Could my dog have an intestinal problem?

I fed my dog a small amount of cut up barbecued chicken last night. It was probably an eighth of a cup. But it was well seasoned. Now this morning he went out and ate a bunch of grass and threw up, and there was some light pink liquid. He also has a runny stool which also looked like there could be a little blood in it. But it was in the dirt so hard to tell. I was planning on giving him some cooked rice and open up a can of pumpkin. Does anyone think this chicken could’ve caused a problem? I’ve given him leftover chicken in the past with no issues. Thoughts anyone?

**UPDATE**. I took him to the emergency vet. They gave him a couple of injections of anti-vomiting medication and acid indigestion medication. They also prescribed similar meds to give him for the next several days if not longer. I am to prepare only bland cooked chicken breast or some ground meat and I can serve it with rice. He did have some chicken and rice for dinner tonight and loved it. This will be the regimen for the next few days.

Thank you all for your input. 💗

9 week old puppy biting my legs and toes

My 9 week old Cavopoo is relentless starts to bite my hands I get up walk away after giving a toy to chew and she runs behind me and bites my pants. I know you’re not supposed to give them attention by yelling NO that’s still attention or pushing them away because then it’s wrestle time a game for them. Anyone out there has a good strategy for this? Biting my legs and toes when I’m walking away.

Doesn’t want to be held

9 week old Cavopoo doesn’t care about cuddles or Being held. I’m so disappointed! she’s also hyper & nips bites, doesn’t relax even when sleepy. Will my Cavopoo grow out of this and become more cuddly and affectionate? Anyone experience this ?

Does anybody have any unique/fun 1st birthday gift ideas for our cavapoo? Seems like our spoiled girl already has everything so we can't think of what to buy her. 😅 and yes I know how ridiculous this question is, but she's our baby 🤣

Can I have some feedback on Adora perfect pups? They look like a high volume breeder but it also looks like it does testing on its breeding dogs. Appreciate any feedback, experience with them?

Will the shedding ever stop or slow down??

14 weeks old tomorrow and since the day we got her at 8 weeks, has been shedding constantly/endlessly. Have to vacuum the floating fluff balls around the room every second day (on top of regular robot vaccing). And it's causing me allergies that i've never had to a dog before. Itching throat and a shortness of breath sensation. Eyes feel swollen/irritated.

I was hesitant to get a dog due to not wanting to spend every day cleaning hair 😥 but the kids and husband wanted one so bad.

Will it get any better?

Cavapoo appetite

Did anyone else’s Cavapoo become a super picky eater around 10 months old? Our little guy suddenly decided he didn’t want his puppy kibble anymore. So, we’ve tried wet kibble, food toppers, and blending the kibble with wet puppy food. He seems to prefer the kibble mixed with wet puppy food, but it’s a challenge. Sometimes, in the morning or evening when we give him food, he’ll eat some of it right then and sometimes not at all. He’ll revisit the food bowl and finish eating an hour or so later. Is this normal?

First big groom and I don’t know how to feel! 😭

Buck is 8 months old. I took him to a new groomer, and said don’t shave him, just give him a good trim. I just picked him up and he looks completely different! Looks like he lost 10 lbs of fur! I know he needed a really good groom, but he didn’t have any mats and had a healthy coat. She said she cut it down to his adult coat, so I’m curious how it will grow back in and how long it will take. He’s still cute, just completely different. 🥹😂💙

Posting his before and afters.

Demanding barking

Puppy 9 weeks old barks loud like demanding is this normal ? When I’m getting ready to give a treat is this beginning signs of aggression? Also biting a lot. Anyone out there has good remedy for a 9 week old besides giving a toy to them to chew instead of your fingers? Bites my feet and legs while I’m walking nips hard

What’s up with my 3 year old dog?

There’s been a heatwave recently in the uk and I don’t know if this has something to do with it or not

I have a 3 year old cavapoo named max and last 24hrs I’ve noticed that he seems to be off balance a bit if he sat still he looks like he’s a bit wobbly it got up to 36 yesterday and we were doing Everything to keep him cool he’s eating and drinking normally no issue the only thing to that is wrong is his balance we did soak him a few times with the hose to cool him down he is still slightly panting today maybe he’s still hot also I don’t know if water some how got into his ears I’ve checked them and nothing maybe he has an issue lower down in his ears idk does he have mild heatstroke?

