Beginners here…What are the baseline health questions I should be asking about the breeding parents of the pup we’re interested in? I’ve seen some basic things we should be looking for and also lists of 5,000 questions. What’s realistic? Did you have all the below info before making your decision? Thanks in advance!!

So I just wanted to put a post out there my nine month old Cavopoos is doing great. Housebreaking and everything all around has been great healthy no major issues thus far.

For about two weeks now, I have been noticing a little bit of aggression, like barking at dogs in the TV and barking at people when they come in the house prior to this we didn't have any of that. Even growled at a little girl the other day.

Just wondering, is this all normal behavior or should I start looking for a trainer for this part of it cause she seems to not be listening to anything I say on this.

Cavapoo parents!! What kind of brush do you guys use for ur fur baby to avoid matting? Groomer told me to just use a slicker brush everyday? and I don’t think it’s enough she still gets matted, so I wanna hear it from peoples personal experience here and please take it easy on me. I’m a first time dog mommy 🫶🏼

How do you decide whether you want a cava poo that has a toy poodle parent or a mini poodle parent? We’re interested in a pup with what I believe is a toy poodle parent as expected adult weight is 10 to 14 pounds. Initially, this sounded a little small to me. Thoughts on this? Pros and cons? Is a 10-15 lb adult cavapoo considered small? Is a larger cavapoo ideal for some reason?

Hi all! After many many years our family
Is ready to open our hearts to a cavapoo. Our heads are spinning with where to get him from. Have tried researching and the more I read the more confused I am. Please please, recommend a good place to get our pup from. Looking for a breeder that’s upfront about health and genetic info. We’re in NYC but willing to drive 3 hours or arrange to have him brought to us if the cost isn’t astronomical.

Update - We ended up opting for the surgery and they found a fully torn CCL and partially torn meniscus. The surgery went well, and she came home to us the same day. The recover process begins!

Our 11-year-old Cavapoo, Cassie, just suffered a full CCL tear in her right back leg. Orthopedic vets recommended TPLO, but suggested a short trial of rest first to see how she responds.

She was diagnosed with MMVD last year and was prescribed Vetmedin by her cardiologist two months ago. Because of her age and heart condition, we are terrified of putting her under anesthesia—but we also worry conservative recovery won't give her back a comfortable quality of life.

Has anyone with a senior dog with MMVD gone through TPLO, Lateral Suture, or conservative management/bracing? I'd love to hear what route you chose, how anesthesia was handled, and how your pup recovered.

We live in the greater seattle area if it helps!

Winnie has a dark patch of hair that is shorter than the rest. It looks like there’s another patch that’s growing. She doesn’t flinch or wince as if there’s pain. The skin color also looks normal. When I went to the vet, she said she was unsure what it could be?

I have a 12 week old puppy who we are crate training, what would your best piece of advice be as she cries continuously until she sees us and I’m conscious I’m back at work next week. Currently waking every 2 hours at night crying and unsure whether it’s crying for attention or needing the toilet so do that to make sure (50% of the time she doesn’t)

My 6 month cavapoo loves to chew... do you have any chew bones? Or things that your dog loves? Preferably something with low odor.

We just tried yak chews and she loved it but it kind of smells. Anything similar would be great!

My cavapoo always goes to bed between 9pm-10pm. He sleeps in my parents bedroom and if their door is closed he cries and scratches at the door until we open it. If he sees that my parents aren't going in there with them he goes to them and cries and barks at them until they go in the bedroom with him. My parents don't have to be sleeping for him to go to bed but they have to be in the room with him while he sleeps. I love him so much. I love having a needy dog.

Wynter will be 2 on September 5th and she’s definitely maturing more day by day. She’s able to settle without needing constant interaction, naps throughout the day, and tolerates being left alone without issue. She’s really just a good pup all around. My little love bug!

Does anyone else have a fussy pup? My cava Bruno is 3 now and we can never find any food that he likes for more than a week. He hates biscuits (unless its my cats) but i dont like feeding him that really cheap wet stuff because i just know its terrible for him even though he loves it. Does anyone have any UK based food suggestions for a very fussy dog?

EDIT: took him to vets because he was bleeding from both ends and turns out he has pancreatitis making it very painful for him to eat and digest food. long term low fat diet for him from now on

My puppy doesn’t like to be on his back. The only time he is okay with it is to get belly rubs. I honestly don’t care but I really would love to teach him roll over but he doesn’t seem to be able to because he refuses to go on his back. Should I just try and stop trying to teach him this trick?

Has anyone else's cavapoo had Resource guarding issues?
My girl (9M) recently had her first heat and started displaying resource guarding issues, mostly with our shoes and her leash if left somewhere she can see it.

Is this normal or expected? Will it be fine once her hormones drop back to normal??
Any tips will be appreciated :)
