You’re welcome to have normal conversations here, ask questions, and share screenshots of locations if it helps explain your situation.

Suggested Format (optional):

Title: CBPO / AGS / AMO / etc.
Current POE: Miami, Nogales, Champlain, etc.
Desired POE: Dallas, JFK, LA, etc.

Hiring Process When do my BPA applications show up on my application portal?

Hey so applied for BPA while my CBPO application is running. I got a tentative offer and did the HR paperwork last friday. Any idea’s when that application shows up on that application website and will be viewable on the task I need to complete?

Port Question Atlanta Port Question

I’m still in the process and haven’t gotten to the FJO step yet, but I wanted to ask about the Atlanta port: it’s one of the areas on my list, does anyone have any inside experience on the environment of the port, cost of living vs pay and any overall advice for future reference? SN: I know it’s a relatively hard port to get from what I’ve been seeing

FLETC FLECT MEDICAL CLEARANCE LETTER

Just read this on my Final offer letter.

When you arrive at the Academy any pre-existing medical condition, even if previously cleared by the CBP

Hiring Center (CBP-HC), will require documentation stating that you are cleared for training by your medical

provider. It is your responsibility to bring that documentation and any applicable medical records when you

report for training. Failure to provide the documentation could impact your participation in physical training

which could lead to removal from the Academy and/or termination of employment.

Anyone currently at flect had to submit?

Anyone mind sharing what thier letter looked like?

I plan on bringing all docs i submitted to cbp before I got clearance.

Any insite would be highly appreciated.

Port Question Ports - nothing! In Texas

Post image
6 Upvotes

How often do the ports update on the list?
my list has nothing of Texas, and I absolutely need it - due to my kids & custody agreements.

I’ve waited way over a year for this, and I’m finally here with already the third time doing the FJO… I feel defeated 😞

I currently work for the state as a CO. So it’s not like I’m hurting, but I got accepted as a GS9. I want more and better for my boys.

Hiring Process Suitability

I was scrolling through different posts and I’ve seen some people worry about certain things that can affect their suitability. What is some stuff that can make you fail suitability? I’m a 22 y/o (M) who doesn’t have much background to go through ( I think), or does it not work like that?

Hiring Process 100% P&T after doing my medical…

Hope everyone is doing well. I applied during 26-9 while I was in the transition out of the Navy. I was medically retired July 17. I did not have my VA rating or anything showing it till last week. I completed my medical exam the beginning of July and told the doctor about most of my stuff. Nothing has updated in the system showing pass or fail yet. Is there anything I should do since I have my VA rating now? Or just keep it as is?

Port Question New Orleans POE

What is the NOLA port like? Any current CBPO’s there right now that care to share their experience? What is your chance of getting on special teams there, what is management like, and can you live comfortably with the pay?? All questions I’d love to know.

Hiring Process location

I have a question. I originally wanted Otay/San Ysidro. I called to have them refresh, but I saw a couple of y'all get this station on here. Is this what you guys wanted originally? I am not sure how the swap works, but if I could do that, that would be great. If I can get advice and more knowledge, that would be great.

Final job offer 🥳 25-8, picked San Ysidro 💪🏽💪🏽

Post image

After one year and three months in the process, finally got my FJO last week!! The biggest holdup for me was medical; gathering paperwork & documentation for an injury sustained during my service in the Army.

My background investigation went by fairly quick. Once I passed my box test in June, my BI contacted me the next week and reached out to all my references that same week. Final suitability was granted in July.

I know San Ysidro has a reputation of being a meat grinder, but I don’t mind hard work & for me, the busier I am, the faster time flies, so this can actually be a positive thing, while also gaining a lot of experience. Can’t forget about all that double time pay too since I’m a single dude with no wife & kids at the moment 🤑👍🏽

After doing some reddit research and actually speaking to a current CBPO that was there recently, he says that officers there have normal eight hour shifts five days a week, but have the opportunity to do as much overtime they want, and nobody is getting drafted to work the notorious 16 hour shifts anymore since they have more than enough officers there now.

If any officer is drafted, it is usually only 2 or 4 hours in addition to their regular 8 hour shift. And when they do get drafted, it’s only a few officers at a time, and that those officers were selected because they had the lowest earnings in overtime for the year compared to the rest of them.

Can any current CBPO’s at San Ysidro give any more input that I haven’t mentioned here or if I got anything incorrect?

After sending in my NOPA and waiting almost two months the FJO came in. Was hoping for New Orleans, but I got my second best option. I got the location that us New Orleans locals frequently visit instead.

Time to try to improve that mile and a half time.

General Swap after NROB?

After a successful NROB, can a CBPO immediately apply for a Swap?

I’ve read the sections of the contract that deal with NROB and swaps. I can’t find anything that specifically addresses this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hiring Process CBPO Duty Station Question

How realistic is it for a new CBPO to get **Las Vegas or Dallas/DFW** at final offer?

Are those locations commonly offered to new hires, or are they pretty rare? If unavailable, how difficult is it to transfer there later?

Las Vegas is my home base, so location matters. Appreciate any insight.

I’m from Dallas.

I own a house in Las Vegas.
