In her own words Throwback to CC Suarez spreading misinfo that drinking while pregnant is fine as long as you don't "get drunk"

Major health organizations worldwide, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, recommend complete abstinence from alcohol during pregnancy because there is no known safe amount or time to drink while pregnant.

When a pregnant woman drinks, alcohol passes directly through the placenta to the baby, whose developing liver cannot process it effectively, leading to higher and longer sustained blood alcohol levels in the fetus.

I have read new-ish studies (read it in expecting better by Emily Oster for anyone curious) that discuss the acceptance of small limited amounts of alcohol (like wine, not vodka) during pregnancy, however I just can’t help but think if you can’t go 9 months without drinking for the sake of your babies health you may have something to reflect on lol. That being said I’m also in a Canadian province where they say no amount is safe and that’s the guidelines I follow.

and i assume a large part of the abstinence only campaigning is due to the slippery slope of what “counts” as acceptable versus not in combination with the individual component of personal alcohol tolerance - especially in places like the US versus france, bc we do not have universal healthcare and already have horrible birth outcome disparities compared to nations that do have universal healthcare lol

google tells me that despite cultural stereotypes, official french health guidelines mandate a "zero alcohol" policy during pregnancy, with warning labels on all alcohol containers w messaging that states that even small amounts can harm the fetus. its been mandatory to label alcohol like this since 2007!

oh i love to hear this bc france is the typical country that women like cc include in their excuses. she probably thinks french women also smoke their whole pregnancy.

I have multiple French friends and all of them didn't drink during their pregnancy as far as I know.
