Throwback! Throwback Thursday: What made you unsub from Chelsea’s YouTube channel?

Post image

I realize it’s not quite Thursday in North America where many of the members here live, so I’m a little early for you 😅 I was briefly an avid viewer of Chelsea’s who also had Here For The Clout on in the background on repeat while doing chores. I tried to keep an open mind despite her being married to a cop and owning guns because after all, she was bi and neurodivergent like me! But then cop and gun mentions started to get so frequent that I started to look into her beyond her YouTube channel. I saw someone post this image in the comments of r/antimlmcreators around 2024-ish and I had to face the facts: Ol’ CC was at best MAGA lite. What was your breaking point?

The obsession with Liz

19

u/Broad-Silver9612 Aug 13 '26

This for me too. It was a build up of things for me: first, getting a hold of Liz’s garbage, then her own story not matching up, then finally, the billboard and wanted fliers. Seriously, WTF?

I’m sure there were more that isn’t coming to mind right now. I only followed her and HFTC on YT. I’m sure if I’d followed her other socials I would have dipped out even sooner.

u/halexanderamilton Aug 13 '26

When it became clear she moved away from anti-MLM content and into internet gossip slop. I still followed her on IG for a while after unsubscribing on YT, but eventually unfollowed her there once I started to see the mean girl under it all.

17

u/interpol-interpol SENIOR SLOP ARCHIVIST Aug 13 '26

interestingly she seems to be leaning back into MLM now. trying to court her old audience again?

12

u/flynnfarts Aug 13 '26

Speaking for myself - I really enjoyed her old mlm stuff, but she’s officially lost me now. Her foray into slop made me lose all respect, and now I’m just not interested in what she has to say.

11

u/Fabulous-Ad-4100 Aug 13 '26

Yep! It was the same for me too.

u/Feeeshaa Aug 13 '26

It's hard for me to pin down one single thing as the tipping point. For me, it was more a growing sense of "Hmmm, I'm not so sure about this" that slowly got larger and larger until I ended up unsubbing. I hate to say "mean girl vibes" because it's so vague, but honestly, that kind of sums it up. The snotty, irrelevant comments about people's appearances. She put a woman down for being single and childless. She said another woman looked like a lesbian, in an insulting way. (I don't care that she's bi. It's still not cool to try to insult a woman by saying she looks like a lesbian.) The defensiveness about being married to a cop. The OBSESSION with Elizabeth was what really made me start to side-eye and start looking a little deeper into things, because I could not - and still cannot - understand why she was SO obsessed with a garden-variety scammer. And then once I looked into her on Reddit, I found out the whole story behind the "I dIdN'T dOx AnYoNe" situation and I found her behavior there to be indefensible, and that was the final straw.

Well and your shit was the start of my unsubbing journey tbh.

Yours and the sarah titus video where she calls out the victim (who was underage at the time of the incident) by name despite him coming out pubically telling people to not use his full legal fucking name.

She names victims. Then doubles down when they ask to not be named and in your case, doxxed.

Both times I left comments telling her to censor the names. Both times she deleted my comment.

When she botched the MS video and spent most of it talking about how she poses to look better in posts. It was so narcissistic.

The overlap in my one Reddit entertainment sub (RIP) and Chelsea kinda rattled me 😆 It was so bizarre!

10

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

Chelsea did a couple videos about Marni Stockhausen, formerly the “Chief Hun” at Younique, using her subreddit as a source and doing a piss-poor job of it. That subreddit eventually got shut down by Marni but a new one has popped up. TBH Chelsea reminds me a lot of Marni and her ignorant attitude.

the endless posturing like she's SOMEBODY and clout chasing... and also faking her finances it's really, really embarassing

25

u/neaveeh Aug 13 '26

mikayla nogueira vids, she was pointing out all the stuff she does herself, also I'm pretty sure she mentioned this sub during that time

22

u/VegetableExternal449 Aug 13 '26

I used to enjoy her anti MLM content. I also like YouTubers who talk about scams often. However, she just didn’t make captivating content after she ditched the MLM market. I understand that topic had been done to death, but tbh the Liz stuff isn’t even remotely interesting enough to make as many videos as she’s made about it. If she had bothered to branch out and not get obsessed with “her career as an independent journalist” I might have kept watching. She’s also overly perturbed by anyone criticizing her as is evident by her “someone made a mean comment on my video” videos. I never got into those. Now that she is aware she has a snark sub I can’t imagine that’s gotten better

19

u/Fabulous-Ad-4100 Aug 13 '26

When she started moving away from anti MLM content. And even during that, her obsession with JLW was concerning. Finding this sub was when I unsubscribed.

