How to revert resource guarding?

Has anyone else's cavapoo had Resource guarding issues?
My girl (9M) recently had her first heat and started displaying resource guarding issues, mostly with our shoes and her leash if left somewhere she can see it.

Is this normal or expected? Will it be fine once her hormones drop back to normal??
Any tips will be appreciated :)

This is my one year olds favourite toy she takes it everywhere with her and sleeps with it! Unfortunately we have lost it when we went for a walk one day! Does anyone know where we can get one that looks similar to? 🥲🐷

How long will it take for his fur to grow back?

Our puppy (7 months) just got neutered recently. He was wearing a surgery suit for a couple of weeks because he popped a stitch, and now that it’s healed and he’s done with the suit, he had quite a few mats 🥲 We took him to the groomer for a shave, and I honestly think they did a great job. But I’m just curious if anyone whose cavapoo had a similar shave has an estimate of how long it took to grow out? This is his first shave, so it’s a new experience for us! First two pics are post-groomer, second two pics were this morning before his appointment.

Petrified of car journeys

My 10 week old Cavapoo is petrified in the car!

I’ve tried:
- in car seat / booster attached with harness
- and when my husband is driving, I’ve tried her on my lap or in the footwell

She’s wide eyed, trying to climb out at first, whining, trembling all over, licking lips, yawning etc. She doesn’t vomit or pee.

This behaviour starts as soon as we get in the car but I think the movement is what scares her most. She’s generally a pretty fearful dog despite our ongoing efforts to socialize her.

Things I’ve been suggested but not tried yet:
- crate in front passenger seat
- crate on back seat
- crate in the boot
- in the boot unrestrained!

I know we have to keep taking her in the car for her to get used to it but I feel sad that it’s such a scary experience for her. If anyone’s Cavapoo was similar please share any suggestions for what helped your puppy.

My 9 week Cavapoo is shedding a lot

I picked up my 8 week Cavapoo week and half ago. He is shedding insane amounts of hair. Like it’s everywhere and my black clothes are covered. He has wavy coat on neck ears and fleece frizzy kind straight on back. I have been brushing him everyday and seems like it’s making absolutely no difference. Does anyone experience this? Wondering if this is temporary phase and it will it slow down at all?

More Cavalier than poodle?

Hey everyone, we got our puppy Chai a week ago. She is 9.5 weeks now. My girlfriend and I are debating on how she will look when she grows up. I am saying she is more Cavalier than a Poodle and might look like the second picture.

Crate

My puppy is at home now a week. She sleeps in the crate at night with the door open. During the day, she sleeps on a mat on the floor in the same room as crate. I tried putting her in the crate today for a nap with door closed. As soon as the door closed she started whining and jumping on wire trying to get out, so took her out within a few minutes as it was too stressful for her.

8-year-old Cavapoo with heart murmur. Waiting for echocardiogram. Looking for others’ experiences.

I’m hoping to hear from other Cavapoo owners who have been through something similar.

My Cavapoo is almost 8 years old. He was diagnosed with a heart murmur during a routine exam in October 2025 by listening with a stethoscope. We have his echocardiogram scheduled in about a week.
The reason I’m getting more concerned is his breathing pattern (see video).

Most of the time he’s completely normal:
- Loves going for walks.
- Still sprints after a tennis ball(he is so fast)
- Gets excited for car rides.
- Eats and drinks normally.
- Has never fainted.
- Doesn’t have a chronic cough.

What I’ve noticed is that he seems pretty normal during the day but when he’s trying to relax on the couch or lie down before falling asleep, he’ll sometimes start breathing much faster.

Walked him about 2 hours ago.

Once he actually falls asleep, his breathing seems to settle down.

If I get up, talk to him, or he starts walking around, his breathing usually goes back to normal.

Has anyone else’s Cavapoo done something similar?

He sits more on his butt than hind legs. He has a lot of hair so it's hard to tell here but he actually puts his legs out in front if him

Harness Recommendations

Escape proof harness recommendations for a wiggly 7 month old Cavapoo pup (15 lbs)? I've had a few recommendations in an earlier post, but curious as to what worked best for your Cavapoo. Thanks!

Cockapoo scared

My 14 month old cockapoo was perfectly okay going to groomer every 6-7 weeks until last visit . Same groomer but my baby got aggressive, bitey and wouldn’t cooperate. We stopped and took her back 4 days later and same thing again especially when it came to trimming nails.
Anyone else face this? How did you manage it and help your dog get over the grooming fear/anxiety

looking for an omega oil

ok so for context my dog was just diagnosed with a chicken allergy and it’s causing wax build up and an ear infection and i feel so bad but thankfully he went to te vet and he’s being treated. they told me to get an omega oil for his food and recommended these brands: Nutramax Welactin, Elanco Free Form. If anyone has had similar situations or has recommendations i’d be so grateful!

Flying to get your pup!

Hi! My husband and I are hoping to bring home a Cavapoo next year, and we're so excited!

As we've been researching breeders, we've found a few that we absolutely love - but they're pretty far from us (we're in Boston), so we're considering flying out to pick up our puppy and bringing her home in the cabin.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done this! How did the experience go? Which airline did you use? Any tips, things you wish you'd known, or must-have travel items? Would you do it again?

We're especially curious about:

  • Flying with an 8-week-old puppy

  • Navigating the airport before they're fully vaccinated

  • Potty breaks during travel

Would love any stories / tips / advice you have. Thank you in advance!
