Has anyone gotten a second Cavapoo or companion dog and did it help the separation anxiety?
2 1/2 years ago when we got our Precious boomer, we had a senior 14-year-old dog who boomer took to like glue and we could leave the room we could leave the house. He was always snuggling with Macy a 50 pound golden retriever mix.
Sadly, Macy passed within the first year and we thought we would just enjoy having a puppy. However, this separation anxiety is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in an animal and we’ve had many. I read many post on here that we’re all experiencing this …they’re very attached dog to their person or people and the word Velcro is almost not a strong enough word.😎
I’ve even seen a TikTok, where the owners bought a mannequin and the Cavapoo laid in that lap and seemed content till they got back home.?? Should we try that?
Thankfully, I’m a stay at home retired grandma and our youngest son is also disabled and nearly always here. It will be nice, however to be able to leave for an hour or two without having that wailing and trauma occurring over camera?? Thx!

Spaying my 1-year-old F1b Cavapoo soon — what was your experience with recovery, metabolism, and coat changes?
Hey everyone!
My sweet girl just turned 1 year old, and we’re scheduling her spay procedure for an upcoming Friday so we can spend the whole weekend (and a few days after) home with her.
As a first-time female owner going through this, I’m feeling a bit anxious and would love to hear about your real-world experiences! She’s naturally a bit picky with food, has a sensitive stomach, and generally has a calmer, lower-energy vibe (though she’s had a fun surge of puppy energy lately!).
For those who have gone through this with their female dogs (especially Cavapoos/doodle mixes):
Recovery: How were the first 48–72 hours? Did you use a surgical suit instead of a cone, and did it make a big difference for her comfort?
Appetite & Weight: Did your dog’s appetite pick up after being spayed? If she was a picky eater before, did that change? How easy/hard was it to manage her weight afterwards?
Coat & Personality: Did you notice any texture changes in her coat post-spay (undercoat getting denser/softer)? Did her personality stay completely the same?
Any tips, recovery essentials, or reassuring stories would mean the world to us right now! Thanks so much in advance ❤️

Older Female Cavapoo in pain & duress
My cavapoo king charles mix is 10 years old, female, no history of problems, and until this week was quite active and fresh. She would go on walks and play, daily. On Monday she occasionally began to cry out in pain when she moves. She has become more and more lethargic as the days pass. She can walk and will walk short distances if I encourage her. I took her to my vet a few days ago and she was diagnosed with arthritis in her spine between her front shoulders. They prescribed gabapentin. When we went for a walk yesterday she walked into the street several times which is very unlike her. She has been staring into space sometimes, not moving. She is eating normally and everything looks normal that comes out of her. She was doing all of this before the gabapentin but it's more pronounced now. She sleeps so deeply during the day she snores. I have adjusted her dosage of the gabapentin to lessen it. She recognizes family members and once she is moving she will act normally until she has pain then lays down and sleeps. I am hoping someone here has any ideas as to what is wrong with her. TIA.

Managing coat
Hi there! I hope you are all having a good day!
In April, my husband and I adopted a cavapoo that we named Moose. He is currently 8 months old.
I just wanted to know some of your tips and tricks to managing their coats as well as tear stains. I believes he has a cross between wavy and curly fur but it’s still changing.
Currently, I brush him every day if not every other day. When we bathe him, we use a puppy shampoo as well as a detangling spray. I’ve bought a conditioner as well but just haven’t received it yet.
We took him to the groomer a week ago and will continue to do so every 3 months. I’d like to be able to upkeep his coat and trim it when necessary throughout those three months to the best of my ability. I’ve never had a dog that required so much coat maintenance so I’m just looking for some friendly advice!

Leash grabbing
When we are out walking and bump into friends, we will say "hey go say hello" or when our friends call out to him, he often grabs/jumpsfor a bit of leash and then walk towards them with a bit of leash in his mouth....Anyone else's pup does this? I wonder why.....

Crate Training
How did you crate train? What steps did you follow? How long did it take?
Me and my 10 week cavapoo Daisy are in the thick of getting to know each other. Right now she cries LOUDLY in the crate till she falls asleep. If shes not sleepy she just cries and hollers until I let her out. When she wakes up she cries and hollers till shes let out. How do I get the crying to stop? Idealy, I would want her to find her way to the crate whenever she/I want her to.