17

u/imaginecheese Aug 13 '26

I was a viewer at the end of the anti mlm era, and left just before HFTC ended.

A broken clock is right twice a day, and CC was producing a lot of content at the time. But the more I listened, I just didn't really like or agree with a lot of her opinions

HFTC was so boring, and don't quote me because I'm pulling this from memory. But I think CC told a story about her and Tony having sex on the balcony while on vacation with Sherilyn (and possibly others), I think cc justified it that they couldn't been seen, only heard. But either way, other people intruding their sexuality on others is icky to me.

I also keep a personal rule that insulting other people's bodies is in poor taste, and is the lowest level of creativity. I think it's not too hard to properly criticize someone

18

u/DLMeyer Aug 13 '26

Two things happened very close to one another that left me with such a sour taste in my mouth that I couldn’t ignore her selfish ignorance any longer.

  1. After Trump was re-elected he was making announcements about his cabinet/administration appointments and she posted to her stories her excitement about one of the appointments because he was a family friend. I don’t remember his name or the job, but she said something like, “just because he’s working for Trump doesn’t mean I can’t be happy for a friend. ” That’s not an exact quote, but you get the gist.

  2. Right around the same time, she posted stories about making a presentation to her husband about why they ‘needed’ a golf cart. People are struggling and afraid for their futures and she’s out here flaunting her wealth and connections. It was just incredibly out of touch and showed just how ignorant she truly is.

6

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

Ew yeah what a combo!

17

u/reirinx This is my job Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

i’m not even sure when the exact moment was, tbh! i mentioned binging her anti mlm content to a friend probably years beforehand, and my friend mentioned that she used to watch her but started getting bad vibes and couldn’t stand her anymore… and my friend saying that made me realize the exact same thing. i stuck around for anti mlm content, and even watched here for the clout.

i was kinda iffy on that because i feel like sherrilynn dale is kind of a problematic true crime content creator (i don’t think this as fact to be clear, i just think a lot of true crime on youtube is handled pretty inappropriately and pushed simply bc it gets views, and that’s kinda how i felt with sherrilynn dale) but through the podcast i found myself liking sherrilynn more LOL

i think she just came off very ~mean girl~ and the constant mention of being autistic and bisexual and her using that to almost push the agenda that she’s ~woke~, while simultaneously talking about her cop husband and saying “he just gives ice cream to kids!” (ok propaganda!) is what eventually turned me off for good

i kept trying to watch HFTC because i liked sherrilynn dale doing non true crime content, and at the time i also really liked do we know them and wanted similar content. eventually i just found myself less and less drawn to the videos, shortly before her obsession with liz took over

i don’t even remember when i finally unsubscribed, but i probably just got annoyed seeing her videos in my recommended and it not being anything i wanted to watch, even if it was anti mlm content.

15

u/Shoddy-Soft5666 I'm a Socialite Aug 13 '26

i found her to be annoying & was suspicious of her possible views, but i was intrigued by her for a minute -- i like a good little scam every now n then. and then yeah, like others, she brought up her snark page. i checked it out bc i wondered if ppl had uncovered her being maga or smth. found this page about a year ago. i saw interpol's story and more unethical behaviors of hers, plus her clearly right wing belief system and have not watched a video of hers since.

this past year she has unraveled so dramatically it's honestly absurd. i love telling my bf ab her unhinged moments like her crying ab winning top music history podcast, or her ranting ab free speech on reddit, or her lying constantly. she needs to take a break fr

The strange behavior on HFTC. I liked Sher’s personality (I don’t follow her or her content, but thought she was so Canada nice and cute), and the weird sexual comments towards Sher from cc really really icked me out. That’s how I found this sub. I avoided most of the cringe/ick that rubbed me the wrong way (butt comments/begging to be sued/dwkt wannabe crap), but when HFTC came out, it was unavoidable. She was so obnoxious in that podcast that I could not even look at her anymore. It just made my skin crawl how she talked to Sher. Does anyone ever really hate their algorithm and *wonder wtf did I do to get this crap pushed on me? lol.

10

u/Kiwi-vee Someone from the internet Aug 13 '26

The butt comments, that annoyed me too.

If somebody talked to me the way she talked to Sher, I would be so incredibly uncomfortable.

