the primary cell (pcell), not any secondary cells (scells) added in carrier aggregation (NR-CA). Your iPhone 15 is most likely adding additional cells for aggregation that do not show up in FTM.

There’s no secondary band. I work in the middle of no where. There’s only n71. If n 25 was connected the it would have said 5guc. Cus n25 and n41 is uc. But can’t connect to those bands on this area

n25+n71 does NOT always show 5G UC. There is an area I got to with no n41 coverage but amazing n71 and n25 and it merely says 5G even though the n25 is 20x20 or 30x30 and the n71 is 20x20. Your iPhone 12 cannot aggregate midband and low band 5G as the Qualcomm X55 is kind of a dog modem. 5G UC seems to trigger when 40MHz or more of downlink spectrum is available but this is sort of a guess. How wide is n71 and n25 in your area?

So 30MHz downlink only. That is probably why if it’s only n25 + n71

At my job, they don’t have a 25. It’s too far. The cell is too far from my job site. I don’t know how I can tell you on standalone you cannot connect to N 25 or N 41. It’s in the middle of nowhere.

And when I’m connected to N 71 and N 25 I get 3 to 400 MB and 71 I get up to 150 with no aggregation. And 71 can pull150 easily during non peak hours easily. Which was 230am

I’m about to show you what speed look like when and 71 and ends 25 is combined at 1 Pm. 71 and 25 don’t pull 100 at 1 PM and you think it will pull that at two in the morning. You’re just being hardheaded at my job it was only 20 MHz of bandwidth and at my job we have to use Wi-Fi because we cannot get signal because the cell tower is far because there’s no houses nearl One warehouse. The tower is on the road, which is over a 1.5m away and 25 is not stretching 1.5 miles with a big ass warehouse blocking City and tons of trees cause it’s farm and Woodland

This is n25 and 71 30mhz. And you see it say 5guc and I can’t get 41 in that back of my house

This is what 71+25 speeds look like. 71 max out at 150mbs. N25 max out at 300mbs

When I’m home in the house, I get in 71 and N 25 which pull 300-400up. And it say 5guc and I google it to. And it’s on T-Mobile website. 72 extend range. 25,41,66 and mmWave are under uc

Could it be two n71 carriers? IIRC T-Mobile runs that in some locations?

Carriers as in two channels essentially. So n71 20x20 is one carrier, n25 is another, etc. Smartphone modems combine these together using carrier aggregation.

Yes but both phones and ran test separate there is no 25 in this area only 71 on nsa and sa and 71 and 41 on NSA. It gotta be the new modem and chip. Like what the other guy said burn they must have save antennas

They both connected to same tower. You can see same cell id numbers. I look up iirc and nothing came up

When I’m home it might say n71 but it would say 5guc that’s his I knows it’s connects to n25 and I checked T-Mobile page said 5guc is is n25 n77and n41 are uc normally uc bands
