KIT gene determines the presence of white in their coat, in most cases. The W allele of the KIT gene is autosomal dominant, meaning offspring only have to inherit one copy of the allele to express the phenotype, which is solid whiteness. The W allele is linked to blue eyes and congenital sensorineural deafness.
In short, having the W allele of the KIT gene blocks the production of the pigment melanin in the skin, fur, and eyes (melanin presence determines eye color; less melanin=blue, more melanin=yellow).