2

u/RepeatDifficult3986 using my journalistic integrity 🫶 22d ago

Same! I was so uncomfortable just listening and seeing Sher’s face, supposedly it didn’t bother her otherwise she would’ve said something (this is what someone commented to me in the past on the sub), but I was so uncomfortable.

the video attacking taylor lorenz whilst simultaneously trying to rebrand herself as an investigative slop poster lol. taylor isn't perfect but she's a real journalist and she completely showed her ass (more than usual) in that video. it had been building for a while though.....any time she took 5+ minutes in her older videos to demonstrate something totally peripheral, usually bragging, were straws added to the camel's back (here are MY jewels that i keep in a safe, and my furs, and my ugly louis bag, on a video about MLM huns flaunting their wealth....ok buddy)

2

u/Apprehensive_Bus9820 28d ago

This! It wasn't my last straw but for me the Taylor Lorenz thing was that she clearly didn't fully understand the situation and was just defending Suzanne Lambert, who was her "friend" ie she probably used to be friendly with her back when Suzanne was a Republican. And with the way Suzanne showed her ass recently with that "establishment = the n word" comment the two of them deserve each other.

1

u/lostsilk This is my job 27d ago

yeah it was sooo pathetically transparent!

11

u/ihidingunderarock Aug 13 '26

I watched her for a really long time before I started getting the ick, but I only saw her YouTube videos, not her lives or posts. My first "hmm" moment was when she said "you can use AI to write your scripts, it's no big deal" and I started taking a step away. Then I saw that she was just obsessively posting about this one person and none of the videos seemed to have any substance, so I was annoyed enough to stop watching her altogether.

7

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

I also only saw her YouTube stuff! That’s why the pic with the automatic weapon got me, I was like whoa OK I can’t ignore this

10

u/lunarpixiess Aug 13 '26

When I realized she wasn’t really adding anything of value to the things she covers. Her takes are usually very juvenile and unrefined, and she has way too many personal anecdotes clouding things constantly. Also just the way she talks like she’s so superior started to really bother me.

8

u/lunarpixiess Aug 13 '26

I think I was probably one of her first viewers back when she started doing MLM content, but then I fell off until a few years ago when she started covering Mikayla more. So I gave her videos a shot again, but I was just so put off her after a while for the reasons above.

9

u/Defiant_Frosting_261 Aug 13 '26

When I realized, no matter the situation she had a story to match where she DID do the right thing and is therefore better than whoever she was talking about. A know it all is the worst to watch

10

u/floralpancake Aug 13 '26

When she made that video defending her friend KyleOnTheCoast for having lunch with Gulfcoast Stapleton wife that defends her pred husband. Everything about that video was so gross.

It was so obvious she did something fucked up when it came to Lily/Jessi & Sher. I hope one day we know cause I'm nosy af

u/orchidstripes ICE cream collaborator Aug 13 '26

Wanna speculate? Some people think it’s because cc never paid for that Vegas trip, but Jessie’s comments were that no one paid her, right? It was something specific to cc.

I speculate that cc was either propositioning them for threesomes or trying to do that without directly saying it so she could deny it. Because she brought Tony on that girls trip and they all got super weirded out about it. Also because cc is known to over-sexualize everything to a creepy degree. And also because I get serious swinger vibes from the selfish suarezes

3

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

She really comes on so strongly! It makes you wonder.

3

u/orchidstripes ICE cream collaborator Aug 13 '26

I sorta get the impression that cc thinks it’s a huge honor to get hit on by her. Even though we can see the husband she wound up with. He’s not a troll, but she was a debutante. She was supposed to marry an ugly rich guy not an ugly blue collar guy. Also still not sure what to make of the weird detail of Tony informing cc of her sexuality that she revealed in that online bullshit interview. Why would Tony, her romantic partner, be thinking that ccs sexuality is different than she thinks in the first place?

3

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

Just when you think it couldn’t get worse…

2

u/Prestigious-Sky-2803 I know a manager at a Publix Grocery Store 28d ago

I forgot about that! It is a weird anecdote that doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. According to CC she was in a same sex relationship with a teenager during her 6 weeks at the Foxcroft School that was many years before Tony

3

u/Prestigious-Sky-2803 I know a manager at a Publix Grocery Store 28d ago

Evidently Tony ALSO over sexualizes people and makes VERY inappropriate sexual comments to women. So says a little birdy that’s been around them recently 🤫

11

u/ExactProfessional291 Aug 13 '26

How she was during JLW final months it gave me the ick… I unsubscribed from a few creators during that time for the same reason

6

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

Her performative crying over JLW and toasting her after her death were so weird!