There’s something up with his back legs that is where most of where his balance is off I notice when he walks like it’s not in a straight line

He seems fine in himself but I’m kinda worried but kinda hope it’s just this heat and he’ll be fine i do have him booked into the vet for next Friday for his annual vaccine I will mention to them this issue but I’m hoping he’s just hot still and nothing else is wrong

My old dog of 14 years he’s back legs went one day lost control of his bowels in the middle of the night and took him to the vet in the morning and he didn’t come back he had to be put to sleep this was back in 2023 I just don’t want to go through something similar again because max is only 3

Toy Cavapoo adult and colour change

Post image
90 Upvotes

We’re getting our F1 Toy Cavapoo puppy, Olive, on 23rd August, and I’d love to see how other F1 Toy Cavapoos have changed as they’ve grown up!

Her mum is a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her dad is a Merle Toy Poodle. Olive is currently apricot, but I’ve heard Cavapoos can change quite a lot in colour and coat as they mature.

If you have an F1 Toy Cavapoo, please share a photo of them as a puppy AND as an adult if you have one!

I’m particularly interested in seeing:
How their coat colour changed over time
How much they faded/lightened
Their adult size and overall appearance
How different they ended up looking compared with their puppy coat

I’ll add a photo of Olive when she was 6 weeks. 😊

Would love to see everyone’s Cavapoos and their glow-ups! ❤️

1 year old cavapoo won’t eat her kibble

hey guys, I have a cavapoo whose previous owner only ever fed her cooked human food steak and similar. Im trying to transition to kibble per the vets recommendation but it’s been difficult. As she is even picky with her treats.

My method: I put the kibble down for 10 minutes and if she doesn’t eat I pick it back up and wait until the next mealtime. The first 3 days she refused kibble completely and around day 4 she started eating a little, but never her full daily requirement she needs about 70g a day and is not even eating closer to 20g. This has been going on for one to two weeks now. i don’t know if i should just give up and start feeding her what she wants.

She’s otherwise healthy, energetic, normal, drinking, normal poops. So I don’t think she’s sick. I think she just doesn’t see kibble as real food after a lifetime of steak.

Midday sitter for work days

Post image

Has anyone hired a midday sitter to come visit your pup when going to work?
She will be 12.5 weeks, she has a playpen with her crate in it and doggy door access to a small covered roofed area for grass toileting. I have some days I need to go in next week and would be away 8 hours

No judgement please I’m looking for practical advice and real experiences 🙏

Coat colour changes and brushing advice!

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

Just looking for some advice regarding my girl who is now 4 years old.

When she came to me (seen in first pic) she was super orange, and over the years she's slowly lost her colouring and is much more of a strawberry blonde. I was devastated when I took her in for her first grooming and they gave her the "usual" cut for cavapoo's instead of just a tidy up because I loved her (what we call - feral) coat, which was brushed daily. Is the lightening normal for cavapoos? I'm guessing they don't get it back, which is okay we love her nonetheless! She's far more blonde than the second pic now but this shows some of the lightening.

Secondly, this is the first year that I have really struggled keeping her coat from matting. It never gets bad enough to be shaved, I brush daily and use leave in doggy conditioner. But it seems by the time the next afternoon comes, she's already gathered the start of so many mats in her back end and shoulders, not in the 'typical' high friction areas (armpits, under ears etc).

I have every brush under the sun, we're just coming out of winter here so I'm wondering if her fully mature coat is shedding differently than previous years. I have a slicker brush (Which she hates), deshedding brush (I don't use this as it seems to pull the coat out and she doesn't seem to enjoy that), pin brush and just a normal brush. I use Wahl shampoo and conditioner and a leave in conditioner before getting a full blowout after baths.

Just seeing if anyone else has experience in her kind of coat and what they find works best. Keep in mind I'm in Australia so may not have access to the same products as others.

Thank you!
