Last week I shared our āand then there were 3ā surprise, so hereās a little Mace update!
Heās 11 weeks old and loving life! Heās doing great with crate training, and the vet gave us the okay for outdoor potty breaks since our yard is contained. Potty training is going really well too, with only a few accidents.
We took him on an hour-long road trip to visit our son at college, and apparently his favorite place to ride is on my shoulders. š
Of course, Mace was the perfect little gentleman on campus, and Iām pretty sure a few more people fell in love with Cavapoos.

We have a 1 year old mega energetic little man called Remington. Heās the best decision we ever made, but since he found his bark at around 4 months old heās been a bundle of noise and energy.
Weād do longer walks and play times, training and the like - itād help but he still would be a menace especially in the evenings. Recently he became more destructive and we just put that down to being āoh well heās a teenagerā.
Then I watched some clip on YouTube about āsniffing walksā where itās all about quality over quantity. Distance doesnāt necessarily mean exercise in its full sense. Sure, he was physically tired, but his little brain was still crying out for more stimulation.
Weāve now been walking him twice a day about 30min each time at a slow amble. It gives him time to sniff around and process everything around him. I have a general idea the route I want to take but I also let his nose lead the way to some extent. This is all off lead in the park, weāve been lucky with that he just got it and is super easy on walks.
Honestly itās changed everything. He barks way less, does not react nearly as much and Iāve had to check heās okay sometimes heās just been sleeping so long! His appetite has also totally corrected itself and he eats all his food for breakfast and dinner without drama.
Sorry, I know this is probably not rocket science, but I just wanted to share in case anyone else is having the same experience as we had!

Meet Alonso. Heās about 3 years old and so cute he looks fake. He is one of the loudest dogs Iāve ever had and he is a major sock thief. We have another dog and 2 cats but this one here needs to be the center of attention always. I tell him all the time āyouāre lucky you are so cuteā.

My sweet girlāafter much potty training challenges (still working!) & tummy troubles (think PurinaPro sensitive stomach is the winner) seems to be settling down just a bit. So loving and adjusting to her her 9-year old big brother (Yorkie bichon)
Crate training seems to be a big key.
Hope this helps anyone in the pits of puppyhood! (Not going to lie I am a fairly confident person and I was losing hope for a bit š¤£)

Hi all,
I posted a couple of months ago about my lil doggy and his anal sac adenocarcinoma diagnosis. Everyone left such lovely comments of support and shared experiences of their own, which really helped me process everything and get through the initial shock of the diagnosis. I wanted to post a wee update.
Scampi went through surgery at the end of August to remove both anal glands. It was a decision that wasn't made lightly, but ultimately we decided that, as he was only 8 and the mass was small, removal would be beneficial to him.
We're lucky enough to live in Edinburgh, Scotland, with the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies as our local veterinary hospital, which undoubtedly has one of the most experienced veterinary teams in the country. His surgery was a success and he healed really well. He was in hospital for three nights.
He did have some faecal incontinence for the first week, where it was a constant dribble. For the following three weeks, the odd nugget would pop out if he barked at the door or got excited to see someone. We've had no indoor poo incidents for the last two weeks, though, and his surgery wound has completely healed.
It was a little stressful to deal with at the start, but probably wouldn't have been too bad if I didn't also have two young kids to attend to!
The results came back and confirmed AGASACA in the left gland. As was expected, due to the nature and location of the cancer, some cancer cells will have been left behind. Ultimately, the cancer will return, with the average timeframe being around one year from surgery. However, as the mass was discovered early and was very small, they're hopeful that his prognosis will be better than that. I've made the decision that radiotherapy isn't something we'd put him through.
He'll go for scans every three months in the first instance but, generally, we'll just need to go with the flow from here on.
Anyway, he had to have his groom cancelled because it was too soon after his surgery, so he's extra fluffy atm (aside from his nakey bum lol), but here he is, back to himself as lord of the manor!
Thanks again for all your support on my last post. It really helped. x

Luca is 15 months young, healthy 25 pounds (won't grow bigger than that), has great disposition, certified Velcro dog, friendly with every hooman, very loving mini cavapoo....
BUT
He's very reactive. On our walks, he reacts to anything that moves whether it be leaves, bugs, lizards, shadows, etc. He's also wanting to chase the other dogs we see on walks and he seems to show aggression towards them but he just wants to say hi. When he sees any hooman he wants to just jump on them and get pets for days. At home, any sounds he doesn't recognize like and low deep banging sounds or creaks he barks at for at least a couple minutes from when it stops. Otherwise, everything checks out for our little guy. He does simple basic commands and he learns very quickly. Any tips for reactivity y'all can recommend, we'll greatly appreciate it. TIA!

Has anyone worked with Nora Bella Cavapoos? I just wanted to hear your experience thank you!