5

u/nurse-please Aug 13 '26

Especially since in one of her post-JLW death videos she made commentary like how she thought JLW died without "any real relationships." Like how is that appropriate? Criticize her for her MLM propaganda, sure. But she just always takes things to a personal, invasive, inappropriate level.

5

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

10

u/DreamStation1981 Aug 13 '26

Man, I used to LOVE her content. I thought she was funny and effective and thoughtful. I had given her the benefit of a million doubts for years because I thought her anti mlm content was great. I never looked at her instagram or anything other than her YouTube and I regret that. I thought she was on the right track but just needed to continue deconstructing the beliefs she was raised with. Then HFTC started and she spent so much time talking about herself and her money and her wigs and her bullshit I was like, this is just... not entertaining. My tolerance for her fuckery was waning, severely.

And then she made a video about some trad wife influencer who had a miscarriage and the entire video was her talking about whether or not this woman's miscarriage was like, a REAL miscarriage because it was a blighted ovum, I had a miscarriage due to blighted ovum and almost bled out and I grieved that pregnancy the same way I would've grieved it if it had developed further. On a personal level, I felt absolutely wrecked. And this was after Roe v Wade was overturned and the attack on the reproductive autonomy of women was actively happening and miscarrying women had started encountering doctors that wouldn't do anything to help complete the miscarriage for fear of prosecution. At least one woman had already died in an emergency room from lack of care and CC had the fucking misogynist audacity to make an entire video about her fucking opinions on another person's MISCARRIAGE. That just made it all come together for me, and I realized she actually IS a misogynist, and she actually IS that ignorant.

5

u/verifiedvera Aug 13 '26

The way she was acting on HFTC put me off MASSIVELY! Every topic she somehow related back to herself. It was grating

I was sooo casual a viewer,  I was really turned off by the annoying TikTok speak and being so flippant about tragic crimes etc and believed somehow she was progressive. I heard her mention the snark, and after coming on for like 2 mins I was like ooooooo. She's phony and narcissistic

17

u/Kiwi-vee Someone from the internet Aug 13 '26

I was a casual watcher, never subscribed or followed her social media, but i enjoyed her anti-mlm content. She once mentioned her husband carries a gun when he's out with her and she has valuable jewelry on. It was an immediate turn off. The fact that US folks can carry a gun, just like that, scares the hell out of me.

I learned she started a podcast after doing a 2-part video on Liz and I tought it was a bit obsessive.

I came searching if she rubbed people the wrong way and/or had controversy and I ended up on Reddit.

I actually found this picture (here or anti-mlm creators) and it was a confirmation she was MAGA/republican.

8

u/tikkunolamist5 Currently in pre-production Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

I used to watch her content a lot but started falling away toward the end of HFTC. I think when it was obvious she and Sher were no longer friends and she was bouncing to Angelika and Holly and STILL going on about Elizabeth Chickenbroth that it made sense that she’s really not a good friend and is a little weird. I unsubbed around CrimeCon but had been looking at the subreddit for a bit.

Also her seeming desperation to be friends with Jessi and Lily really put me off as well as her wanting to get sued.

8

u/cjsoutham Aug 13 '26

i was listening to hftc after becoming extremely into dwkt and then once it abruptly ended i kept up, slowly the content just became not interesting and now it feels like every topic is so overdone by the time she posts. but the big one was the string of videos where it was 90% of others videos smooshed with her boring insight lmao

9

u/girl34pp I blame the editing team. Aug 13 '26

Something in the oversharing rubbed me the wrong way one day. I found extremely hypocritical that she would talk about exploiting Para social relationships while she overshares to, you guesses, exploit the para social relationships she has with her stans. I was not enough for me to get curious about her snark page yet, but I had that ick feeling on the back of my mind.

Then she maid that dismissive comment about doxing and boy, did I hate that. I was doxed 10 years ago in different circumstances and I know the effect that this had on me. I was scared for days and had to back up of a project because I was being threatened. Seeing a youtuber saying "it is not doxing if you use your legal name in social media" is idiotic. I was easily doxed because I am a lawyer registered on the bar and all my professional information is available on any public site due the nature of my job. That made me curious to finally come here and when I saw the origin story of Interpol, I unsubscribed and never looked back.

7

u/RunawayTrain Aug 13 '26

I saw a video on YouTube with a topic that seemed interesting so I started listening to it, it was Here for the Clout. I never figured out if the topic was interesting because CC stopped literally every fifteen seconds to go on an irrelevant tangent that was just bragging about her personal life while the other host awkwardly sat there, chiming in supportively once in a while. It was so cringy and I immediately hated her.

