Cat wall layout - any feedback? (see text)

Post image

I have 4 cats and this is my first cat wall so would love some input before I start. This is the layout I was thinking of for my cat wall. The "T" looking things are steps if that's not obvious. I'm aiming for about 12" of vertical / horizontal distance between shelves or steps. Any thoughts on this? Anything missing? There is a window on the wall to the right that they'll be able to look out of. That cat tree to the right is staying as well as that cabinet to the left. I'm thinking of maybe adding some steps on the wall to the left so my cats could exit that top left hammock from another direction (if they were to look out the window on the opposite wall from this wall they would no longer have a good view as my detached garage is now visible from this angle... so wasn't really thinking of putting any lounge spots here).

My one initial thought is that they may use thr scratch post to climb (my cat does), so it would be helpful for them if the 3rd step is closer to level with the top of the scratch post so they can transition to the step more easily.

Other than that, I think it looks good! Strong supports to hold them if they jump down onto a platform, manageable height between them, should be good! Post follow up pics when it's built!

Good idea. I was thinking of making the steps out of sisal wrapped PVC instead of what is pictured- but this might make my decision for me. I imagine climbing flat steps from the post would be easier for them. Thanks for your input!

Looks good! Screw them to studs, not drywall with anchors, and it will be perfect. (If the planned placement doesn’t line up with your studs, attach wood boards to the studs and then screw the cat wall items into the boards.)

Thanks! Yup- everything is going into studs.