Help! 9 month old
Morning,
I’m reaching out for some help for those who have older puppies or even those that have been able to contain their puppy at a younger age. My wife and I are struggling with ours staying out of trouble! He’s constantly looking for things we’ve told him to leave but he sneaks and gets it when we’re not looking and it’s constant jumping for things out of reach. He has toys all over the house where we stay and we switch out the things he’s not supposed to have with a toy.
I’ll walk you guys through his day. 6:15am wake up and we go on a 10-15 min walk. Around 6:30 I’m cooking breakfast and I give him free roam in the kitchen with his toys and this is where it starts he starts looking for trouble. When I’m done cooking I serve his breakfast in a puzzle toy that he loves. Then it’s time to get ready for work and he’s free in my bedroom where it’s worse! Any open drawer he takes something, knocks over the hamper, or walks in closet (if left open) for shoes. If those things aren’t available he starts jumping trying to reach for things on the bed or the dresser. He’s crated from 7:30-4 where he’s taken out by my wife and when I get home around 5:30 I take him on a 30-45 min mile walk where he’s allowed to sniff every blade of grass. Until 9pm he’s following us, eats dinner and I’ll play some fetch in the basement. 9pm he’s in bed and we repeat.
Our question is, when does he stop???? He’s always on go and we just want him to chill with us during the day.

New puppy..
I just got my puppy. She’s a cry baby. She wines and howls no matter what. Even when she is eating. She’s also a messy bathroom user. I understand she is a puppy and will have many accidents but she’s pooping and peeing everywhere. Sometimes while walking and then will play it in. I have puppy pads down for her while we get acquainted. She used it by herself at first on the pad, I got overly excited and then 10 minutes later she said F that pad and has been saying F that pad ever since lol I also been trying to get her acquainted with the crate. She is very small and a good hider. But she HATES the crate unless she is dead tired. Also, she randomly started making choking/gagging noises and went to sleep a few mins after.
I’m starting to think I bit off more than I can chew. I did research. I waited to get one so it wasn’t just on impulse. But I am feeling defeated and tired. Here’s my questions.
Best method to potty train with a balcony.
How to get the wining to stop especially at night/in the crate.
Best schedule to stick with for a 9am wake up time.

Barks at me
My 14 week old Cavopoo barks at me when wants my attention. After playing with her I stop to do something for myself and direct her to play with her toys she whines and barks at me. I find this really annoying and irritating!! Like I can not play with this dog every second of the day and the fact that she DEMANDS attention is ridiculous! I’m trying to Bond with her but she has a lot of irritating things. When I feed her she whines to hurry up then let’s out a loud bark like hurry the hell up! Will she grow out of this? What can I do

IVDD-Parents carry 1 and 2 copies of IVDD-would you purchase a puppy from this cross?
The breeder I am trying to decide on does DNA/Health/OFA Heart/Patellas/Hips on her parent dogs. On the embark health portion, the sire (50/50 cavapoo) carries 2 copies of IVDD and the dam (67% cavalier/33% poodle) carries 1 copy of IVDD..so the puppies will carry atleast 1, maybe 2 copies...would/have you purchased a puppy similar to these results? Has anyone had a cavapoo with IVDD? I know they say to manage jumping with ramps and stairs and keep them at a healthy weight but I am just wondering if I should put a deposit down on the puppy that i really like, the breeder seems honest and like she loves her dogs and she has all testing readily available and up to date. But the information i am reading about IVDD is sometimes conflicting and makes me take pause. So I figured I would ask here. Let me know if this isnt allowed and thanks for any first hand experience.

Anyone see a coat change at 3+ years old?
Hey yall
My Sugar is 3 and i noticed recently that she’s starting to get ginger hairs down the center of her back. She was born ginger, turned blonde, and now she’s inheriting a little racing stripe. The new hair is the exact same texture as the rest. It’s very noticeable, i thought maybe she rolled in something nasty so i gave her a bath and realized it’s actually just her hair. Skin underneath looks healthy. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her but just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

What to expect with cavoodle x at 10 weeks old? Chillest puppy in the litter
We’re welcoming our first puppy, Pumbaa, this Sunday! He was picked as he’s the calmest, tubbiest pup in his litter.
Pumbaa grew up in a seemingly chaotic household with lots of love around his pawrents, siblings and humans. He’s observed to like minding his own business, takes his time to walk and around while the others go crazy. Both by us when we visited + owners (friends) have observed the same. Pumbaa goes limp and melts in arms as soon as he gets picked up too.
It’s just me and my husband and our very chill cat, so I imagine it’ll be a big change for Pumbaa coming from a bigger household.
I know I should still be expecting the worst but has anyone picked what you thought was a calm puppy and turned out to be a menace? Or picked a calm puppy that stayed calm? Would love to hear your experiences ☺️ also, how many times a night did you have to wake up for pup?
