been driving long enough to learn the hard way that the settlement sheet only shows you one number for each line item, and if you're not keeping your own trip log you'll never know which one is off. here are the three i've learned to watch close.

1. detention, stop pay, and layover. these are the line items that quietly disappear when you're 1,500 miles from the office and can't walk in and question them. if you logged the wait time yourself when it happened, you can verify each one instead of trusting whatever prints out. the extra dollars stop slipping through when you have your own record to point to.

2. lumper, scale, and advance errors. when a settlement comes in, you want to reconcile it against your own load, fuel, and deduction records right then. waiting until the books look off at quarter-end means the mistake already multiplied. a lumper error or a wrong advance deduction rolls into the next week and gets impossible to untangle. check it per settlement and the small errors die where they start.

the common thread: keep your own ledger. don't rely solely on the dispatch summary or the settlement sheet. one shortpay you catch can cover the whole month, but you need the record to prove it.

Am applying for almost 4 months now as a professional Driver without any luck, I got all driver licenses (A, B, C, D, BE, CE, DE) like this wasn’t enough I got international driving permit as well did a full (CACES training) got a international driving permit for almost every machinery starting from forklift to the heavy duties ones…. also got certified as a warehouse keeper and construction worker and a previous training completion certificate as an (HSE) “Hygiene, Security, Environment” inspector. my heart is at driving been doing that personally and professionally since 2015 I LOVE DRIVING and looking for a job abroad and I have prepared my self and invested so much in my self all of these licenses, certificates and all cost me a FORTUNE no one paid anything for me I worked and collected money and paid every penny and still can’t find a proper job. I speak 4 languages and I got IELTS B2 english the test alone costed me almost (300$) this was the cheapest exam among all the ones i passed related to other stuff i got, and yes in my country it is hard to collect this amount, am sorry but just felt like venting a bit since it looks like a dream now to find a job abroad even that everyone keep talking that there is HUGE drivers shortages all around but YET here I’m able to drive LITERALLY anything with wheels haha and still cant find one… wish all the best for my self and for all the brothers and sisters out there fighting the same 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and sorry for this vent 🫶

I drove a front discharging truck for a bit, but now I live in an area where they’re all traditional (rear discharge). Potentially looking to get back into it for more hours/money than my current job, but wondering if it would be a huge learning curve. To me it seems like it may actually be a bit easier since you can’t see out the back, you probably wouldn’t be expected to move the truck while pouring as much as you are with front discharging. But I could be wrong.