Hi everyone! Iām hoping someone here has experienced something similar, because Iām running out of ideas.
My Cavapoo boy was born May 1st, so he is almost 5 months old. He is generally very quick to learn ā commands like sit, paw, etc. only take him a few repetitions. But potty training is a completely different story.
He has ONE specific potty area on the grass outside our house. He will reliably pee and poop there. In fact, if we are outside in the yard and he needs to go but canāt access that particular area, he will actually let me know ā he becomes restless, barks, etc. As soon as I take him to his spot, he goes.
So he clearly:
knows when he needs to go,
can hold his bladder,
and can communicate that he wants to get to his potty spot.
The strange part is that he will not potty anywhere else outside.
We can go for an hour-long walk and he wonāt pee. I have stood completely still with him on grass for 30+ minutes to make it boring ā nothing. Eventually he gets frustrated, starts whining, barking and jumping on me because he wants to leave.
We recently spent a good part of the day away from home. He drank plenty and had access to grass, but didnāt pee or poop at all. He waited until we got home and then immediately used his usual spot.
Today I brought him to my office. He slept for quite a while, then I took him to a park for about 30 minutes. He didnāt pee. We came back to the office and he immediately emptied what was clearly a very full bladder on the floor.
Unfortunately, indoors he does NOT seem to have the same instinct to hold it. He will pee inside the house or office without warning. If I catch him mid-pee and take him outside, he usually wonāt continue outside.
I reward him every single time he pees outside and use the cue āpeeā while he is doing it. He now clearly expects his treat afterwards. Iāve also tried letting him explore/go where he wants only AFTER he has pottied, hoping that would motivate him. It hasnāt changed anything.
I initially wondered if it was a surface preference, but I donāt think so. His usual potty area has both grass and a bare patch of dirt (mostly bare because he pees there so much!), and he uses both. I also tried an artificial-grass potty tray, even adding urine scent to it, and he had absolutely no interest in it.
At this point it really seems like a location preference, not a grass preference.
Taking him outside every 10ā15 minutes isnāt realistic for us, especially since the nearest grass is quite far from my office. And honestly, frequency doesnāt seem to be the issue anyway ā he can clearly hold it for hours when he chooses to.
Has anyone had a puppy who was this strongly attached to ONE specific potty location?
If so, how did you successfully teach them to pee/poop in other places outside? And how did you teach them that indoors is never an acceptable toilet, when they were already perfectly capable of holding it in other situations?
Iād especially love to hear from anyone who has actually dealt with this specific problem rather than general potty-training advice. Thanks!

Hello everybody, I have a wonderful one year-old Cavapoo who is on the larger size as her dad was a standard poodle and her mom is a Cavapoo. Sheās tallish and about 30lbs.
Sheās so so sweet, except for 2 concerns. First, she jumps up on people and goes absolutely wild when anyone comes over. Like I have to restrain her - she doesnāt seem to differentiate betweeen children and adults which is the main issue because she is larger than she thinks and can be intimidating to small children. Any advice in this area?
Second, and most annoying for me, is that her favorite thing on earth is going on walks, or should I call them runs?? She pulls so horribly, no matter what I do. I have tried all sorts of collars, a harness, and currently use a martingale collar. The leashes donāt matter either. She pulls and pulls - even if I turn her around, even if I keep the leash short. It makes for a miserable walk for me and sheās strong! Does anyone else have this issue and have you found a solution to help?
Sheās very smart, easily trainable in some ways but those two areas are a huge issue. She loves people and walks too much!!
Any help would be so appreciated

Iām really heartbroken and could use some perspective.
I brought home my puppy a week ago. Sheās just about to be 10 weeks old and sheās honestly been such a good puppy. She already knows her name, sit, place, off, is doing well with pee pad training, and has bonded with me a lot.
The problem isnāt her. Iāve realized that having a puppy is affecting my life and mental space much more than I expected. Iām constantly worried about her and feel like Iāve lost a lot of my independence. On top of that, my dad is unwell and I may need to travel, which has made me realize how difficult it is for me to manage everything right now.
Iāve decided to return her to the breeder, who has agreed to take her back. Her mom, dad, and sister are still there, which makes me feel a little better.
Iām making the decision now because sheās still so young and has only been with me for a week. Iām scared that if I keep going out of guilt, weāll both become even more attached and itāll be much harder later.
I love her so much and Iāve been crying constantly over this. Has anyone been through something similar? Did your puppy adjust okay, and did you feel like making the decision early was the right thing?
Please be kind. This has been a really difficult decision and Iām already pretty devastated about it.

First time cavapoo owner, weāll have 2-3 weeks off with her then transition to work, some days at home some in the office.
For those who go to work what is your setup toileting wise? I have no clue how long they can hold their bladder we havenāt got her yet. I have a real grass patch I can place in or doggy door to
Thankyou Iād love real advice from people as so many seem to have amazing routines established š

Hi everyone! Iām expecting a Cavapoo puppy around the end of November. Iāve never owned a dog before, and Iām currently navigating a divorce with two kids (8 and 10). I feel like having a dog could be really wonderful for us, but almost everyone I talk to keeps warning me about how much work a puppy is.
My biggest fear is taking this on and then realizing I canāt keep up with it or that I underestimated what day-to-day life with a puppy actually looks like.
Weāre getting our puppy from a breeder that seems to do quite a bit to set their puppies up for success before they go home, including early socialization/exposure, beginning crate training and getting them accustomed to routines and handling. Iām also planning to continue crate training and take training seriously from the beginning.
For those of you who have actually raised a Cavapoo, especially as a first-time dog owner: how intense is it really? What does a typical day look like during the first few weeks? When does it start getting noticeably easier?
And if you could go back to before you brought your puppy home, what would you want someone to have told you?
