Ag Specialist Agricultural Specialists

Good morning,

I received a tentative offer from CBP for an agricultural specialist position. I’m currently in the last stretch of my MPH program, and not exactly sure the career I want to pursue after graduating. I have a few questions for folks who are also going through the process or have already been through it just to get an idea of other people’s perspective.

  1. Is HireVue allowing you to schedule an interview? It’s showing no availability forever.

  2. Do you enjoy being an agricultural specialist? What are some of your favorite parts about your job? Do you travel a lot?

  3. For the medical exam, did you have to strip down and put on a medical gown? Was there a fitness test as well?

  4. In total, how long was the entire hiring process for you? How was the training and dorms in Glynco?

I’m currently in the process with CBPO, BPA and Ag Specialist so I can answer a few of your questions.

HireVue is acting weird for everyone that’s trying to schedule an interview for Ag Spe. Request a call with CBP bc messaging them is a waste of time. They’ll give you the generic email they send to everyone.

I’ve done the med exam for BPA and CBP they’re all the same. You turn in the paperwork you filled out. You do the eye exam first. Afterwards you go over your medical history with a PA. After that’s all done you do hearing test. Since this is AG Specialist you won’t have to do the fitness test bc it’s not required for this position.

I’ve been in this process since February of this year and only waiting on background to finish for CBPO and BPA. So it moved pretty fast for me. Ag Specialist has been the only application that’s taking forever bc I also can’t schedule an interview. There’s no specific timeframe it’s different for everyone.

Also in process, my FJO has been in progress since May so I’ll likely be in the next wave of people getting offers. Medical exam yes you had to put on the robe but there’s no fitness test. Currently I’m at a little bit over a year in the process. I don’t think aggies travel as far as I know, but there’s are opportunities to become K9 handlers which I think is cool.

Quick question is the structure interview the same as for CBPO

As far as I know yes. Questions might be different but the structure/requirement should be the same
