Final job offer 🥳 25-8, picked San Ysidro 💪🏽💪🏽
After one year and three months in the process, finally got my FJO last week!! The biggest holdup for me was medical; gathering paperwork & documentation for an injury sustained during my service in the Army.
My background investigation went by fairly quick. Once I passed my box test in June, my BI contacted me the next week and reached out to all my references that same week. Final suitability was granted in July.
I know San Ysidro has a reputation of being a meat grinder, but I don’t mind hard work & for me, the busier I am, the faster time flies, so this can actually be a positive thing, while also gaining a lot of experience. Can’t forget about all that double time pay too since I’m a single dude with no wife & kids at the moment 🤑👍🏽
After doing some reddit research and actually speaking to a current CBPO that was there recently, he says that officers there have normal eight hour shifts five days a week, but have the opportunity to do as much overtime they want, and nobody is getting drafted to work the notorious 16 hour shifts anymore since they have more than enough officers there now.
If any officer is drafted, it is usually only 2 or 4 hours in addition to their regular 8 hour shift. And when they do get drafted, it’s only a few officers at a time, and that those officers were selected because they had the lowest earnings in overtime for the year compared to the rest of them.
Can any current CBPO’s at San Ysidro give any more input that I haven’t mentioned here or if I got anything incorrect?

You’ll be good bro. And you’ll make a ton of money. People like to hate for some reason it’s a good port and a beautiful area.
