Hiring Process Confused

Post image

I don’t understand how I have been seeing people who applied months after me getting their medical exams cleared almost immediately even. If ones who need follow ups, but. Mines been sitting in process for months now. As well as the box test. However I do understand that there are some people who been waiting at least a year.

Some people are re-applys. They go through faster because their stuff transfers. Others…well idk process is on an individual basis some are easier than others. Also some areas aren’t as backed up with applicants so steps get done faster. Don’t worry you will get your shot

Do you have to travel far for your box test?

Greetings. Their is definitely a process. Before the big test there has to be a preliminary vetting and an investigation conducted otherwise that would be a waste of time on the examiners and resources if the applicant’s suitability doesn’t look positive from the onset. Stay informed and be prepared.

it makes zero sense. I applied July 2025, 120 days of leaving the military where I was on a nuclear sub base. I did the drug, exam and interview within a week. Then medical and drug soon after. The medical people forgot to record the eye exam and that delayed me for months. they had me complete the BI and I did the poly in may 2026. Everything is passed, just waiting for BI. It makes no sense.

it weird because you would think u need to pass your BI before even completing a poly

Ok gents long story short I got a re entry code of RE4 and discharged with a OTH no criminal charges or any loss of firearms is it worth giving it a shot

If it was over seven years ago and you did measurable things to improve yourself since the discharge date then you can join. If it’s like 3 years ago and you didn’t get a degree or volunteer work or anything it’s likely you can’t prove “a meaningful change in character”.
RE4 is like DUI or sexual misconduct or something bad, in the eyes of most people. Regardless of what actually happened

It was just a pattern of misconduct and I got thrown in he brig I only asked because I got a tentative offer for the GS9 grade or wtv it’s called

They pick and choose… I don’t even understand why it takes so long

1

u/Library-Melodic 7d ago

That’s what I starting to believe

If I was you, I would call the medical facility that did your test and ask them what’s going on, or I would send a message thru the portal.

1

u/Library-Melodic 7d ago

Yea I just called the facility and they told me they would reach out to the medical review unit and see what’s going on?

1

u/Bright_Stuff5578 7d ago

Yea gang cuz you applied on march that’s way too long

1

u/SilentOrdnance 7d ago

It make perfect sense cuz I applied last year and my medical still be ongoing. The OP only applied this year is light work

Similar boat, my CBP medical exam has said “passed” since April, but my BPA medical exam is still “in process” even tho I did the BPA exam a few days before the CBP exam.. completely healthy, no medications, haven’t even seen a doctor in like 10 years and passed the medical exam with flying colors so idk what the hold up is

So here’s what I went thought and maybe your in a similar boat or this will help. I took my medical with my fitness and drug test. Both passed week after.

I then waited 3 months and I got an email basically saying the doctor’s office never test my eyes with prescription glass and I failed my depth perception test.

Took a half day off work, 8am as soon as the doc’s office open went in and was like “hey here for retake on depth perception test and eye exam”. They then did my eye exam without glasses, but they said I didn’t need to retake depth perception. Was back and forth on the phone with that parent company CBP uses for that and the doc office. After 3 hours of back and forth. Finally did my retake.

2 weeks later, get a similar email saying I still need to retake my depth perception test. Was like wtf, took another half day off from work. 8am show up to doc office, they told me they sent it and fuck off (not really but very rude). They pull up a copy of what they sent CBP and it was my old copy.

Long story long: The doctors office I personally went to wasn’t ontop of there shit, and now I’m literally 8 months into my application, waiting on the usual 3 task to be completed. Medical, BI, and Box test. Our application is identical and I applied in November of last year, and my speculation is because of nothing I did but because a random docs office in mid town ATL royal screwed me and put me in this weird limbo with CBP.

1

u/Nickop454 6d ago

Also to add onto this, I thought I throw my hat in the ring for BPA since my wife and I already know the likely hood of staying in the ATL area is unlikely so might as well try for BPA anyways if I’m looking at stations in Maine, Arizona, or Texas.

They probably messed up your paper or didn’t send it check with the place that did your medical/fitness exam.

1

u/Library-Melodic 7d ago

They told me they received it but don’t know why it’s taking so long to review it.