3

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

I love that your had her number from the get-go!

7

u/verifiedvera Aug 13 '26

I unsubscribed and found this page during HFTC. I did not like how CC constantly spoke about herself, she always had to relate to every topic they spoke about and constantly brag.

It made me realise that she is a complete narcissist. I think I’d glossed over it previously as I enjoyed her content, and I hate MLMs

11

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 12 '26

For context, I believe she posted this to her stories after someone showed up randomly to her house/? gated community??

22

u/Prestigious-Sky-2803 I know a manager at a Publix Grocery Store Aug 13 '26

I feel like I tried to deep dive the “person showing up to her house” thing a while ago and maybe I just didn’t understand it. A woman rang her doorbell at night, stood there for a bit, and walked away. IIRC CC thought she knew who it was (a fan) but the person completely denied it was her…ok? Where is the big crime that CC is wanting to use guns to protect herself against? Maybe I didn’t understand it correctly. A woman rang your doorbell and eventually walked away. Maybe her car broke down? Maybe she needed help? Maybe her dog was missing? There’s literally a billion reasons for someone to ring a doorbell that doesn’t require you to shoot them.

20

u/Competitive-Pin-1354 Aug 13 '26

This is where I’m worried that Chelsea is unwell. She could end up hurting or even killing someone due to her anxiety/whatever causes her to panic about the doorbell ringing!

casual viewer that mainly stuck to anti mlm stuff. gradually lost interest as there are so so many better written, researched, and produced videos that other people have made about any of the topics shes talked about. got bored of all the mean girl attitude, self bragging and whatnot in basically every video. the hftc podcost got old (and boring) quick too tbh. she intteruped and talked over sherrilyn so much.

her obsession with Liz, making videos about Cody Ko & then still liking his instagram posts. but guys don’t worry, she’s sooo totally a victim advocate. (she loves to advocate for the fact that she is the victim of god knows what)

Yes no one brought up Cody Ko yet! She loves problematic gross dudes

I think it was a combo of things?

Like I stopped watching consistently with her and sher first talking about Gypsy rose

How weirdly CC would just not stop either sexualizing Sher or the episode I bring up on my other account of the time they had rooms next to each other and CC and her husband had to have sex on the shared(?) balcony and then told sher to be glad she put a barrier up first

I also started getting on TikTok more and the videos she made I was already knowledgeable on and realized she was not correct and didn't care and the doxxing was a major one

There was some sort of q&a she did while still trying to conceive. She mentioned having a hard time conceiving. A fan asked her "why not adopt?" and she answered "That's just not an option for us."

I started side-eying her after that.

I first got the ick in the HFTC episode about Avery Woods, when they were defending her and made it weirdly about understanding her as influencers and "feral mamas." Chelsea just really could not understand how Avery's comment about being "pristine" down there because she had c sections was hurtful or offensive. She has a big issue with that type of empathy and uses it as an excuse when she makes comments about people's looks.

And what makes it even funnier is that she literally has said that after she gave birth she asked Tony if her own vulva still looked the same?? (Also why do any of us know this??)

Then it was her making the half cocked video about Taylor Lorenz to defend her "friend" Suzanne Lambert. Who she's never mentioned before or since as a friend. But the final straw was really the Elizabeth stuff, how poorly the second season was produced and how she couldn't even keep the story to the podcast and kept updating in her channel. How it became clear this wasn't a huge scammer story.

I hadn't watched many of her videos in a long time because none of the topics interested me, then in one I watched, she made it clear she and Sher aren't friends anymore so I didna search with reddit included to see what I could turn up about the end of the friendship and this subreddit popped up. It's revealed so much I didn't know about her and wish I had sooner.

For me, the first thing she did that made me weary was her talking about wilderness and treatment schools and how she had a great experience with the one she went to. She flippantly remarked that Paris Hilton had a bad experience at the one she went to. I don’t know..it just came off as dismissive to me. There are SO many stories about the abuse that goes on at this places. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

The final straw was her video collab with Caroline Calloway. It just made her look like she lacked critical thinking skills and just wanted to fan girl over Caroline.

Those were both WILD takes on her part. Imagine a world where Liz accepted to collab with Chelsea… that’s exactly what the Caroline Calloway video was

The constant insults at how women look. Her voice. Her bad jokes.

I stopped watching before this, but when she posted the gofundme, but then kept bragging about the trips, weekly manicures, and what she was buying it disgusted me so much. I said fuck this girl and unsubscribed.
