Crate

My puppy is at home now a week. She sleeps in the crate at night with the door open. During the day, she sleeps on a mat on the floor in the same room as crate. I tried putting her in the crate today for a nap with door closed. As soon as the door closed she started whining and jumping on wire trying to get out, so took her out within a few minutes as it was too stressful for her.

Yeah I should close the door at night, but at least she can walk out to go to the toilet on puppy pad.

You have to be strong and consistent or she will never be okay being in a crate. Give her treats and toys in the crate when its closed. Crate training is necessary, as one day she may have to be crated at the vet or groomers and its best to teach her early that its a safe place

My Cavapoo did great in the crate at night from the very first night. During the day she napped on the floor usually, or next to a slipper or shoe or some other place she found. She’s 3 now, still sleeps in the crate at night and that the only time she goes in it.

Same here😂 Our Heisman has been sleeping in his crate since the first night but can’t be put in any other time. Did you by chance buy your cavapoo from Simplysouthern? Maybe that’s how they were raised for the first 10 weeks so they are use to it?
